Re: OOC THREAD

Ronald R. Dodaden:
How about, the necklace can affect fires.
Normal Fires like torches or camp fires can light whilst at least 1 gem holds a light, but a gem dims if causing a campfire or larger to burst or flare, one refreshes per day as the sun's fire light hits it at Sunrise, miss the sunrise and miss the recharge, thus more careful underground!

I think I like it. Necklace could hold 5 charges... Would refresh fully when you stay at a Haven.

But what does Aubree think?

Ronald R. Dodaden:
We can do Carousing, Ronald will do that each rest to try and get 'refreshed' 'to look like a proper tail spinner'. Then he'll put his big (keep the rain off your face and shoulders) hat on when walking around.

Would prefer something connected with magic though, maybe using instead of fate. Still like the mesmerising effects though. Flashing lights don't do that.  Maybe causing caution in creatures, less likely to attack!

But see the mechanic for that would be pretty much the same as for startling creatures with fire-- succeed in your roll, and they don't attack you this round. Too similar.

So... are you okay with just Carousing (and, later, perhaps, charming), or no, Ronald?

The Ruby Necklace: A magical necklace of one large ruby and 4 slightly smaller garnets.
--"Firestarter" = Use at any time to ignite something easily flammable "for free."
--"Crackle" = Use Firestarter as part of a Magic roll to ignite an opponent's clothing (if the roll is successful).
--"Fwoosh" = Use 1 Fate to make a fire flare up very brightly for a moment, as bright as sunlight, blinding opponents in the area and even startling undead.
* Using "Fwoosh" causes 1 gem to seem to grow dull. Recharge 1 gem each morning at dawn. (Resting at a Haven restores all gems.)
* None of the three abilities above will work if all 5 gems are dull.

How's that?

Okay, copy all that onto your character sheet. BUT... all 5 stones are dull right now.

I figure it's elf-made, incidentally.

Its official NAME is not "The Ruby Necklace" --maybe someday you'll use XP to give it an official name.

Now to make sure Ronald is really okay with Carousing/charming skullcap, or if he has some new suggestion...

Re: OOC THREAD

Rhyming would be more appropriate, especially as he is, a Singing Wizard.

Or a Skull Cap of Insite: has insite into where enemy are moving to, good for ranged or melee.

Okay here's what I'm leaning toward:

--The Skullcap: sized for a human or elf. At the edge of memory, gives the wearer some of the memories of previous wearers from long, long ago.
* Gives wearer the Rhyming trait if they don't already have it (no extra skill).
* Wearer may spend 1 Fate to know where one or more targets are planning to move to next.

What do you think?

I say: yes, you may try once before you set off--

So, 2 dice for you, because Rhyming... presuming you're fine with my write-up of the skullcap?

That is correct :-)

Sorry for delay.  This week is full of Equinox Rituals.

Take Courage Roll = 3,3.  Unsuccessful. Could I roll a Fate after the fact? (Rolled just in case, got a 4.  Still no successes.  Oh well.)

Sounds like we're ready to set off-- over the mountains, southeast to the Main Forest Road, yes?

If so... Aubree, roll 3d6 to Guide us (since you now have the Staff)!

It's almost time for bed for me, so I think I'll give you one more choice, Aubree:

Choose two allies in the coming conflict:

--Radagast

--A squad of elves from Tawaroth (the halls of the elven king of Mirkwood)

--Old Lagmal

--Unfreldro

Re: OOC THREAD

Just a passing response to recent posts from the GM -- I am not (yet) familiar with this game system, but its mechanics seem to include some very interesting and flexible options.

I have adjusted Mungo's Toughness on his Character Details to reflect the arrow wound. Should I revise his Bio so his Toughness also appears there?

It's not required, but it would be nice. Fate points, too.
