Re: Out of Character
Overall I like it. I will note that Antet is a bit more of a serious concept (and I kind of struggle with comedic writing, honestly), so the Dessert Isle and the mushroom north pole are a bit...I am likely to struggle with writing in that tone.

Also, apologies for sporadic posting, rpol is being unreliable for me. Antet's sheet should be done, but I may have messed up the math or made a foolish mistake somewhere in writing it.

In reply to Antet (msg # 41):

Don't change your tone. Act how your character would act.

In my belief spirits are beings of creation. This means more childlike and innocent concepts will create more childlike and innocent things and lead their works in such a fashion.

This doesnt shift the tone but more so establish a certain innocence in certain spirits.

These islands exist but even in a darker toned world. The point of darkness isn't to establish no good can exist, but rather the world itself is dark. Establishing these types of islands means around the time of creation it was rather bright with relatively little darkness (though look at the shadow isle and see even then it wasn't all bright either), with which things like corruption can then distort and establish a darker tone if needed.

I think overall it looks good.

I'm struggling with my character building process. Here is what I have so far. It feels off to me but It has most of the aspects I want:

Re: Out of Character
I think I did the character sheet format right, obviously this is the origin point of the character with almost all of its points in supernatural defining traits, assuming we gain points as the game progresses interaction with other types of creatures will likely bias points away from such a heavy 'water does everything' perspective.

Thoughts
I'm not sure what power Enveloping Winds actually is apparently it's a buff. I'm aware of shenanigans with enhanced traits, but I've never even heard of giving others advantages. That being said if you are buffing others' abilities. Don't enhance something like dodge as it shouldn't work as anything above max pl will be ignored, Instead, I'd recommend buffing Dexterity or Agility directly, allowing for it to be useful while staying on theme.

Actual Advice

Affects Corporeal isn't needed for your Communication ability, one of the things that are specifically noted is Sensory Effects which Communication would by all rights be.

You misspelled some words.  Insubtantail  is Insubstantial for instance. I'd advise a general proofread to catch those errors.

Personal Preference

Do you have a -5 strength? When you really should be doing it as a N/A as by rights you can have a -5 strength proper.

-5 fighting? Guess you're not going to be in close combat.

Sidenote

I'm a bat, hence hearing is really a key feature. I would think a dark environmental change wouldn't actually impact me in the slightest, since I don't really use sight. I wonder where that's stated in the rules though.

Edit: While Affects Corporeal isn't needed on sensory abilities, you do have non-sensory abilities like Environment, and your buff that do need it.

Edit 2: For your stats, skills, defenses, and advantages. As I'm not counting your powers right now.

The stats are right.
The advantages are right.
The Skills are wrong 16, not 17.
Your Defenses are right.

Re: Out of Character
Real life is being rough I'll be a little slow for a bit but hopefully this resolves towards me having more time.

Given I asked for less human characters I've been considering waiving the cost of innate where a single state is the only thing that's innate. So permanent enlarge innate the innate would be free, and shrinking innate could be free even if not permanent it'd just make a new size the default. If the power can change and can't be suppressed you'd pay the full 1pt cost.

In reply to Theris (msg # 45):

Enveloping Winds is Enhanced Traits the point of it is to create a 30 foot area where everyone inside has Power level dodge no matter what Including not spirits. The idea behind it is you fill the 30 foot burst with random winds catching any ranged attacks and sending them off course. Dampening Explosions, Breaking apart waves and the like to limit AOE. Its such a basic idea for wind power and its still a weak way to implement. I just don't know a better way.

The Sheet was put together initially in Hero Lab and looks like a missed a few tags on the Environment power. I tried to make sure I put Affects Corporeal on everything that affects someone else looks like some got missed in the conversion.

Alternate power I'm also trying to avoid the 5 million options initially.

On Abilities:
Im going on the theory that Aural has no ability to directly affect the physical world. So Close combat is effectively impossible. I considered using super small size to represent it but it didn't feel right to me.

Edit: looks like I missed a point in skills two. I had 2 ranks added to perception on hero lab.

In reply to Aural (msg # 47):

If you ever believe I'm being too aggressive let me know. I'm not trying to be.

Enveloping Winds would probably be better serviced than as a ... debuff. An adverse condition applied to ranged attacks. Which would be Weaken, targeting the Ranged Combat Trait, alternatively The Dexterity trait. The idea your espousing isn't making people more agile, but making the Attacks harder to pull off.

Honestly, I have to say I considered making myself tiny 5 inches tall. Shrink is just not worth the cost.

Re: Out of Character
My issue is not, per se, anything to do with how my character acts; that element isn't something I have an issue with. It's more that I as a player have a hard time maintaining investment or engagement in a world that feels like it's not at least moderately serious. I can't really follow a consistent tone here in the setting, which makes it hard for me to work with.

Anyway, regarding form, I would consider being a shadow with the incorporeal option for it, but I don't think I can really fit the power points for it into the build. I suppose I might be able to drop some stuff.

"Dessert Island" is a significant accomplishment that marked the beginning of Sugar Spirit's career in the political landscape of the land spirits. Through their innovative techniques and craftsmanship, Sugar Spirit and their team were able to create an entire island made of delectable desserts. From the chocolate mud to the ice cream mountains, every detail was meticulously crafted to create a whimsical and delicious experience.

This impressive feat not only demonstrated the creativity and skill of Sugar Spirit but also inspired other spirits creators to push the boundaries of their craft. The legacy of Dessert Island lives on as a symbol of the endless possibilities that can be achieved through dedication, passion, and a commitment to excellence.

Spirits see Dessert Island as a testament to the innovative spirit of the spirits and serve as a reminder of what can be accomplished when talented individuals come together to create something truly remarkable.

Does that work? or should I make it even more serious?

Ice Cap is an innovative creation led by the Portobello Spirit, which defies convention and is an example of spirits pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of spirits. Unlike most islands, Ice Cap is not made of earth, but rather it is a massive mushroom that grows from the depths of the sea. This remarkable feat of nature holds host to a vast expanse of icy tundra, which covers the entire surface of the portabello-like mushroom.

The creation of Ice Cap showcases the innovative spirit of the Artiste Portobello Spirit and its dedication to pushing the limits of what is possible in creation. By taking inspiration from the natural world, they have created a unique and unforgettable experience for other spirits of the archipelago.

Furthermore, Ice Cap represents an important milestone in the evolution of the spirits creation, which continued to innovate and surprise with every new creation, after this innovative push. As the industry grew and evolved, it is creations like Ice Cap that remind us of the power of imagination, innovation, and creativity in the spirits shaping the world.

In summary, Ice Cap is a remarkable creation that exemplifies the limitless potential of the spirits and serves as a testament to the innovative spirit of Portobello Spirits. Its unique and unforgettable character reminds us of the importance of creativity and pushing boundaries in the spirit's pursuit of excellence.

Re: Out of Character
Thanks, Gm, So I'll make my primary sense the ability that gains Innate for free. I figure that's fair, versus saying that and flight.

Ok, now that was more business-like describing it in terms of a concept, not a land. This Ice Cap is more of a land feel. For perspective,

Ice Cap is a unique and fascinating creation by the Artiste Portobello Spirit. It's an island unlike any other, consisting of a massive mushroom that grows from the sea, covered in an expanse of icy tundra.

It's a stunning sight to behold, with the icy landscape contrasting against the dark, earthy color of the mushroom. The chilly air gives the island an otherworldly feel, almost like you're visiting a different planet altogether.

Despite its unusual appearance, Ice Cap is a serene and peaceful place, with a calming atmosphere that can ease even the most restless of spirits. There are plenty of opportunities for exploration, with ice caves, frozen lakes, and other natural wonders waiting to be discovered.

Overall, Ice Cap is a must-visit destination for any spirit looking to experience something truly unique and out of the ordinary. It's a reminder that there is always something new and exciting waiting to be discovered in the world of spirits.

 ______________________________________________________________________________________

Sorry for this being a bit repetitive.

Dessert Island is an impressive accomplishment that marked the beginning of Sugar Spirit's career in the political landscape of the land spirits. The island is a unique and whimsical place, made entirely of delectable desserts, including chocolate mud, ice cream mountains, and much more.

Sugar Spirit and their team have crafted an exceptional island called Dessert Island, which is a testament to their creativity and attention to detail. The island is a delicious and delightful place, featuring every sweet treat imaginable, from creamy custards to crunchy cookies.

Dessert Island is a significant achievement that has inspired other spirit creators to push the limits of their craft. The island is a charming and scrumptious location, entirely made of desserts, including luscious cakes, velvety mousses, and much more.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

And I made dark variant's just in case.

Dessert Island is a hauntingly unique creation by Sugar Spirit and their team. This island, made entirely of desserts, lures spirits in with the promise of sweetness and indulgence. However, as they explore the island's decadent landscapes, they begin to realize the sinister nature of this confectionery paradise.

The meticulous attention to detail in crafting this island takes on a more unsettling tone as spirits start to notice that everything seems a little too perfect. The chocolate mud and ice cream mountains take on a sickly sweet quality, and the entire island seems to pulse with otherworldly energy. The Corruption has already thoroughly riddled this land.

Dessert Island has become a dark symbol of what can be achieved through obsession and single-minded pursuit of perfection in the pursuit of creation. It has inspired other spirit creators to experiment with unconventional ingredients and techniques in their quest for greatness, even if it comes at a terrible cost.

For spirits who have visited Dessert Island, it's a twisted and disturbing experience that leaves a lingering taste of unease in their mouths. It's a reminder that not all creative and innovative ideas are beneficial, and that sometimes the pursuit of perfection can lead to a dark and dangerous path.

Overall, Dessert Island is a chilling testament to the dangers of unchecked creativity and the potential horrors that can be unleashed when passionate individuals are consumed by their pursuits.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Ice Cap is a haunting and mysterious creation by the Artiste Portobello Spirit. It's a place of darkness and isolation, unlike any other island in the archipelago. The massive mushroom that forms the island seems to rise from the depths of the sea, shrouded in an eerie mist that obscures its true form.

The icy tundra that covers the surface of the mushroom is unforgiving and dangerous, with treacherous crevices and freezing temperatures that can quickly take even the unwary spirit's life. The ice caves that pierce the heart of the mushroom are said to hold unspeakable horrors, and the frozen lakes are rumored to be home to creatures that prey on unsuspecting spirits.

The very air on Ice Cap is frigid and oppressive, with a sense of foreboding that hangs over the island like a thick blanket. The spirits who come here feel a sense of unease and dread, as if they are unwelcome guests in a place they were never meant to be.

Despite the dangers and the ominous atmosphere, there is a strange allure to Ice Cap that draws spirits to it. Perhaps it's the promise of discovering secrets that have lain hidden for eons, or the challenge of surviving in such a hostile environment. Whatever the reason, those who venture to Ice Cap do so at their own peril, never quite sure if they will return to the safety of their own islands or be lost forever in the darkness of the mushroom's icy embrace.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

To be safe, I believe the tone of the island in my own imagination should be written down as well, as I've tried to make them serious, and dark. While I believe you might appreciate how I see the actual islands at the point of their creation. Honestly, Ice Cap was written pretty well in my describing the land bit. Candy Land... Not so much.

Dessert Island is a joyous and welcoming creation by Sugar Spirit and their team. It's an island where everything is made of the sweetest and most delectable desserts, from the chocolate mud to the ice cream mountains. The air is filled with the delightful aroma of fresh-baked treats, and the island is a haven for spirits with a sweet tooth.

The island is a true work of art, and every dessert is a masterpiece. Each dessert is crafted with love and care, and the island is a testament to the skill and creativity of Sugar Spirit and their team. The island is a celebration of the joy of food and the pleasures of life.

Dessert Island is a place of respect and admiration, where spirits come to appreciate the artistry and dedication of Sugar Spirit and their team. It has become a symbol of the potential for greatness in the spirits industry, and it has inspired other spirits creators to pursue their own dreams and create their own unique experiences.

For spirits who have visited Dessert Island, it's a joyful and uplifting experience that leaves them feeling happy and content. It's a reminder that life is meant to be enjoyed, and that the point of creation is in its beauty and wonder, no matter how simple. Delivering, a contrast to the more sensible islands in the Archipelago.

Overall, Dessert Island is a tribute to the power of imagination and the creativity of the Spirits of Creation. It's a place where spirits can come together to celebrate the joy of life and the pleasures of good food. It's a testament to the potential for greatness in all of us and a reminder that anything is possible when we put our hearts and minds to it.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Because, I've just rewritten two different islands, 3/4 times. I'm giving a go on the other islands, in manners I think fit them.

The Crystal isle.

The Crystal Isle is a place of mystical wonder and enigmatic beauty. It's said that the entire island is carved from a single piece of pure crystal, with every tree, mountain, and creature formed from sparkling ice and crystal.

At first glance, the island can seem foreboding, with its shimmering landscapes and strange, frozen creatures. The animals of the Crystal Isle are like nothing else in the spirit world, with their jagged edges and icy features. They seem to glow with an otherworldly light, adding to the island's ethereal atmosphere.

As you wander through the frozen forests and crystal caves, you can't help but feel a sense of reverence for the spirits who created this magnificent place. The level of skill and craftsmanship that must have gone into carving each and every detail of the island is awe-inspiring.

Despite the island's seemingly harsh environment, there is gentle tranquility to the Crystal Isle. The air is crisp and clear, and the sound of tinkling ice and soft whispers of the wind creates a soothing symphony.

As the sun sets over the island, the ice and crystal creatures seem to come alive, with their glimmering bodies catching the light and reflecting it back in a dazzling display. It's a sight that leaves spirits feeling both humbled and grateful for the chance to witness such a rare and magical phenomenon.

In the end, the Crystal Isle is a place of profound beauty and mystery. It's a reminder that there is still so much to discover and explore in the spirit world, and that the power of imagination and creativity can create wonders beyond our wildest dreams.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Here's Shadow Isle

Shadow Isle is a place of darkness and fear, where the very shadows seem to come to life and take on a sinister presence. It's a tiny isle shrouded in mystery and foreboding, where the shadows move and writhe like living beings, casting an eerie and unsettling atmosphere over the island.

Legend has it that the shadows on Shadow Isle have become sentient through the collection of sparks, the essence of life that exists within all living creatures. It's said that they have acquired enough sparks by stealing them from humans who have dared to set foot on the island, allowing them to attain some form of consciousness.

The spirits who have visited Shadow Isle speak of an overwhelming sense of dread and unease, as if they are constantly being watched by an unseen malevolence. The shadows seem to follow their every move, as if waiting for the right moment to strike.

The air on Shadow Isle is heavy with a palpable darkness, as if the shadows themselves have a weight that presses down upon the island. It's a place of mystery and danger, where the spirits who dare to visit do so at their own peril.

Despite its ominous reputation, there is a strange allure to Shadow Isle that draws spirits to it. Perhaps it's the challenge of facing their fears head-on, or the desire to unravel the secrets that lie hidden within the shadows. Whatever the reason, those who venture to Shadow Isle do so with a sense of trepidation, never quite sure what they will encounter or if they will return to their own islands unscathed.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Skycaps

Skycaps are an incredible creation of nature, floating mushroom islands that drift gracefully across the sky. They are truly a wonder to behold, with their vibrant colors and unique shapes. The caps of these mushrooms are incredibly sturdy and provide a stable base for the island to float on, making them a safe and enjoyable place for spirits to explore.

As you step onto a Skycap, you'll be transported to a magical world, surrounded by the vast expanse of the sky and the breathtaking views of the world below. The air is crisp and clean, and the sun shines down on the island, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Skycaps are home to a variety of flora and fauna, with plants and animals that have adapted to the unique environment of these floating islands. Some of the most beautiful flowers can be found on the Skycaps, with their bright colors and delicate petals swaying gently in the breeze.

The peaceful and serene environment of the Skycaps makes it an ideal place for spirits to relax and unwind. The island is a haven of tranquility, providing a respite from the stresses of the world below.

Overall, Skycaps are a true marvel of nature, a beautiful and enchanting creation that inspires wonder and awe. They offer a unique and unforgettable experience for spirits looking for a serene and peaceful place to call home.

Ok we've talked about tech level and the oddest islands out there.

So realistically the more temperate lands make sense to talk about.

Either that or Politics...

Ok no responses....

Well, realistically the only way to make the Archipelago to feel more normal is rather obvious.

Talk about islands that are more standard then one off,by giving concrete examples.

Let's assume it's Akin to the Malay Archipelago or 25000 islands. that should be a reasonable size. Obviously not going to talk about all of them though.

Populated Islands
Stowaway Island: Currently unnamed, this island is practically just an entrance to the suboceanic caves. Currently, One Survivor of a Cave flooding is stranded here, with no food, and no prospects his situation is Dark. Water is coming into the caves from this location.

Na'Ka's Island: The Island of the Na'Ka people, as hunter-gatherers who have hunted all land animals on the island their main source has turned to Bats, and other Aerial Creatures.

Merchant Island: A Desert island that used to be known for the relative ease of other islands being able to traverse here, through the caves, the Caves that it used to rely on have now cut them off from the resources they needed. While this island was great for trading its natural resources are low, and those that call it home may soon, be starving from a lack of reserves.

Agrarian's Paradise: The Most advanced of the islands with a thriving Agricultural society, the island being a natural plain with an interior freshwater lake, is a natural fit for farming. This has allowed those that live on it to slowly develop agricultural techniques needed for future civilization to develop.

Normal Islands

Gem Islands: These 300 islands with a variety of environments, and sizes, some are populated, and some are not. These Islands are most notable for having an abundance of a specific gemstone. Be it Diamond, Red Beryl, or Onyx this is their claim to fame in the archipelago. The island with the largest abundance of the gem is called the Gem Island, of that type, and as such some islands that Mortals would call Gem islands are not included in this list.

Pebble Islet: The size of a pebble located where The Suboceanic caves are closest to the surface of the ocean, the only land above water is the size of a large pebble.

Volcano Islands: These islands have active volcanos causing most life, to fail to take root on them, this being said some more unusual creatures have taken root. Take the Fire bat, that calls this place home.

Corrupted Forest: A small, and undiscovered island with a resplendent beauty, of a peaceful coexistence inside the creatures of this forested island has unfortunately been disrupted by Corruption that has started to spread on this island.

Re: Out of Character
So hopefully y'all are up for hanging in for a bit longer. My job got reorganized. My old boss was laid back as long as you turned your work in on time and didn't force him to deal with you he was fine. My new boss wanted to be more hands on and objected to the fact I looked up detailed SW issues while out of the office and charged it as legally required. Accused me of charging hours I didn't work. I pointed out I was completing twice the work as everyone else, but was told This was expected of a senior engineer never mind half of those workers were higher pay-grade. This in the middle of attempting to move. So I started maliciously working exactly the hours I was supposed to and job hunting while also house hunting.
Finances on the house are now in order, I have an offer for more money from a more prestigious organization. I plan to politely hand in my resignation Monday. I'll be on vacation first week in April and starting my better paying job second week. Hoping to look through sheets and setting ideas to move towards IC posts, but kind of still burnt and going to be kind to myself about it.
