Greb is sitting on the deck, pondering a chapter in his Tome and obviously deep in thought. Yet his sharp ears still detect the soft pawsteps of the mousekin. He turns from his reading and addresses Wizzlewick "upon review I may have made a minor error in assumptions. Though it is true that the healing I perform is mundane but sped up, it seems that there is a planar connection being used after all. Just not channelling as we know it."

Wizzlewick's ears swiveled towards the summons first, catching Greb's words from across the deck, and the arcanist hurried over to speak with their healer and scout. He gathered his robes under him, taking a seat in front of Greb and pulling his notebook out to catch himself up on what they had discussed before. "Alright..."

A pause as he read. "So through Cassidy's teachings, you have learned to tap into planar temporal flows to speed your hands and work up beyond our perceptions, condensing an hour's healing into a few seconds correct? And you are saying that there is some planar energy being tapped as well?" Wizzlewick looked up to meet Greb's gaze, his attention utterly focused on the monkey-goblin. "Are you a student of planar theory Greb?"

"I've been studying it for a number of years, if that's what you mean. I know the math involved, including the imaginary components. So many people have trouble visualizing the square root of negative one, but it fits the conditions of the structure, you know? In this case, applying the imaginary numbers indicate that something other than a deific focus acts as a conduit for the energies involved." Greb postulates.

The arcanist smiled. "That is precisely what I mean Greb." He took a moment to pull a heavy book from his pack, one Syranshee's Formulaics, and paged through it to a particular set of tables. "In my own studies of magic and its interactions, I have found the complex maths to be most enlightening and potentially helpful, though my work mostly deals with the application of irrationals to laminar mana flow rather than imaginary numbers utilization."

He took out his journal and began penning notes into it as they spoke. "You are correct on the theoretical level at the very least though. If divine attention were applied, at least on even the subconscious level, then imaginary number theory would fail in the calculations." His pen scratched away steadily at the page. "Have you felt any touch of guiding consciousness beyond your own in applying the healing hands?"

Greb shakes his head. "No. None, I'm afraid. Here in Chapter twelve it talks of an old theory regarding something called planar touchstones. It was theorized that possessing a piece of material from the plane involved would allow it to act as a conduit for that plane's energies. But experiments along those lines have been inconclusive. So when it did work, it could not be proved that the material was acting as the conduit." He riffs through some more pages and points "and here, on a sidebar in chapter fifteen it mentions a way to tap into sacred energies by dedicating acts in that deity's name, and I think that the energies are channeled on a subconscious level by the deities involved. Yet neither one supports what is happening with me. At least, the math doesn't."

Wizzlewick frantically made notes, copying down several of the formulas as Greb pointed them out. "No, no, no, it's quite alright that you haven't felt any touch of consciousness Greb. Reassuring in fact! That means that this phenomenon is potentially entirely devoid of agenda, which makes it unique." The mousekin smiled. "If it is an unconscious force that you are tapping into, the results should be reliably replicable in experiment."

Greb chuckles. "Oddly enough, I've learned how to cast a couple of spells through study and luck. But those are arcane energies, unrelated to healing. Now, I've had my medical instruments checked. While my Satchel is Enchanted, my surgeon tools are not. And the Satchel enchantments do not explain what I can do. Something is acting as a conduit.....I think it's me."

Still inscribing formulas, Wizzlewick continued to follow the conversation, speaking almost to himself. "Interesting, I wonder if the effect is replicable within a circle of planar binding? Or under adverse planar conditions..."

The mousekin continued to write for several moments, not looking up from his notes until he finished. "I should very much like to study the math in more depth Greb, establish a baseline understanding before I form an experimental model to test this. With what you are telling me, there is the distinct possibility the effect could be isolated from the user, which could lead to a whole new era in medical care."

Greb counters "If I am the conduit for the energies, then it follows that a living body is required. So, while it may not be possible for an item to be enchanted to enable this link, it might be possible to train an intelligent Familiar in Healing skills, and have the Familiar act as the conduit. This would open the ability to wizards and sorcerers."

Wizzlewick paused, his quill hovering over the page. "It follows in your circumstance certainly Greb, but we don't entirely understand what the conduit is. You are right, though; the channeling that is going on opens up fascinating possibilities indeed." He made a few more notes in his journal, scratched out a line, then sat back and smiled.

"Once this adventure has seen its conclusion, I would like to study what you are doing in greater depth, Greb. It could change the world."

Greb nods. "I'll be happy to aid your research then. Don't know that it'll change the world, but it might add to higher-wizardry."
