The team gathered at the docks.

It was immediately obvious that something was happening-- a huge bulge of water was approaching rapidly, like a wave of some kind, but something was inside it!

"What is that thing?" Luna asked.

"...I don't know," said Colt.  "It's huge, and it's under the water, and it should breech shortly, unless they're deliberately staying below the surface."

"Okay, so what should we be doing?" Luna asked.

"Be ready," said Colt.  "I imagine they're going to breech shortly."

Luna did her best to be ready.

Waves splashed high against the docks as... whatever it was... surfaced!

There was a hard, iridescent, shimmering dome of a surface, but that wasn't all to it-- there was some kind of opening, and what appeared to be a number of extremely large tentacles emerging from a spot in front of it.  They reached out to grab hold of the dock as it glided slowly to a halt.

"Anyone have any idea what that is?" Luna asked.

"A chambered nautilus?" Flare guessed, but then it grew closer, and several figures emerged from inside it.

"I'm confused. Are these bad guys?" Luna asked.

"Well, they aren't attacking," said Colt.  "So that's a good start..."

There were three figures who appeared to be in the lead-- they were tall, slender, with long, finned tails and brightly-colored fins on their heads, shoulders and backs.  Two more held back, holding long poles of a strange kind that might well be weapons.  The one in front raised a single hand.
