Hollows Last Hope: A beginning.
It was mid morning on this Sunday in late Calistril; though the Sun could barely be seen peaking out from behind clouds, that were they at a higher elevation might indicate snow. Instead here on the Foam River in Darkwood Vale; they only indicates rain. Looking at the cordwood streets it looked as if that had already occurred.
The Ferry was coming across with only a few travellers this morn. A Peddler and his wagon pulled by two mules. A couple of sells words by their look, talking of employment with the Lumber Consortium, and finally 3 others. A dwarf, with weaponry commensurate with someone familiar with them, and looking quite strong. A wild eyed elf looking out of place, and another woman who kept her hood up and was carefully scanning the upcoming dock.
To the right of the dock, inside the stout lumber walls, stood a squat tower. Ahead was a building that had the look of a town hall. And in front of it a square ...well square wasnt accurate, more like an open area where signs of a market could be seen by the wooden beams sticking out of the ground and the lines run between them. However there was no market this day.
Across from the town hall was an Inn. The sign out front read 'Jak-A-Napes' and the smell of fresh baked goods assailed their nostrils
further down the street a small line of burly men stood outside a building near the door. A few guards stood watching the line. That road turned and went up a small hill to cross inside another stockade, though it also continued outside.
Off the market area to the left another cordwood street headed, the logs fit quite close together and dug into the street to provide safety from mud. The steeple of a temple was in that direction as well as the noise that claimed this a Lumber town. The sound of axes and saws could be heard from the cutyard.
The smell of wet sawdust was in the air. As the ferry. Moved up to the dock
------------
Inside Jak-A-Napes, being the only Inn in town, things were warm from the smouldering fireplace as waitresses moved about the tables bring food and drink to those residing inside, though some locals came to eat some of the best cooking in Falcons Hollow.
Upstairs, 3 fairly recent additions to the town stirred in their rooms. All had taken private rooms instead of sharing the common room in the attick with hammocks and chests for gear, though that was available for less money.
In the damp air a few merchants were loading wagons destined elsewhere. A few citizens moved about on the streets, but for those having been in larger cities, it paled in comparison. However for folks not accustomed to civilization, this frontier town would seem positively overrun.
This began what NOONE had any idea of what would be salvation for this little community.
