"They may have a description, though," said Alana.  "Some of you should hide."

Anna looked for a place to hide.

There was discussion, and money changing hands, but now they were out of the city!

"...So where are we going from here?" Krovna asked.

"We were heading for your hometown, right?" Anna asked.

"Yes... but that's a long ways off," said Krovna.  "I guess we'll just have to do it, though."

"My hometown is in the opposite direction. I don't know what's out here," Anna said.

"Ah, it'll be fine," said Artz.  "Out here, I know what I'm doing!"

Rolling a d8 Travel Die seems fitting.

The roads went on for a good, long while; up ahead, there was a small town.

"Ah, a good place to stretch," Anna said.

"...and switch drivers," said Alana.  "Artz, I am now painfully aware of how much taller you are than me."

It appeared that something in the village was throwing up a huge plume of smoke; there was also a lot of noise, but what it was was hard to make out.

"We should go see what that is," Anna said.

Alana sighed.

"If we must.  But do we want to be careful, or charge right in?"

"It sounds like people might be in trouble," Anna said.

"Yes, but how are we going?" Alana repeated.

"Car," Anna said.

Alana floored it!  And they poured into the village to find--

--villagers dancing around a huge bonfire!  They were throwing rather large bundles of reeds into it, no doubt accounting for the smoke.  Merry music was playing, too.

"Oh, it must be a festival," Anna said. "Silly me."

"Wouldn't mind joining," said Artz.

"That does sound lovely," Anna said.

They went into the festival.  It appeared that the bundles of rushes that were being thrown into the fire were, ah, shaped like people.  (They clearly weren't, though, as their burning made clear.)  It appeared that this was actually a religious festival-- praying for the wrath of something to pass them by.

Anna went to find someone to ask about the origins or meaning of the festival.
