I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to the predilections of one game system over another. I needed a set of tools to manage things like skills and abilities in the Lockwood universe and picked D20 Modern as the easiest to overlay. But it is England, not even the real England, but a much more 1960's vibe England. So you will have cell phones and other modern gear, but guns are very rare. I'm not going for gritty post modern urban -- more ghost stories and mysteries to unravel.

Hope that suits you.

Well sure, but the game system gave her Personal Firearms Proficiency and Archaic Weapons Proficiency, which seems more appropriate given the setting.

Well, archaic weapons will certainly cover the rapier, and I'm just going to assume that part of the training is shooting guns -- silver bullets maybe? And I liked Eloise's shotguns loaded with salt rock concept. Very effective, I would think. Plus shotguns are much easier to come by in rural England. I'm in Florida and I can just walk into Walmart and buy a Colt .45 with 100 rounds of ammo with a credit card and a driver's license. Not so much in Tesco's I would guess.

I suppose the idea was to look at the items and see which ones had auras, then pick one of those to look at more closely.

My sense of Lucy's testing in the book and TV show was that she needed to focus on one object at a time to get any sense of whether it even had an aura. There's no wrong answer here, they all have some psychic residue. Trevor was just bluffing when he indicated that some might not.

I was working off of Lockwood's style where he looks around and sees residue all over a room or something.  Eh, doesn't matter.  I'll pick something.

The reference for anyone wondering:

Rooders (ルーダー Rūdā), occasionally spelled "Ruders," are teenage girls who "stand against the forces of darkness." Much of their existence is mysterious. They are introduced in Clock Tower 3.

According to Dick Hamilton, the Rooder blood is prominent in the Hamilton family, although the Rooders are scattered all over Europe. Rooders may have something to do with Burroughs family as the Hamilton family originate from the Burroughs. The Hamilton family may be part of the Burroughs who chose to reject the worship of the Great Father.

Their duty is to battle the Entities and Subordinates, and save people whose souls were lost by returning their precious items to their bodies and/or spirits. Rooders seem to have the ability to enter the realms.

The Rooder powers first appear in a woman's early teens, peak at age fifteen, and usually disappear entirely by age twenty

I'm quite happy to move forward in solo play with Evelyn, but I hope Charlotte and Eloise are still interested. You don't need to post much. Just a sentence or two will do

Could we get like a small blue down arrow by stairs that got down a red up arrow by stairs that go up and both for like a stairwell that goes to multiple floors. Like if there's a stairwell that connects ground and first floor the ground floor blueprint would have a red arrow the first floor would have a blue arrow. And if the stairwell goes to ground first and second it'd be ground red first both second blue. Mostly I just want to know where the basement is lol.

Hey, guys. Thanks for waiting. I'm back online.

In our story, Eveline and Charlotte have followed an ancient secret passage from the cellar of the old manor house to a crypt, most likely under the chapel they passed in the woods when they first entered the property. The place seems quiet and deserted, with the remains of some old packing crates scattered about.

Hopefully that's enough to get us going again.

OK -- so this has become a solo game between you and me. Which I have no problem with, quite happy to play that way if you are.

I get a suggestion from some of your posts that you might be interested in upping the stakes a bit in the adult content. I'd be happy to, but we'd need to move off RPOL -- the terms are very specific about character maturity as well as player.

Is this of interest to you?

If not, we can keep on playing here, but I thought I'd ask. If it is, maybe we can move to Discord?

Be more than happy to. Though as of right now Evelyn just has a jaded view of the world. She expects everyone to be selfish, perverted, and use her for their own desires. She assumes the worst. So here on rpol she's probably wrong . On discord she could be right.

I think we got some wires crossed on the timing. Here's the chronology I intended:

  • Mid morning -- arrive at Leatherby Hall and explore the cellar/tunnel, etc.
  • Mid-day check-in at hotel, have lunch
  • Early afternoon, Trevor goes out to seek background sources
  • Girls take nap in preparation for a possible foray to Hall tonight - Evelyn has a nasty dream
  • Late afternoon, Trevor returns to the hotel with options for background research before going to Hall at night
  • Evening - at the hotel (no postings for this time period)
  • Bedtime - now (poor Trevor is getting none of the fun)
  • Tomorrow morning -- interview a woman whose mother worked at the Hall in Edwardian times (which is the time period Evelyn's dream was set in)

Sorry to do this, but I really am stretched too thin at the moment and I must admit that the clear idea I had for this ghost story has become rather muddled in my head.

I'm going to close this game down next week. Thanks for gaming with me.
