GAMEPLAY & RTJ
THE GDDS HAVE TRIUMPHED.
The infinite Hells were swallowed by the greater infinity of the Dream, the demonic hordes converted to fuel for mankind's star-ships.
Death itself lies broken at the feet of the Construct - the souls of the ancient dead bound to machine-men. Mankind does not labor by his hands.
Madness, once the supreme threat to all ordered things, finds no purchase on the perfected Zen. The hungry Void shys away from the Empty God.
War - Famine - Ennui - all foes material and ethereal, suborned or overmatched. The human condition corrected. The Angels, once men, sing in harmony within the Radiant Glory, Eternal, Absolute, and All-Pervading.
They have left the dirt of the world-tree to baser creatures, and departed to conquer the Beyond.

You are a Dream Marine, a mortal endowed with an artifact of the Theogenes that allows you to instantly don their battle armor. Your tribe is near extinction, reduced to a single village of 500. All around you are the ruins of far greater beings, and these ruins emanate a strange machine-logic. The world is warped, the landscape shaped into immense six-sided shapes known as Hexes.
As a Dream Marine, you are able to exert Mastery, converting the machine-logic to your control. Lairs of horrific beasts, once defeated, can be converted to produce beasts of burden. Encampments of predatory beastmen, once cleared, can become hamlets to house your people. Even the mysterious treasure-chests hidden throughout the world, once looted, can be converted into self-restoring Caches of valuable resources.

Combat
During battle, your armor automatically defends you; incoming attacks are flagged for you to guard against or evade, and your own attack windows are calculated to exploit openings in an opponent's defense. Estimates of enemy integrity are displayed as portions of a circle set visually behind the enemy in question, which also serves as a visual tag of their movements; this partially transparent circle is called the "Halo."
You may choose to disengage the automatic defense protocol to pursue an all-out offensive. The armor will still engage in evasive manuevers, but will not attempt to parry or deflect incoming attacks on your behalf. If you carry both a one-handed weapon and a dedicated shield, you can choose to manually control your weapon arm and allow the armor to use the shield for deflection on the defended side - a mode described by the armor as "Split Defense."
-
Your armor may be classed as Mech, Power, Plate, or Suit.
Mech - The armor is self-propelled. Provides the highest degree of environmental protection, but can only swap equipment during downtime and struggles with the explosive lateral movement necessary for evasive manuevers. Can be fitted with heavy weaponry in both arms. Stealth is impossible. Intimidating.
Power - The armor provides adequate mobility despite incredible density. Provides a high degree of environmental protection. A heavy weapon can be wielded using both hands. Stealth is difficult.
Plate - The armor is a system of environmentally sealed titanium plates. Provides a moderate degree of environmental protection and a high degree of lateral mobility. Cannot use heavy weapons. Stealth is possible at normal walking speed.
Suit - The armor is made from durable protective material specifically designed for noise cancellation. Provides a minimal degree of environmental protection coupled with supreme mobility. Cannot use heavy weapons. Permits stealth-parkour.
