BLOODY ROSE
The infamous pirate captain "Bloody" Rosa Halcon terrorized the Inner Sea seventy years ago. Sailing out of a hidden port in The Diasporadives, she plundered merchant ships, brutally murdered crews, and terrorized the locals for over two decades. In those days, seeing her distinctive ship Goshawk and its blood red rose pirate flag could strike fear in even the most experienced mariner.
Her most notorious quarry was also her last. She and her crew attacked, plundered, and sunk the Imperial ship Inevitable. The Inevitable was laden with treasure, tribute from lands conquered by the Empire. The then newly crown Scarlet Empress was so incensed, she sent the Imperial navy in force to The Diasporadives to track "Bloody" Rosa down and retreive the treasure.
The Empire didn't find "Bloody" Rosa Halcon, nor the Goshawk. Those in the know say none of the Inevitable's treasure ever hit the black markets that dot The Diasporadives. And so the last haul of the Goshawk passed into legend. Old sea salts still tell stories about it, and the young and foolish have invested time and coin to track the lost treasure down, all to no avail.
You and your mates booked passage to The Diasporadives to flee possibly unjust prosecution at the hands of the Empire. Tacking south across the Inner Sea during typhoon season was inadvisable - but what choice did you have? Three days out of Meeros, a violent storm seemed to ambush and sink your ship.
You gathered your gear, and dropped into the angry sea in the middle of the night. You awaken, waterlogged, on the white sand beach of a small mountainous island. You can see smoke coming from a stone building atop a plateau a few miles up the beach. And nearby, and old man with a seagull perched on his shoulder eyes you cautiously from the foliage at the edge of the beach...
ABOUT THE GAME
A small 'sandbox' style game using Free League's Dragonbane rpg.
The setting is The Diasporadives - an archipelago near major shipping lanes.
The Diasporadives has one decent port town, Merros, that offers a resting port for ships carrying goods among various ports of the Empire.
The islands remain outside the Empire's control.
The first adventure is tentatively called "Cold Comfort" - a cavern delve seeking a legendary pirate's last treasure haul.
The game will be friendly to players with no Dragonbane experience. The game is marked 'mature', and is for players who are aged 18 years or older.
The game's tone is similar to Sword and Sorcery fiction, wtih a bit of a nordic mythological vibe to it. The first story deals with some light horror elements.
The players are expected to create character who want to cooperate with each other, and act as a team. The players are expcted to themselves cooperate and act as a team to see their characters survive and thrive.
I encourage everyone to approach all in and out of character posts in the game with "charitable reading". That is, assume every other player is posting in good faith, and assume we are all doing our best to ensure everyone playing has a good time.
