The Future
Welcome to Chicago, 2054—a city transformed into a brutal landscape of oppression under the iron grip of the Sentinels. In this dark future, mutants are hunted, branded, and systematically eradicated by the mechanical enforcers of the authoritarian NASI Party. The city is a place where fear is a constant companion, and the skyline is dominated by towering Sentinels who patrol from above, ensuring that every citizen, mutant or not, lives under their watchful gaze. Life here is a twisted reflection of what it once was, with iconic landmarks repurposed into instruments of control and suffering.
In this grim vision of the future, Chicago is divided into heavily fortified zones, each with its own dark purpose. The once-bustling United Center, once the home of sports legends, now serves as a mutant processing facility. Here, captured mutants are herded through cold, sterile corridors, stripped of their identities, and cataloged before being sent off to fates unknown. The echoes of cheers and victory have been replaced by the cold efficiency of oppression, with Sentinels standing guard to ensure no one escapes the processing line.
On the outskirts of the city, O'Hare International Airport has been transformed into a Sentinel base, a fortress bristling with weapons and surveillance technology. Once a gateway to the world, the airport now functions as a hub for Sentinel patrols and operations, its vast runways and terminals repurposed to support the city's oppressive regime. From here, Sentinels launch their patrols over Chicago, ensuring that no corner of the city is beyond their reach.
The South Side of Chicago houses a vast Sentinel manufacturing facility, where mutants are forced into labor under the harshest conditions. The very machines that hunt them are built by their hands, a cruel irony that underscores the city's relentless cruelty. The facility is a sprawling industrial complex, its smoke-belching chimneys and deafening machinery a constant reminder of the Sentinels’ ever-growing power. Mutants work here under the watchful eyes of overseers, knowing that any sign of resistance will be met with swift and brutal retribution.
To the southeast, Guaranteed Rate Field—once a place of joy and community—is now a mutant concentration camp. The park, once filled with the sounds of cheering fans, is now a site of unimaginable horror. Rows of barracks line the field, each filled with mutants who have been rounded up and imprisoned. The stadium's once-gleaming stands are now crumbling, overgrown with weeds and vines, while the field itself has been trampled into a muddy wasteland. The camp is surrounded by electrified fences and patrolled by Sentinels, ensuring that no one escapes the torment within.
Despite the overwhelming presence of the Sentinels and the NASI Party's iron grip, an underground resistance fights on. Using the ruins of The Loop and the hidden corners of the city, they work tirelessly to sabotage the Sentinels, free captured mutants, and keep the flame of hope alive. In a city where every landmark has been twisted into a tool of oppression, the fight for freedom is more desperate than ever, with the fate of mutants and humanity alike hanging in the balance.
