Character Creation

Once you have been accepted into the game then go ahead and choose or create a character.

You have two options for playing a character:
  1. You can choose one from among seven pre-made characters, listed below.
  2. You can create your own character.

1) List of pre-made characters: (all 150 points)
  • Marisa Santarelli, 24 year old female: Exuberant Italian stunt performer, so-so actress, and niece of a notorious mafioso.
  • Jonny Talon, 29 year old male: Soft-hearted cropduster pilot - always has a steady expression to accompany his crazy ideas.
  • Chio Cervantes, 20 year old male: Mechanic and first mate on the Alba, a jungle steamer that tours the Amazon.
  • Sonia Carrilho, 21 year old female: On the run from criminals, Sonia doesn’t have time to decide between singing and science.
  • Duke Duckworth, 33 year old male: Tough detective from Detroit, known for being involved with a starlet's murder.
  • Solange "Patience" Paquet, 25 year old female: A resourceful junior agent in French intelligence; does not tolerate fools.
  • Willy Van der Woodson, 20 year old male: Broad-smiled, bright, and very wealthy, Willy loves funding races and grand adventures.

If one of these sounds interesting, let me know and I'll send you the character sheet.

2) You can alternately create your own 150 point human character from scratch.
All skills, traits, equipment, etc. will need to be appropriate for the year 1936.  Remember: this is an Indiana-Jones-style pulp adventure, set in the jungles of South America - so you may want to choose characteristics and equipment that will be helpful in that setting.

You need to create your character from either the GURPS 4th edition Basic Set: Characters book or the GURPS Lite rules - no other genre books, world books, rule books, catalogs or supplements should be used.

Here are some characteristic guidelines you should follow when creating your character:
  • Attributes: Should be between 8 - 15. Anything outside that range needs to be justified and approved by the GM.
  • Secondary characteristics:
    1. HP can only vary by +/- 30% of STR. For example, a STR 10 character should have between 7 and 13 HP.
    2. Will and perception cannot be lowered by more than 4 points, or raised past 20, without GM approval.
    3. FP can only vary by +/- 30% of HT. For example, a HT 10 character should have between 7 and 13 FP.
    4. Basic speed must not vary by more than 2.00 in either direction.
    5. Basic move must not vary by more than 3 in either direction.
  • Skills:
    1. No computer related skills allowed, all others must be appropriate to the real world in 1936.
    2. No skill level higher than 16.
  • Traits (Advantages, Disadvantages, Perks, Quirks):
    1. No exotic or supernatural traits.
    2. Maximum of 30 points on any one advantage.
    3. No more than -40 points of disadvantages and -5 points of quirks.
  • Tech level and Equipment: This adventure takes place in a tech level 6 world, therefore all equipment you choose should be tech level 6 or lower, and appropriate for the year 1936.
  • We will not be using techniques nor trait modifiers (enhancements and limitations) in this game.

Remember: if it is not something that existed in the real world in 1936 then don't use it!  All final characters are subject to GM approval.
