General and House Rules

Welcome to the game!

This game uses the DND 5e 2024 ruleset. The focus will be on roleplay and character development, but fret not! There will be ample opportunity for combat if you so wish. That being said, here are my rules within this game.

CONDUCT
Rule 1: Please be respectful towards one another.

Rule 2: Please communicate with one another. Don't initiate anything (especially stuff like romance or PvP) with another PC without their consent beforehand, especially if you plan to include any NSFW language.

Rule 3: No explicit content. For example, any romance scenes, if they occur, will be asked to fade to black after a certain point.

GAMEPLAY
Rule 1: Post responsively. I understand that Real Life takes precedent over a game on the internet, however it isn't that hard to post something every so often. In terms of roleplay scenes, going more than two days without posting when your character is directly involved will result in me assuming that your character has nothing to say or do, and the scene will be moved along. When combat occurs, that window is shortened to 24 hours. If you're going to be incommunicado for an extended period, please try to let me know with a PM. Anyone who "ghosts" (is unreachable and does not post for a full week) will be removed from the game.

Rule 2: Please roll with discretion. There will be times during the game when I will ask for a roll, usually giving the DC alongside it. It is okay to roll unprompted ON OCCASION, such as a Perception check when trying to search for something specific, or an Insight check if you think someone is lying. Please avoid, however, rolling in situations when the exact type of check would be unclear (e.g. Trying to roll a knowledge check at random and deciding to roll History because you're really good at it. I might decide that Nature or Religion might be more appropriate, so please wait for confirmation.)

Rule 3: Nat 20 is NOT an automatic success. It just means you did as well as you could have. It does not allow you to do the impossible. This rule shouldn't often come up, as if something is impossible, I won't make you roll for it. By the same token, Nat 1 is only an auto fail in combat.

Rule 4: I'll In-Character posts should be in past tense, 3rd person using "Bold, Blue Text within Quotation Marks". While written thoughts isn't required, but if you do so, then use Bold, Blue, Italic Text without Quotation Marks.

Rule 5: All OOC text within the In-Character posts must be inside

Magic
Casting a spell with a Verbal Component use the following phrasing... [Language unknown: Illle Ticnceughent!]
[Language Magic: <blue><b>Cast Fireball!</b></blue>]

Casting a spell with a Somatic Component requires large hand gestures, not easily hidden.

Casting a spell with a Material Component requires the appropriate Spell Focus or component from a Spell Component Pouch. Spell Component that has a gold value must be purchased and present for the spell.

Identify Magic Items
Use of the Identify spell is the best way to identify the properties of a magical item.
Potions - may be identified by Taste and an Arcana (DC 10 + spell level of potion) check

Casting from a Spell Scroll
A spell scroll may be used as long as the spell is on the character's spell list. This includes the character's class spell list and other spells that they have access. (Misty Step spell from a feat or other spells from the Magic Initiate feat)

Casting a High Level Spell Scroll
Must pass a DC (10+spell level) with your Spellcasting Modifier as the scroll script fades. Failure by 5 or more will be a MISHAP.

Scribing Spells Into Spellbook
Additional Spells may be added for FREE as characters increase in levels. However scribing spells that is part of treasure or acquired in the game need 50 gold in materials (paper, ink, etc) that must be deducted per spell level. (RAW)
