A place to start
The silence had been long and daunting but absolute. No one in the party spoke or moved; all were focused on the two men standing at the very edge of the stone platform. Ssrivan and Shih stood side by side facing the dark pit below them. Ssrivan face locked in contemplation and concentration, while Shih, eyes closed, seemed to withdraw deep inside himself, his body ridged and unmoving. It seemed as though hours had passed from when the two men had ask for silence, only the sound of shifting stone from deep within the dark edges of the platform seemed to sneak up into the air and slowly shift around between the stones and the flesh of those who listened. The rest of the chamber also seemed motionless, the party all facing to the one edge, with the empty shuttle to the left and the ancient station to the right all gathered in the center of the platform, all with open and active eyes, all with ears lit to hear the smallest and most insignificant of sounds.
And then it came, the slightest of sounds, like a soft breeze, barely moving, soft and steady. The sound increased slightly and with it, Shih and Ssrivan moved slightly. Without warning Shih stepped forward, off the platform, and over the edge he fell. His trip was short however, only to his shoulders where it stopped. Slowly he rose upward, until he was, once again, level with the platform. He walked to the edge of the stone that had carried him up and stepped off it forward edge as well. He sank to mid calf and continued to walk forward, each time stepping down and, each time continuing forward. He did this for about five stones and then turned back to the party on the platform, his face alight with great satisfaction, and proclaimed that he had found the way to control the stones. The one he was standing on rose upward and the others followed until he was at the top of a stone staircase that returned downward to the platform. He walked his way back to where Ssrivan stood and began to explain how he had accomplished this task. Dlarumei stopped him explaining that too many minds working at stone moving in here would cause chaos, so it was better left to only one or two to have the information for the time being. Shih could explain it all later, once the party was out of the area. Ssrivan mentions that he is able to move the stones as well, and therefore there are at least two in the party who can function at this task, thus allowing for greater security. He also adds that with this new information, the party would be able to explore and examine the greater cavern that was previously not open to them.
The columns that stand depicting the various stages of the sun seem as still as ever, though Churisan, who has been studying them for some time now, has noticed the two depicting the setting sun seem to be just a shade different in some fashion. He has been mulling it over in his head and has come to the conclusion that the depiction set at the very top of the column is depressed into the stone a bit further than the rest. How this plays into this room or anything at all is still up for grabs.
Urutlen, Nesh, Orun and Almodhim still stand together at the edge of the platform, peering down into the darkness and watching as the occasional stone rises into view and then disappears again. Sometimes after the passing of some small creature, and sometime not.
The Shaman sits, eyes closed and breathing slowly in the middle of the crowd. He seems oblivious to all and everything around him.
