Subject: Pick this.
Both Orun and Dlarumei speak simultaneously, pause at precisely the same instant, start and stop again at exactly the same time. Orun, with a smile, raises a hand and bows ever so slightly to indicate that Dlarumei is first to speak.

With a kindly gesture returned to Orun Dlarumei says, "Noble Churisan, I believe with all that is in me, that this is indeed the correct path that we are chosen to follow. All of the signs are present, including this abyss with its carriage chamber. I was beginning to have my doubts but this is almost exactly what the ancient texts described. The ancient texts that we possess in Monru are not all complete and some of the texts have yet to be deciphered, but this part was very clear.

"The two stones and stumbling stair
Which illuminate a palace Heir
Bring forth a chamber from below
A sliding room meant to bestow
Upon its travelers swift passage safe
From one high level to a deeper place."

There is more about what I believe is the tube way but that part is not all clear. Something about a swift sweet carriage will do the trick, on sleek long runners both stout and thick. The rhyming scheme is a bit, well, not what I prefer, but the message seems clear enough."

"And abyss seems to be the proper choice of word Noble Dlarumei," Orun interjects. "The torch I dropped took me to the count of fourteen before we lost sight of it. I would surmise that we don't have enough rope between us all to scale that depth. I like what some of our noble companions are thinking. Noble Urutlen would be a far more practical choice to attempt a crossing in the chamber than myself, as our brother in arms, Neshkriuma has aptly pointed out. After all, Noble Urutlen did descend from high in the cavern where scarce is found a foothold for climbing. Deshnah has offered a shamans safety net of sorts, which also seems to be an excellent idea. Our noble locksmith has conjured for us a solid plan to fit us all in without having us all fall out again. I would beseech you, Noble Churisan, master engineer, to please add your expertise to our plan. With that, we are assured success in this endeavor."

"I would be cautious however," Dlarumei warns. "Both mine and Adzul's magic seem very subdued, if not inept, in the place. I have seen that songs and Livyani trickery work best here. Though the Shaman has produced rope from thin air, perhaps his, less conventional, skills will produce greater effects in this instant as well." With that said, Dlarumei steps back from the doorway to allow others greater access to the area. Orun steps back as well, unties the rope from his waist and hands it to Urutlen with a slight bow.

From: Deshnah [2002-03-20 02:25:00]
Subject: One small step
Desh listens to the discussion amongst the higher status members and nods in agreement as Urutlen starts to tie the rope to himself.

He too steps towards the doorway, and gradually lowers himself down to the sill of the door. Small beads of sweat appear disturbing his otherwise calm exterior - now is not the time to wonder how far you can fall as a adventurer counts to 14!

Gradually he moves out onto the first beam to allow himself a position from which to cast his spell.
Hand gestures made , but kept to the minimum, brief chanting, glances downwards - all are evidenced as Desh prepares for the web spell.

Subject: Wah Hoo !!
Urutlen, rope tied about his waist, springs out onto the beam. He is eager to be of help to the party. Once he reaches the other side of the room, he returns the bow and a nod to Orun, as he is happy to be of service. He then says "I am a merchant and an archer, not an engineer. Any input about in what pattern to position these ropes would be greatly appreciated."

From: Deshnah [2002-03-22 06:56:38]
Subject: Brushing dust from his clothes
Urutlen's rush across the beams lifts a cloud of dust and rust which temporarily envelops a now choking Deshnah.

Brushing the dust from his clothes he settles down to start casting the web across the underside of the room.

The closest to him hear a quiet muttering " I really don't know why I bother sometimes" as Desh flicks the ever growing web throughout the floor.

From: Game Master [2002-03-22 11:20:42]
Subject: and in center ring.
Your enthusiasm is well placed Urutlen," Orun says with a smile. " And it is obvious that you have little fear of heights, I commend your abilities most noble one. I thank you as well for avoiding our shaman Deshnah. He is a valued part of our company and I would hate to lose him. "

"Deshnah, I thank you as well for such a wondrous device, I personally feel much more secure with that web below us. Your actions are most Lan".

With that Orun bows and turns to Churisan and Ssrivan.

"Most noble comrades," he starts. "We are in your hands. With what we have available to us, do you feel that we can accomplish this task. From my prospective, and I have no experience in such matters, it look possible to me. But as I said, I am very ignorant in matters of engineering and building."

From: Chúrisan Sóruna [2002-03-22 15:43:38]
Subject: you want to do what
"Right, well, I guess just a grid of ropes, and perhaps the timbers can help support the porter's burdens if we lash them to the support beams across this area here..."
Realization dawns slowly...
"Just a minute...You want us *all* to go down there? At once? With no idea of what is below? That's madness! What if it breaks? What if the shaft is flooded? What if it is blocked below, how will we get back?

From: Urutlen Utu-Tengmai [2002-03-23 07:16:56]
Subject: I guess I wasn't tiptoeing through the tulips
Bowing to Orun "Yes, I am enthusiastic about helping this party however I can" To Deshnah "I appologise for my duststorm. I wasn't thinking about the problems my haste might cause for you. This is a fine net you have prepared for us and plenty strong it seems." Urutlen then turns and starts performing his tasks as per Churisan's instructions.

From: Game Master [2002-03-25 11:27:04]
Subject: Other Ideas????
"Noble Churisan", Dlarumei starts. " I too share your concern, and I apologies for being contradictory with you on this issue, for I think your points are valid, but I would like for us to consider some other questions as well. So, not that I wish to add to the dilemma, but...

What if there is no way back? What if the room only has enough, what ever, for one trip? How could we get it to return here for more members? What happens if we need the help of one of the party members left behind when we reach the rooms' destination? I agree that it is madness, but no less madness than leaving people behind without knowing what will happen to them, or if we can retrieve them later. I would rather put my faith in our party as a whole and trust that the gods do not have ill intentions for us. If there are other alternatives that will work, then I am open to them. We need to move forward in this expedition, and for the moment, I see no other way".
Dlarumei looks around at the other members present for their input and suggestions.

From: Neshkriuma hiKharsama [2002-03-25 20:36:28]
Subject: Aye!
I stand with Dlarumei - let us go forward (well... downward) to find the secrets that await us. If we are to perish, we may as well perish together, for we shall surely perish separately. Are there any among us who would dare returning alone along the long and winding road that brought us to this precipice? Or wait here alone in this obviously magical and uneasy place? Or give up the treasures or mysteries we seek here? Not I. Let us press on.

From: Deshnah [2002-03-26 05:36:02]
Subject: Sitting up from his handywork
Desh nods and grins at Urutlen, a fine piece of acrobatics, but I would have never forgiven myself if you had fallen before this web was complete.

He listens to the debate occuring at the door - knowing the members well enough to reach the right decision, he gently rises to his feet and begins to carefully explore this room - looking but not touching. He for one intends to be on the first trip down

Subject: fools rush in...
Churisan looked at Dlarumei and Neshkriuma in disbelief. "Will you at least wait until the ring-demons return? They could fly down ahead and at least ascertain that we will not all drown like vermin in a trap. That is assuming of course that none of our noble sorcerors could manage a spell that would allow them to descend in safety."

From: Game Master [2002-03-28 11:53:15]
Subject: Where angles dare to tred
Dlarumei starts, "Most Noble Churisan I see your point, I see it very clearly, but I feel that my concerns are also….."

A servant is seen sprinting from the back of the ranks where the rest of the party is still waiting below. He misses the fifth step as instructed and slows as he approaches the Nobles gathered by the doorway. He seeks out Churisan and approaches him cautiously and respectfully. He speaks quietly as Churisan listens.

From: Chúrisan Sóruna [2002-03-28 13:50:13]
Subject: Look Up
Churisan looked out at Hrissu as the servant speaks, then up at the top of the doorway. When the person finished, Churisan stepped away from the chamber entrance and out onto the landing, still looking up at the doorway. "Noble scholars, the ever-observant and gifted Hrissu has drawn my attention to this. What does it mean?" He pointed at the wall above the door. Those who are outside the chamber or move there and look see a hieroglyph, which is slowly illuminating itself. Part on the ceiling, and part on the wall that descends to the doors of the chamber that have been opened. The legs of the relief sculpture part and straddle the doorway and the feet seem to stand on the platform where the rest of the party are located. The glyph is about 1/3 illuminated starting from the top down. It is almost imperceptible to see until it began to show color.

"Noble Churisan, I will wait for the Ring Demons as long as we dare. I wouldn't want my help in saving them to have been in vain. By your leave, I will continue preparing this room for our trip while we wait. Please keep me posted as to what is going on outside the room."

Subject: Deeper and Deeper?
Almodhim has been shaking her head. She thinks to herself "we can't possibly be going deeper??" She feels the urge to scream her frustration, but decides it wouldn't be appropiate, her being a warrior and all...
But she's does make her way towards Urutlen, asking him while keeping the shaking out of her voice "Is this the only way? Deeper down? Tell me that there is another way..."

From: Urutlen Utu-Tengmai [2002-04-01 19:01:01]
Subject: The best laid paths........
Urutlen continues to busy himself. To Almodhim: "I am happy to be a part of this party. I don't question the decisions of the leaders of the party. They have been here longer than I have and have a better idea of the full scope of the quest. From what I've seen and heard, it appears that this is the path that the Gods have chosen for us. Don't worry, I have a feeling that your services as a warrior will be very useful sooner than you think"

From: Chúrisan Sóruna [2002-04-02 12:52:21]
Subject: Ask the priestess
Churisan overheard Almodhim's remark. "La, it is the priestess, Dlarumei, who leads us on this dark path. She and Orun are our guides, though it appears they are not as familiar with the route as our patron in Monru implied."

From: Game Master [2002-04-02 13:26:25]
Subject: Dlarumei speaks...
"As with any voyage or trading expedition that sets sail, the course is known but the path is always a mystery. Some days it's smooth sailing and others bring great tests of strength and stamina".

"That is how I would view this journey as well. We are sure of where we are headed, we have chosen a path but that path is not proven, so we must deal with what comes as a party of intelligent, strong and determined people. Thus far, we have all done so, and our journey has prospered because of that. We apparently have yet another test before us that will determine whether we grow in strength and wisdom or whether we fade like wild flowers in the summer heat".

"Right now, I am concerned with this image that unfolds before us".

From: Almodhim hi'Harisaya [2002-04-02 19:17:06]
Subject: *sigh*
To Dlarumei: "If this is the only way, I will abide. My sword will be used for the strength of this company. It is my word and my pact." Almodhim sounds calm, but her palms are sweating, and she hopes she won't have to swing her sword with sweaty palms...

Subject: Glyphs
"Gracious Nobles. I admire the beauty of the glyph, but it's changes worry me. I do not think that we wish to be here when it is illumined entire. Take whichever road you choose, my cousins, and I shall follow."

Churisan starts the porters bucket-brigading their bundles into the room, supported by timbers and the metal crossbeams. First the bundles, then the people, so no one with a burden has to take many steps over that perilous shaft. He notes that we can probably fit all persons into the room at once, but we will be very crowded.

From: Ssrivan hiTlokhar [2002-04-06 14:44:12]
Subject: Changing Images
Ssrivan has been quiet while the preparations have been made, as it seemed there was little more for him to do. The glyph has piqued his attention however, so he speaks up once more.

"I too, would advise we are on our way ere the glyph is fully illuminated, as we don't know enough about this place to be sure of its effects. As all here was set for ceremony, it might just summon something to eat all remaining on the platform as sacrifices. I am not quite willing to allow such to happen to me yet--especially since I don't have a clue as to the recipient of said sacrificial energies."

Neshkriuma helps Churisan with the porters, guiding them to make it up the stairs without incident and to efficiently move and position equipment in the little room.

Subject: Salmon Run
The party is a buzz, as everyone seems to be on the move. Like a small army of ants moving and assembling a safe haven for their trip into the unknown, all against a time table that seems to be ticking to an inevitable, unknown end.

Dlarumei keeps an eye on the hieroglyph that seems to become more illuminated each and every moment. Slaves and porters pass around her as though she were a rock in a stream and ever so often a progress report comes from under the black lacquer mask of the priestess of Ksarul.

"It's at mid abdomen", she drones, "Hips, mid thy, it's at the knees now" all marked at 5 minute intervals. She looks to the room beyond the large doors, which is filled with items and perhaps two-thirds of the party, and she makes a move towards where they all are standing. "I would estimate that we have just a short bit of time left before the illumination is complete, I would suggest that we load up and have esteemed Ssrivan get us moving". She then stands by the doors waiting to see what the rest are about to do.

From: Chúrisan Sóruna [2002-04-09 08:26:37]
Subject: inside
Churisan encourages the minions to greater speed. He enters the room, and when most of the gear is loaded, he has some of the smaller servants climb on top of them, so there is more room. Half the guards enter and dispers to the edges of the room, the others wait for the noble priests to enter, then follow and as many as will fit (5?) form a rank in front of the entrance. Naturally should any noble warriors prefer that place, the guards defer. The guards add their polearms to the baggage, and take shields and swords or axes in hand.

From: Neshkriuma hiKharsama [2002-04-10 21:51:39]
Subject: On Board
As the guards have taken their places, Nesh will station himself near the entrance, weapon at the ready.

Subject: At least sardines have oil to move around in.
Once the party has entered the room Orun and Nesh along with Ssrivan step into the chamber. Orun and Nesh draw swords and stand at the ready. Ssrivan makes his way to the three illuminated crystals and selects the one in the middle. Orun nods a sign of readiness and Ssrivan pushes the stone that depresses into the wall and lights up brighter than the other two.

With that, the large doors begin to close, slowly and with some effort. Both Orun and Nesh help the mighty metal door by pushing on them to get them to close. You can see that the illumination of the hieroglyph is on either side of the doorway as the landing is cast into a new and interesting color.

Just before the doors are closed all the way there is a voice from under the chamber, projecting up from underneath Churisan, who upon hearing the sound, moves enough to attack whatever it is that is making the sounds. It is, in fact, the thick accent of Deshnah who is hanging under the chamber on a thin strand of his webbing material. His words are coarse and quick and it is obvious that he is out of breath. Churisan bends down to listen to Deshnah's words and then stands erect again with a look of some contentment on his face. Deshnah shrinks back into his web in repose as the doors close tight.

Once the doors are closed the chamber jolts a bit, sending most everyone's heart into a slight quiver, after that, a long escape of air can be heard and the sound of stone on stone is hear from beyond the doors that have just closed. The chamber hangs in its spot for what seems to be an eternity, but only after a few moments you hear several slaves gasp as the chamber starts to slide down the shaft with a slow, vibrating shuttle, downward. You can feel the cool air start to rush into the chamber through the makeshift, very gapped, flooring that you have had put down. It is refreshing against your body, as the chamber, due to its many occupants, has taken on a musty, humid feel. Looking through some of the gaps, you can see Deshnah resting under the chamber and the walls of the shaft moving past the chamber as you descend lower and lower under ground.

OOC [If there are any preparations that you have made that you would like to tell me about, then please sent them to me in a private post.]
Thanks

From: Ssrivan hiTlokhar [2002-04-15 05:53:00]
Subject: Ssrivan and the Room
"Looks like our timing was perfect. That sound of stone on stone right after we closed the doors indicates my suspicions about the platform were pretty much correct--I don't think we will be able to retreat that way for a while, at least not until the mechanism returns to its resting state, whatever that might be."

Ssrivan then carefully wraps his arm through one of the loops of rope and twists the arm a bit to get the rope to spiral around it twice--once above and once below the elbow, as he wouldn't like to fall in a moment of inattention or stress. He then starts scanning the walls below for further indications of the room's operation--to include the possibility of markings on the shaft walls as we pass.

Subject: Testing for acoustics.
Hrissu waits for everyone to leave the chamber, a little smile on his face. He does not respond to anyone's words or questions. When everyone, including all porters and slaves have left, he sings a few notes and taps on the wall. He seems to be gazing at the backs of the porters heads.

From: Deshnah [2002-04-17 08:56:11]
Subject: Regaining his wind
Desh, Begins to feel his strength returning after his hurried climb down the passage to check on the access to the lower levels.

Having cooled the sweat from his body he decides being suspended under the platform may not be the best location for the current journey and starts to reclimb back onto the platform itself.

Subject: What's next?
At almost the same time that Deshnah pushes himself up into the crowded chamber, the room seems to slow and come to a stop. Breathing can be heard as the anticipation of what will come next seeps into the room. Orun puts weight on his back leg and grips his sword tight. You can see the muscles in his forearm knot up as he steadies himself for something that may, or may not come.

OOC-[I would like to hear from as many of you who can post in the next two days, what, if any, preparations you'll be making for when the doors open. It seems as thought that is going to happen, so just let me know what you're doing, where you're standing, do you have weapons out or not, etc.. You know, the standard stuff. Thanks]

Subject: Stopping rooms
Ssrivan stays right where he is, at least until the advance party has had time to scout out the space in front of the room once the doors open. That would place him to the side, near the panel with the buttons. He will watch to see what is out there though.

Subject: At the ready
Nesh has calmly and unobtrusively taken advantage of a handhold. He is also spreading his weight across what parts of the floor are available and preparing to leap to safety if necessary. A little prayer escapes him, under his breath, hoping that his gods care just a little about his safety.
As the room comes to a stop, he prepares to usher out the advance party and back them up with force, if needed. Sword is in one hand, the other is mostly concealed.

Subject: I's Ready.....
Urutlen has already moved to near the front of the room. His bow is already in hand, with an arrow between the fingers of the same hand. Being taller than the average party member, he is not worried if he is not in the very front. He just doesn't want to have to shoot around too many people. His heart pounds with anticipation, not having to have shot at anything alive since the priest incident.

Almodhim feels the sweat trickling down her face. She readies her sword, continually wiping her hands to make sure to keep her grip. From: Game Master [2002-04-30 10:21:53]
Subject: Open Says Me!
The large iron doors squeal as they start to open, it's a most ear piercing noise as metal grinds and slides over metal. The doors stop after only a few inches and you can hear a buzzing sound and your nose picks up the sent of something that smells like a burning Hyahyu'u beast. Orun nods to Almodhim and together they slip one hand each into the small slit of a door. Their other hand still holding their sword above their head and at the ready. They pulled on the metal doors and nothing seems to move. After a concerted effort Orun calls for a few slaves and a pole.

Squeezing their way through the crowded box of people, three slaves, with a two-meter pole carefully make their way to the doors and Orun. Almodhim and the warrior step back as far as possible within the confines of the room as the slaves start their work. Using the pole as a lever and strong backs, the slaves get the door to move as bit. The next attempt brings a large popping sound, more metal scrapes and a short jolt to the chamber the party is waiting in. Concerned looks flash back and forth and utter silence falls sharp in the room. The slaves, all looking to Ssrivan, receive a signal from him to continue. You can hear the bowstrings being drawn tight on Urutlen's bow and you can see him sighting through the doors narrow slit. Another pull by the slaves and the door pops open a bit more. The opening is now wide enough to accommodate one person passing through the slot at a time. One of the slaves positions himself into the space and pushing with his back against one door and his feet against the other helps to increase the gap a few more inches. It is at that time that Churisan's bowstring is drawn tight and after some non-verbal communication with Urutlen the men fire off a pair of shots. The Arrows streak past the slave in the doorway so closely that he is able to feel the wake of air across his skin and out into a dimly lit corridor.

This is all that Almodhim needed to get her out of the chamber. She bolts for the doors opening, her red braid barely able to keep up with her, and dives through the slit, under the surprised slave and into the hallway. She is seen standing beyond the doors her helmet catching just the right light to send a flash back into the room before she darts out of view. A second arrow is cut lose from Urutlen's bow, and once again slips past the slave, still dumbfounded, and out into the hall. Orun passes a look of disfavor to Dlarumei, presses his way into the opening to peers out the door from over the slave. He then slips through the doors opening into the hallway and out of view. The slave that had frozen in the doorway is no longer there as well and the sounds of skirmish can be heard from beyond the doors. The sounds are short lived, and soon Orun pops his head back into the room.

"Just a minor nuisance," Orun says, "But we should disembark and get moving on down this corridor just in case we have aroused any other creatures that inhabit the depths".

From: Chúrisan Sóruna [2002-05-01 10:46:25]
Subject: Advance!
Churisan orders the guards near the door out first, and follows them. As soon as they have secured sufficient safe space in the corridor beyond, and the noble priests and warriors have emerged, he'll order a 'bucket brigade' to pass out the gear, and then have the last of the porters and servants out. He won't bother trying to pry the door further unless absolutely necessary to get some large item out (and then it will be left to the last).

Subject: Hi ho, Into the Breach
Nesh will reach his off-hand into the pocket of his robes, briefly , then hoist sword and shield through the gap, taking up defensive posture and surveying the situation. He will assume leadership of the rear guard, whne it is formed.

From: Game Master [2002-05-07 18:31:02]
Subject: Alllll outboard!
The slaves and porters work quickly and quietly unloading the chamber into the hallway. One piece after another is handed out person to person in a chain until the entire contents, including the ropes, are in the corridor just around the two metal doors. The noble members of the party have gathered down the corridor just a bit, maybe 8 meters from the doors, they stand in conference over some issue. All those save for Nesh who remains by the doorway with several guards making sure that nothing comes up through the shaft and between the doors.

The corridor is dimly lit by amber colored crystals that have been mounted into the cold, stone walls. The walls are a deep earthen brown with streaks of red and black slate running through them. They are smooth and finished to the point of shining as though polished. The light reflects off the stones finish to help illuminate the hallway and casts strange reflections that flicker all across the walls and ceiling. There is an eerie calm down here. Even your thoughts seem to echo about the hallway. For some reason, this narrow hallway feels vastly wide to you, and though it is maybe 2.5 meters high you don't feel as though you are boxed in. Even the crushing weight of your depth beneath the surface, all the rock and substance that sits above your heads, seems to be nonexistent where you stand. While the walls and the ceiling are of a hard polished stone, the floor is covered with fine dirt. A dirt that has been sifted over and over again until it is a fine powder-like substance. It is soft on the feet and easy on the knees. It makes no dust, nor does it make any sound when you step on it.

The bodies of a baby worm and its Sarkuvian keeper lay dead, about 10 meters from the doors. Urutlen is seen retrieving his arrows from their flesh as Almodhim has taken on the grim task of making sure that the two will not rise again and surprise anyone. The porters and slaves sit quietly next to their charges, waiting for the next order which will bring them to life and action.

OOC-[yes, I think that we should come up with a standard, subterranean marching order. One that would be a default for any time the party is in this sort of area. We are welcome to change it for specific events or for other reasons, but I would make the assumption that the default order would automatically come into play when the party enters such areas unless I was otherwise instructed by you, the players. All of you can state your preferences of position by posting privately to me, and the rest of the party, in the next couple of days. That way Churisan, Nesh, and Orun might come up with an order based on preference. Or, and probably the better solution, Churisan and Nesh could simply take it upon themselves to create an order based on what they feel would be the most beneficial to the party as a whole.]

I would be willing to go ahead of the group, when needed, as a "scout" if you will. Might I also suggest that we dispose of the bodies of this priest and his "pet". We could dump them down that shaft and then close those doors afterwards."

Good idea," Orun says, "We can toss the bodies down the shaft and clean up a bit, that way we will not have tell tail signs of our presence."

Dlarumei speaks up " I think that all of you should know that Kunur is waiting for us just a ways down this corridor. He had promised to be there and I am sure, due to our delay, that he has been waiting. What ever we do, I would suggest that we do it quickly and get moving. I do not like the fact that this acolyte chose this "removed" area to raise his pet. It makes me wonder what other changes have happened from the time we got our information till now.

Might I suggest that we decide our order as we move along? I know the path to get us to Kunur; from there he has all the rest of the way scoped out. If things go well, we should be in the tubeway in less than one days time."

I hold up my lantern to look again at the scroll entrusted to me by Kunur. It contains directions that begin at a landmark known to the two of us deep in the City of Sarku's Tsuru'um. From there, it winds circuitously downward to a level that I'm guessing has to be early Bednalljan or older. I am most fortunate to have Sarku's blessing, at least for my journey down. Had it not been for this enchantment cast upon my holy symbol, the blessed undead would surely have new companions.

After traveling for almost a full day through corridors and vast ruined complexes of stone and rubble, I finally arrive at my destination, the room with distinctive black and red inscriptions painted in bold relief on the walls. At my direction, my slaves carefully lower their burden suspended from the pole between them uttering quiet sighs of relief. I find a conspicuous corner to meditate in, awaiting the arrival of my charges.

Thinking to myself ... this mission is clearly important. Had it not been for the intervention of Kunur, I'm sure I would not have received this opportunity. It's difficult to be an outsider and unproven!

"Allow me to suggest an arrangement. We are unlikely to be able to walk more than two abreast in these tunnels. Let us have Urutlen's bow and Almodhim's blades at the front. You are of course welcome to scout ahead or stay with the main group as you choose. At the front of the main body Orun (who may also choose an advance position) and Lobi [ooc: a portly fellow but quick with his short bow], and behind them Nebussa and Epengar [a crossbowman and a swordsman], Dogengor [another xbow] and Neshkriuma. Then the noble priests and scholars, perhaps led by Dlarumei and the Livyani, for they seem to have offensive magic. The guards are all trained to kneel at the command of "Guards Down" from Orun, Neshkriuma, or myself, so that sorcerors may employ their magic. By the way, have your magical powers been restored? I understand they did not function in the blue chamber above. In any case, after Dlarumei and her companion would walk the exalted Hrissu, the noble scholars Ssrivan and Adzul, and ah, Deshnah, accompanied by four swordsmen. Then would follow the servants, close at hand to the noble priests should they be needed. Among them another pair of swordsmen, and at the rear a mixed body of swordsmen and archers. With Neshkriuma's permission, I will command the rear guard, and he may oversee the guards at the front. Naturally you persons of quality may choose other places within the group, this is just my humble suggestion. As soon as this is settled, we will depart."

[ooc: Hi all, I'm suggesting this as our default order in narrow spaces. Feel free to place your character differently, and make other suggestions if you wish. We have about 60 people in the group (c. 30 bearers and servants, 17 guards, 3 major NPCs and soon to be 9 PCs).]

Dlarumei shuffles a bit and speaks to the group. " I feel that our Noble Churisan has devised a good strong rank and file order. Unless there are any serious objections as to your placement amongst our noble ranks then I suggest that we take our places and start out. Not to be contradictory to our noble warrior of Karakan I would have need of being amongst those in the front ranks for this first part of our journey, as I know the path that we must follow to meet with Kunur. At that point I will gladly remove myself to the position that Churisan has suggested for me. I find his reasoning to be soundly thought out and well planned."

"Yes I agree," Orun says as he steps forward. "From a military standpoint it is as good an order as could be devised in our situation. First, however, let us dispose of these," he makes a sweeping gesture towards the two dead bodies. "I would suggest, however, Noble Urutlen Utu-Tengmai that we have some of the slaves dispose of them down the shaft. I would not waste your talents, or any other nobles, on such mundane activities."

Orun makes a quick gesture and seven or eight slaves move immediately and begin with the removal of the bodies and to clean up the area in which they had lain. The slaves move quickly and quietly and with much respect for the dead. The bodies are slipped between the large iron doors and allowed to fall, silently, down the shaft. Quite a bit of time passes before a faint splash is heard coming up the shaft. With that, the deed was done and several of the slaves forced the iron doors shut.

The party starts moving down the corridor in a slow, cautious snake like pulse. All are constantly thinking of avoiding extra noise that would give away their position and cause the worshipers of Sarku to descend upon them in this dark, cool hell. Dlarumei studies several small map stones as she walks at the head of the column taking the party down one hallway and then another. She walks with cautions determination and has every appearance of a confident escort. Orun and Lobi keep a close eye on the corridor to the front while Urutlen's bow and Almodhim's blades are at the ready for any intruders that might appear from the nooks and crannies as well as other hallways that are passed on the sides of your current path. Churisan and the rear guard keep a constant Vigil so the party is not to be surprised from the back.

Dlarumei waves a stick with a bright light at its end to signify that the party is turning and also to let everyone know that she is able to cast spells once again. It is a simple, novice spell but its significance is great. The great hall had prevented magic earlier, but its effects seem not to have been lasting.

The party continues on for two hours of constant walking through the underground. Turning this corner and entering that particular hallway instead of the one to the left or right. Finally you come to a corridor that seems to run into a dead end. Dlarumei pays no attention to this obvious fact as she continues on down to the hallways end. Without slowing she walk through the stonewall at the corridors end and disappears behind it. The rest of the front group follows and disappears just as easily. The slaves and porters show some hesitance yet manage to make it through easily as well.

Once the entire party has passed through the wall you can see that the corridor continues on for sever hundred meters. The corridor seems never used, the walls are dust laden and the torch heads which protrude from the rough hewn stone are so old that just lightly brushing against their iron wall mounts turns them to dust.

At the end of this ancient looking path there is a large set of ornately carved wooden doors with large iron rings as pulls. Glyphs and runes are carved in exquisite detail throughout the structure of the doors and posts that support them.

Dlarumei removes a small gem-like object from within the folds of her robe and places it into a small impression in the center of the large door to the right. There are several small noises and the doors begin to open out towards the party. Once the doors open wide enough to see what is on their interior, you notice a room with distinctive black and red inscriptions painted in bold relief on the walls. There, to the far side of the room, is a man dressed the robes of a Sarku priest standing from where he had been in repose on the floor. Next to him are several bundles and a few slaves.

Noble lady, Kunur is indeed doing well. However, as with all Temples, those that are most capable are in short supply. The Temple of Sarku has him performing some sensitive task that requires that he travel extensively. Good friend that I am, I am not privileged to know the specifics of his activities. However, it is because he takes his responsibilities so seriously and was duty-bound to be elsewhere that I am here. Consider, what kind of friend you would send to represent you in such a potentially dangerous endeavor? While Kunur is quite capable, you will find me at least equal in knowledge and, in some areas, possessed of greater experience.

Is this the question that you wished to speak to me privately about or is there perhaps some other matter? If not, I need to speak with all of you about the journey from this room to the tubeway. It is a way frought with potential peril. And that brings me to the disguises that I've brought to enhance your standing in the Sarku community.
