Subject: When it's time to relax...
There is an eerie calm that takes over the party, the calm after the storm so to speak. With little rest lately and several skirmishes the fatigue and lack of good food is finally taking its toll. With several injuries and other needing recuperation the party makes the decision to take a serious rest. Several fires are started just down the hall, where the opening is larger and the smoke can vent easily out of doors. Fortunately Neshkriuma's cook has been able to hold on to his spices and most of the more flavorful foods, the man has been having battles of his own and now he is faced with only having two of the six large pots that he has brought at the beginning of the journey. Nonetheless, the smalls of exquisite cuisine waft there way down to the end station and lift the spirits of those who wait for a well-disserved repast.

Jenge has taken over for Almodhim, in the care of Churisan and Almodhim is very grateful for this. She has been trained to destroy life and ravage what remains. Healing and caring for those injured has never been part of her makeup, and while she is happy to have been of some service she is egger to relinquish her helpful duties to someone who is better suited for that than she.

Jenge applies a little healing magic to get Churisan started on the road to recovery. It is a delicate task he has taken on and very important that Churisan is brought back to reality in a gentle and calm fashion. Many things can plague men, but the ravages of war run deep and scare areas not even know to him. Deshnah, upon returning, heats up a bit more of a blend that he adds a few extra herbs to, and brings the small cup of bitter brew to Jenge, where together they coax Churisan, in his semi conscious state, to swallow the liquid as then lay him back to rest. He is set in a darkened corner on the far eastern wall where two slave girls are placed to watch for his return to the conscience world and a small, fragrant candle is lit, which sends honey sweet odors to the air around him. Then Jenge and Deshnah join Shih in healing other than may need it before sitting down to enjoy a most excellent meal.

Hrissu begins singing soft, familiar refrains, in pleasant tones that lull many into an excellent state of restfulness. The refrains seem to calm and sooth slave, porter and noble alike as the end stations structure seems well suited for such melodic muses.

The Livyani Priest seems incased in some sort of transparent shell as he lies on the floor face down. Any attempt to touch him or see to him have meet with a spark of blue and a fogging over of the inside of the protective barrier. After several attempts and esurience from Dlarumei he is left to return on his own.

Dlarumei sits and leans up against the wall, she has been visibly shaken from this last encounter, five large spells in such a short period of time is quite a drain for even the strongest of magic users. Ssrivan sees to it that she is comfortable and puts his nurse/ scribe at her side to see to her and help in any way she can.

After Orun has been healed he walks over to where Dlarumei is resting and places two small crystals, one at her feet and one above her head, and then sits down next to her and begins talking to her. After a few moments, he leans up against the wall as well, his equipment placed in some order on the floor that would allow him easy and quick access to any one of his weapons if need be.

Nesh, after helping with Churisan has made perfect arrangements with the guards. There is a schedule of who sleeps, who eats, who paces and who stands still, where they go and how they act. His arrangements seem to be pleasing to the guards and work very well for the area that the party is involved in. With this having been completed, Neshkriuma takes some food to eat and watches carefully all that is going on as he enjoys a hot meal. Then, when that is finished, and feeling confident in his plan, he makes a bed up against the wall and tucks in for a well-deserved sleep.

Ssrivan too will rest, but only after he has spent most of the daylight hours examining to iron door at the end of the hall. Once the sun has passed to the other side of the mountain and does not offer him enough light for the finer details of his work, he returns to the end station and also finds a place to rest.

Almodhim packs herself into a corner and sleeps hard and well. She has no problem sleeping on rock or bed, and it overtakes her quickly and with a vengeance.

Urutlen is the only one that no one has seen nor heard from in quite some time. He was noticed during the battle but he is now gone. Though he is gone, no one can report seeing him fall off the cliff or being taken by either demon. Several of the nobles seem unconcerned by this at the moment, either they know something that they have yet to share or they are too tired to care.

Subject: barely
Churisan regained consciousness when he got a little magical healing, but only just. He seems very exhausted, and once allowed to rest in his dark candle-lit corner, he sinks deep into sleep.

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-08-18 11:35:33]
Subject: Nine loose ends
Shih's sleep is interrupted by one of his slaves gently shaking his foot as they have been instructed to do in order to safely wake him. After a brief whispered conversation, Shih gets up and approaches the hole where nine solitary figures can be dimly seen. Speaking to these nine in a strange language, they climb back down into the hole. Shih returns to sleep.

****************

After a long rejuvenating sleep, Shih awakens. Though he attributes it to Deshnah's tea, he is still surprised that he actually feels quite good instead of bruised and sore. Hopefully, everyone had a bit of that tea; today is going to be long and arduous! After going to the parapet to contemplate the view and relieve himself, he checks on the health and wellbeing of his slaves. Once they have all had breakfast, he instructs them to break out the rope and to secure the rest of their belongings for a climb. With practiced efficiency and quiet banter, they go about these preparations.

From: Orun Vu'urtesh [2003-08-18 16:52:49]
Subject: Up and,
Orun awaken to the sounds of people moving about. He and Dlarumei have been exchanging sleep intervals to keep a safe eye on the group throughout this time of resting.

He stands slowly and stretches quietly and leaving his gear, with the exception of his spear, he follows Shih to the large open hole to relieve himself as well. He speaks quietly to Shih out of respect for those still sleeping and then returns to his spot after retrieving some of the breakfast offered, to eat peacefully with the rising sun.

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-08-18 22:44:13]
Subject: An exchange of pleasantries
OOC: Though you wouldn't be aware of this quiet dialog between Orun and Shih, I thought some of you might find it interesting nonetheless.

ORUN:
"Having problems with your new friends?" Orun asks "I noticed that they seemed confused last night. I hope they won't be any trouble for you ... I would hate to divide your attention between our group and the undead."

Orun's dislike for the undead is apparent in his last statement and he doesn't even try to hide it. As a worshiper of Karakan, he feels it's a waste to not send them on to ultimate glory. If they weren't slaves, I'm sure he would have had something more to say.

SHIH:
"Noble Orun, by my strictures, it is no less LAN than your martial pursuits to follow the dictates of the Worm Lord. As you have clearly seen, ever-lasting life is a reality, not a mere promise. However, I do honestly wish that you expire in martial glory. For YOU, this would be LAN!" =)

The way that Shih says this last statement probably sets Orun's teeth on edge.

"If it's my Lord's will, I choose to not leave things unfinished. Think on it ... we have but scratched the surface of the wonders of our world ... a world created by our Gods. I choose to honor the blinding beauty of their creation throughout the ages."

Subject: Waking to the smell....
Desh seems quietly happy and content with himself and he completes his waking and stretching routine before trundling over to the Breakfast pit.

A few quiet words with the cooking slaves results in a large plate of delicacies for him.

Subject: Breakfast of Champions
After a troubled rest, Jenge stretches and wakes to the company's movements. Food appears to be a good idea at this time, so the slight priest finds himself beside Deshnah, garnering breakfast from the cooks. "Lord Deshnah," Jenge speaks in the correct form of respect for one of a great clan, "could I have the honor of joining you as you break your fast?"

If he is welcome he will sit, if not he will move off to a position where he can watch both the party, and the wild outdoors through a window.

From: Orun Vu'urtesh [2003-08-19 12:43:57]
Subject: As long as it's out in the open
Orun pauses after taking one step and turns slowly to Shih. He places a hand on his chin a slowly rubs the stubble that has sprouted there. With a somewhat whimsical and pensive tone he says.

"I am sure that we will always have our differences, noble Shih, but I am not convinced that staggering around in darkness as a non-living entity is an enjoyable way to live ever lasting. Besides, Sarku does not have the market on the ever glorious after life. But, my noble worshiper of the worm lord, it is far too early to begin such discussions no matter how Lan they are, perhaps when we have finished our quest and receive the glory from our task will we be able to sit for long spells and openly debate our points of view. Until then, I fully expect that we will continue to snipe at each other in a playful fashion. I look forward to hearing more whispers and cloaked comments just as much as I will enjoy send them."

With a smile Orun turn and heads back to the end station for the meal as previously described.

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-08-19 14:16:23]
Subject: One final thought
Shih moves quickly to walk besides Orun.

"For what it's worth Orun, I also would not choose to stumble around as a mere shedra. I have barely begun my journey into the inner teachings within my temple. A truly higher existence IS possible."

From: Orun Vu'urtesh [2003-08-19 17:11:58]
Subject: Can I let him have the last word?
"Your words are true, priest, but is it YOUR version? That higher existence remains to be seen. Unfortunately one must sail to the isle to find out." :-)

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-08-19 22:09:41]
Subject: A great day
Shih smiles and reflects that Orun is much crisper in the morning.

"Deshnah, I like your tea! Is the Warrior of Creation - what everyone seems to refer to as the Ring Demon - now destroyed? Given what you helped me learn, that being had a higher purpose once. What an amazing loss to the cause of Life. Why didn't it recognize ..." Shih gives a small shrug.

"So, do we let Churisan sleep himself out? I suspect that we could be here a while. If not, I'm suggesting that someone from our group that is not a warrior, but not perceived as a threat, should wake him ... perhaps Dlarumei. Unlike most of us, he has not eaten yet. He'll need his energy."

Shih is actually most concerned with the Livyani Priest. What an enigma! That welp of a s'ro saved my life and possibly that of the whole group. Has he surfaced or is he still frozen?

"Deshnah, the Livyani Priest and possibly Churisan may need some of your healing tea to revitalize them when they do wake."

"Dlarumei, will he awaken?"

From: Neshkriuma Kharsama [2003-08-20 12:47:15]
Subject: Awakening
Neshkriuma awakes, expectantly stretching his injured areas. He strolls through the area, conferring with the guards, and ends at the side of Churisan. He has obviously overheard Shih's comments to Orun and Dlarumei about Churisan. Nesh will kneel at Chur's side while he attempts to quietly catch the attention of Shih, Orun and Dlarumei. He is obviously volunteering to do the awakening. Any close by can hear Nesh muttering "...might as well attempt this now... no reason to die on a full stomach and waste a good breakfast..."

From: Dlarumei Ba'ashcha [2003-08-20 13:17:11]
Subject: Up and,... never mind
Dlarumei looks up from her morning meal and says in general:

"From what I have experienced, the Livyani Priest is within a protective dome that will dissipate once he returns and is able to open it from the inside. It is a safeguard to protect the caller so if there are any lingering elements he is not attacked while recuperating. He can be there for a short time or a long time depending what it took to call the demon. I am not sure, but because we are quite a ways from Livyanu he will need some time to recuperate. But then I feel that we will need some time as well. Though we have all rested well during the night, many of us are still drawn looking and will need a bit more time to become fresh again. Besides, we are not sure how long Churisan will need."

She then notices Nesh as he kneels beside Chruisan.

"Hold Noble Battle Mage! Let us confer with Deshnah before attempting to wake our friend. It may be better to let him arrive in his own time. Deshnah, what say you?"

From: Ssrivan Tlokhar [2003-08-20 19:17:55]
Subject: Mornings, breakfasts, and doors
The morning bustle has finally drawn Ssrivan from his sleep. He uncradles his head from his pack and returns it to his back after a nice morning stretch. He will then wander over to see what nice things await for breakfast, though he fears the majority of things may have already been consumed by his companions, as he is definitely a bit later than they in his quest for morning sustenance.

After snagging a nice portion of whatever remains, he nods to his delectable scribe to follow as he returns to his inspection of the iron door.

After Almodhim's somewhat fitful sleep, she rouses herself and finds some breakfast. While she eats, she looks in Jenge's direction with a questioning look...

Subject: Nod's as Good as...

While waiting for Deshnah's reply as to breakfast company, Jenge catches Almodhim's eye and waves her over with pleasure. Should Deshnah decline over Almodhim's presence, Jenge will not be too disappointed.

From: Deshnah [2003-08-21 01:52:13]
Subject: Join me...
Desh is happy to have some company while he sits and keeps an eye over Churisan.

TO all in range - and especially those close to Churisan he advises " Churisan is currently on a journey - Shih probably understands this needs both time and also some temporary time away from us all, as well as the Tea I have helped him speed to recovery through other skills our Tribe trust in me - please ensure Churisan is not disturbed until he arouses naturally" While he gives a small knowing nod towards Shih in the hope he will receive support form another in the party more used to commanding nobles than he"

From: Neshkriuma Kharsama [2003-08-21 10:27:14]
Subject: Understood
Nesh will raise a hand and nod quietly at all who are delivering helpful instructions as to Churisan's care. Carefully, he will rise and seek Orun's company for some breakfast, and maybe some healing tea, as yesterday's wounds are not completely erased...

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-08-21 10:41:53]
Subject: Stand down
Though the gear is now packed for a climb, hearing Dlarumei's comments, Shih directs his slaves to relax. We could be here for days.

"Deshnah, if you've sent Churisan on the same wild journey you treated me to, then he will certainly have a better perspective soon on what that demon carried off. If that artifact somehow kills and absorbs the power of that demon, might it be able to return to us? Surely, Churisan and it have some mystical tie."

From: Deshnah [2003-08-22 05:52:05]
Subject: Pondering
"Shih, You ask a humble Shamen important and interesting questions, let me think about what you ask and see if any of my predecessors can assist in your questions" With which Desh gently rests his chin on his chest and closes his eyes...

From: Almodhim Harisaya [2003-08-22 14:36:59]
Subject: Jenge
Almodhim takes her breakfast with her over to Jenge. She hopes for a quiet word with him while she eats. She ponders for a moment...wondering what to speak about.

From: Orun Vu'urtesh [2003-08-22 22:50:21]
Subject: Table for two.
Orun looks up from his feeding and notices Nesh approaching. With a mocking upper class gesture he dusts off a section of the stone floor and entreats the battle mage to sit with him.

"Finest seat in the house, my noble lord, and an honor if you were to join me."

The big mans smile at Nesh shows that he truly means that he would like his company for breaking the fast.

From: Jenge Varion [2003-08-24 09:37:06]
Subject: Insight?
After everyone is settled, Jenge will ask Almodhim "Well, and have you any insights to share regarding our poor Churisan and his most unusual actions? I for one am baffled by what has recently transpired here." His expression is open and shows both puzzlement and frustration.

From: Neshkriuma Kharsama [2003-08-24 13:28:07]
Subject: A seat without dust?
... Surely, this is a treat! Nesh lowers his smallish frame to sit beside the mountainous Orun and break his fast.

From: Deshnah [2003-08-26 02:16:41]
Subject: Recent events
"Jenge, I am most bemused by the apparent sudden changes in our now sleeping friend. Can anyone remember when he first started to act strangely? I only noticed the change when he charged off down the corridor."

Meanwhile to Shih, Desh acknowledges his patience in waiting for an answer, "Shih, there are many questions to be answered here, some I can not understand let alone help. Simply because I come form far away does not make me conversant with everything which happens which is beyond your common experience" with a smile he chuckles to himself and adds " Perhaps we need someone form the South to counter my Northern experience!"

Continuing on " However I believe the magic I called forth has hopefully banished the Ring Demon from this Plane and I would hope this is permanent - although who knows when gods and magicians can interfere?"

Lastly, with a large grin" But adventures are far less fun if you have certainly in what you face. Now is there anymore of the breakfast to go around?"

From: Almodhim Harisaya [2003-08-29 19:45:57]
Subject: about Chur....
I have been wondering myself, noble Jenge. Let me think on this but for a moment as I break my fast and I will tell you what I think anon....

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-09-04 11:01:47]
Subject: Trip'n
Shih grimaces and stares at Deshnah. Nodding and pursing his lips, he makes a decision. Standing, he addresses the group.

"The individual in our group with the greatest knowledge of spheres is our friend Deshnah. You see, he has one with him ... an artifact of his people that he's the most recent caretaker of. There were hundreds of caretakers before him. But, I definitely would not advise anyone asking too many questions about it. I did. By way of answer, he slipped it to me in a rag. If I survived the encounter, he reasoned, then I was not perceived as a risk to him and if I didn't, then I would be only one more in an extremely long list of dead due to his machinations. Still, I pushed a bit too hard, so I don't blame Deshnah. We don't live in his straightforward world." =)

"It's not clear to me whether Deshnah has sent Churisan on the same journey of discovery and, perhaps, healing. The journey he sent me on when I touched the sphere traversed ages past …"

"The darkness was overwhelming and complete; there was a sense of panic until I felt a cool breeze blow against my skin. I seemed to be floating in a dark liquid that supported me and through which I is able to move in a swimming fashion. I held my breath until I could hold it no longer, but instead of filling my lungs with asphyxiating liquids, I was able to breath normally. There was a light shining above the liquid, beaming down through the darkness. I swam towards that light. The journey was long and at times there seemed to be no way that I would make it to the surface. On the way, I passed ghostly images of beasts and foul as they run or flew around in the dark essence. I eventually became tired. I removed my robes, which were weighing me down. It is then that I realized that I was moving upward towards the surface, gaining speed all the while. The liquid started streaming past me and soon I was moving fast enough that the liquid itself resisted my speed. The spot of light became brighter as I sped towards the surface, leaving behind all that I possessed. My hair, markings, finery and jewelry were stripped clean by the force of the liquid."

"Soon I erupted from the liquid, shooting like an arrow loosed into the sky. As I rose above the liquid I spread my arms slowing my ascent."

"Hanging in the middle of a brilliant sunrise, I watched the landscape in all directions at once viewing every point of the compass without moving a muscle. I watched as the landscape and shoreline changed in a constant struggle of color and mass; each giving and taking, claiming and reclaiming what was lost. Clouds flowed by in a continuous stream overhead until the world took on a phosphorescent blue cast."

"A large red temple rose up out of the landscape to block out the sun's golden rays. Red, blue and green colored humanoid creatures walked around the temple base creating intricate patterns as their paths intertwined. At the apex of the temple, a small yellow light exploded into a thousand fragments, which scattered in all directions. Several of the small, gnat-sized fragments stoped just before me, pausing there. Soon the rest of the glowing fragments started to circle about and gather together in patterns, like small bands of birds do when moving from treetop to treetop. The patterns swirled and coalesced, making their way to the few fragments before me. Soon, they began to meld together, swirling and joining, weaving a pattern, which took the form of a beautiful woman. Her shape was pleasing and inviting. She offered me her hand and motioned for me to follow. Taking her hand, I burst into thousands of fragments, just like the woman who had formed before me."

"Each one of my thousand pieces flowed at my command, following the woman, encircling her, drifting towards the water, the mountains, and the shoreline. I was in all places at once, individual journeys all experienced at the same time. The word "focus" dominated my mind and when I did, the fragments reassembled to solidify into my body standing on the very top of the temple. There I watched couples of men and women joining together and, in their oneness, become transformed into objects and sent out into the world. One of these objects was what this group refers to as The Ring Demon. These objects represented geometric patterns more than actual useful objects that one could manipulate. Over the horizon, when these objects reached their destinations, there was a small burst of light as though each burst upon landing."

"Then a thunderous bolt came from the sky and split the temple in twain. The woman and I were cast into thousands of pieces again, from which we watched the landscape being consumed by fire and water. Our fragments intertwined as eons past and the land and sea continued their battle for dominion. A small thatched building finally appeared on the shoreline and our fragments converged to form our bodies at its door, as though they were summonsed to do so. The door swung open. Before me, I saw a small room with a fireplace and standing before that a table set for two. The woman invited me to sit for the feast that was prepared and laid out before me. When she lifted the cover on the plate before me, Deshnah was under the lid. Quickly, he grew to his full height. Behind him were hundreds, maybe thousands, of others who looked like Deshnah trailing off for as far as the eye could see. Deshnah picked me up and passed to the next person, who in turn passed me on to the next, and so on. My speed of passing increased until I reached the end of the line, where a small child played with a sphere in a box as his parents formed a circle around him. In the center of the child's chest was a symbol, a circle with a dish beneath it, holding the circle."

"From behind this serene vision a terrible monster burst up through the earth and, with shattering rock and fists full of trees, lunged towards the five people there. The woman took my hand as again we fragmented ourselves as the beast attacked the child and his parents. None of them moved or even acknowledged the demon as it crashed down upon them. When the dust finally cleared though, the child was a young man and his parents were only slightly older. No harm had come of the attack and the demon was gone."

"With that, the woman, now in her more human form, took my fragments and formed them into a ball that she cast skyward, keeping one small fragment that she held in her hand. I flew upward at tremendous speed, falling apart the higher I traveled, up above the clouds, into the thin air of the planet and soon out into space itself, where the dark cold began to consume me. There was a chill and then complete darkness as all stars and planets faded from view."

"Though ages had passed for me, I awoke on the floor staring into Deshnah's serene face while at the other end of this platform, what I've referred to as the Warrior of Creation and you call the Ring Demon were doing battle with the rest of our group. Below us now appears to be the sea from my vision."

Exhausted from recounting his experience, Shih takes a drink of water and looks around expectantly. How had everyone interpreted my vision?

Subject: A poetic recounting
Shih, If in no other way I feel sure your poetic rending of this journey will bring much interest over camp fires for years to come.
In many ways I too remember the journey - although now several years ago.

I to would be interested in any other views and insights the party has.
And finally yes, Churisan is also heading on a similar path - I think...

Subject: All good things must...
The sun rises on the party in their third day of rest since the battle with the ring demon. It has been a time of much needed rejuvenation for some, and a battle to keep from going insane with boredom for others. Still the familiar smells of hearty breakfast items fill the air and begin to wake those still in slumber. If nothing else it can be said that the Chief that Nesh has brought along has created some wonderfully creative and delicious repasts during this recuperative time period. It is easy to see that his battles are fought on a different plane and his weapons are of elements and hardened materials in shapes unlike those most familiar to the rest. With another victory won the chief serves the spoils, a delicious breakfast, to all those who will partake.

Churisan has come back into the land of conscience some time during the night and was immediately attended to by Deshnah who plied him with small amounts of food and drink to nourish him. The Livyani Priest was also awake and sitting against the wall with a cup of tea when the majority of the party rose from sleep.

Over the past several days Ssrivan has devoted much time to the iron door at the end of the hallway. He has tapped and scratched, cleaned and polished various parts and worked many hours dictating and himself writing notes and sketches into the volumes he carries with him.

Shih has had his slaves and others working on mounting the outside cliff face to try and get on top of the hallway roof in the hopes of finding a secondary means of travel. There many attempts have all ended in failure and close calls as the shale stone allows for no purchase or safe hold. The attempts came to an end when Shih's most trusted slave slid from the face and were it not for the rope around his waist he would have traveled the path of the greater demon several day prior. What little he was able to gather was that there was no other or alternative rout above the hallway. That the hallway appeared to be a natural pathway in the face of the mountain that someone has enhanced to what it is today.

Others in the party have spent time getting better acquainted with each other while some have spent their time also honing and working weapons over and over again. The slaves and porters have taken this time to organize the items that still remain and to consolidate things for quicker and more efficient travel. Most everyone is ready to begin the journey again and knows the path they must now embark on.

Subject: Packed and ready ... and then there's the door
"It's good to see our noble Churisan and Livyani Priest back among the conscious. You wouldn't believe what's been happening while you've been sleeping. We were attacked by the biggest h'ma (ooc: sheep) I've ever seen. Truly, it was so great that only one such could possibly live on the top of this mountain. It fell to its doom, so you're safe." =)

"Noble Ssrivan, as I have found a truly excellent way to die unless Dlarumei would fly up and secure a rope above, I'm hoping you have better news about yon metal door. The lack of red suggests that it is some other metal than iron."

Shih privately hopes it's not ancients metal. He was once horribly injured by a broken down ru'un that decided to explode when he kra'd it. The shards of ancients metal were actually ceramic with layered metal within, nearly indestructable by normal means.

"it seems this door has much to tell us about itself. It is most definitely metal of the ancients, and if my assumptions are correct, it is also hollow--though that fact alone will not get us past it, as it is likely much stronger than any force we could use to try and pass it. The writing on the door is of the same nature as that which we found in the banquet room, though it is not sorcerously energized this time--at least not yet. The door has two locks and I have found two keys, though one does not seem to fit either of the locks, leading me to believe that it is for the door behind this one. I have not been able to puzzle out any of the meaning of the writing yet, though Dlarumei may have some insight, now that we know where to look."

Dlarumei moves to the door slowly, concentrating on the hallway and the position of the door as she approaches the monolithic metal menace. She has been rather dormant over the past three days, mostly sleeping and chanting, eating very little till this morning where she fed herself an extremely hardy breakfast, largely at Orun request, but it was obvious that she was grateful for the food and enjoyed it much. She stands almost motionless as she and Ssrivan exchange pleasantries and he informs her of his findings. She asks a few questions and then walks forward and touches the door. First with her hands and then she places her ear to the metal as though to listen for a clue of some sort. She spends a goodly amount of time simply listening to the door before she pulls herself away and begins to trace some of the symbols with her finger. Almost in a childlike fashion her finger and hand dances through and around the symbols impressed into the metal door. She then returns to Ssrivan and they speak at some length.

Moving closer to Ssrivan and Dlarumei brings you in on the conversations, or at least parts of them. They seem to keep no secrets but speak plainly as though they were the only two in the hallway.

Ssrivan:
I have counted twelve lines of text or symbols impressed upon this door and within these symbols there are other, perhaps older and small symbols stamped into the metal. There are also twelve band of intertwining design that encompass or frame the door, or so it would seem. This slave spent many hours tracing the design to find that it is but one long strand that intertwines upon itself around the door twelve times.

Dlarumei:
Interesting, I have some vague recollection of the number twelve being significant in some fashion, but my studies, unfortunately, did not focus on such things and I can't remember there being al lot on specific number sequences anyway. The smaller symbols interest me though. They seem to be stamped from the backside of the metal while the larger symbols are pressed in from this side.

Ssrivan:
Yes, this does seem to be the case, it also lends credence to my thoughts that the door is hollow or that this is a metal skin covering some other kind of substance that makes up the door. The metal has been preserved by some clear coating that took a slave almost six hours to scratch through in a very small spot. The metal underneath is infused with ceramics and it is extremely hard.

Dlarumei:
It seems that Shih's fears will be realized as far as the enduring qualities of this door. I was unable to hear a thing on the other side of the door, nor was I able to pick up any inkling of what could be shut in on the other side. I am sure that is why it is metal.

Ssrivan:
I would like to investigate some other theories that I have about this second key, if you would like to assist, I am searching for some smaller holes in the shape of a triangle that might be located in the walls on either side of the door.

The two of them search for some time, and perhaps you join in on the venture. There are no discoveries on the wall on either side of the door. So Ssrivan expands the search, calling on any of you who are helping to search the other walls in the hallway. There are holes to be found on the wall opposite of where the windows are. You draw Ssrivan's attention to every spot where there are holes to be found and watch as his mind starts whirling with ideas. You watch him as he regards the windowed wall, with its large gaping maw where windows used to be and where Deshnah stands in strange concentration, and then you watch as Ssrivan paces the hallway, from one end to the other and then back again. In front of the iron door he pauses again, puts his hand to his chin and begins pondering something.

Jenge continues sketching the symbols on the door, hoping to recognize something. He inadvertantly follows the conversation between Dlarumei and Ssrivan, and takes occasional glances over his shoulder at Deshnah. Finally, the scholar looks up at Almodhim with a smile as she joins him.

"This appears to be where all the 'action' is, for the time being. Not quite your preference, I'm sure, but very familiar to me."

Assuming he has nothing to add to Ssrivan's conversation, he continutes sketching until asked to search for a small triangular keyhole. Then he good-naturedly participates in the search.

It seems clear from Ssrivan's pacing that he's interpreting the patterns on the door as a map to the second keyhole. Leaving that aspect to him and so that we don't miss something obvious, I cast POE and climb down to look at the area where the spherical ru'un that was pulling our tubeway cars would have come to rest. Are there symbols, holes or anything else that would indicate that the ru'un activated something? Is the depression it would have rested in a pressure plate?

To the group by the door:

"Considering how we came here, and the way that doors seemed to open magically before us once we began, it doesn't make sense for this door to be this hard to open from this side. The door and its underlying pattern could be a very elaborate trap for individuals who did not travel here by approved means!"

Shih clears his throat a few times to get Ssrivan's attention.

"Ssrivan, the keys you found could be just what they appear to be and that door could be a map. Alternately, it could be a very elaborate trap to capture the interest of someone like you. Why would that door be this hard to open from this side? While there's a way to recharge the spherical ru'un down here, there's also what seems to be a pressure plate. It may have no more merit than to simply activate the recharging. Or, it may have some other purpose. I don't have your abilities to understand more about this."

Ask them kindly, that if they have concerns about this place that we all address them as a group and prepare for them BEFORE they try anything. Once he has *someone's* attention, even if only Shih's, ;) , he will speak loudly enough so that his voice carries.

"Our noble companion, the Priest Shih, has inspected the station. I suspect that he will concur with me, when I say that the presence of the train (and its ru'un) at the station might normally trigger certain things. Without it, we may be lacking conditions favorable to opening the metal door." He gestures broadly in the direction of the tracks. "It may be that, with a certain amount of weight upon a plate I notice at the end of the tunnel, we can acheive our goal. On the other hand, I am at a loss how to trigger the wall-sockets that the ru'un would've settled into, should that also be necessary."

"Secundus, a comment. This area is quite bare. Note, the lack of ornament, lack of carvings, lack of features; a fundamental lack of style. Why should this be? It is true that many of the most ancient sites can be said to be bare, but to such a degree? Perhaps there is a message in this, other than the surmised age of construction. Do any of you have opinions that you'd like to share on this point?" He meets several gazes, hopefully.

"And finally, please carefully inspect the floor over here." He gestures. "From a certain angle, if you know what to look for, you will see that there are a dozen places in total where the stone is a slightly different color. There is a symbol in each of these spots. They are scattered about, even up to the metal door. Perhaps our bold locksmith might be interested in these? Also I would like to learn the origin of these symbols. Anyone?" I believe that your opinion about the pressure plate is correct," she glances quickly in Ssrivan's direction as if for conformation and then back again. "Perhaps when the train arrives it sets this whole area into motion. The train itself did not use its own power to climb up to this point. The train was towed by the sphere, so the sphere must be a part of this system even if the train is not! Brilliant! I will go with you and be apart of your aspect of this quest for the moment. I am sure that our noble locksmith will not mind my absence for a moment or two. I see that Shih already has a plan of action; I can see no reason to stop this from happening. Come let us try your idea noble Jenge."

She briskly walks the length of the hallway, trying to glance for the off colored stones as she marches to the end station with Shih to help oversee the plan for activating the pressure plate.

Almodhim, Urutlen and Orun notice it first, a shadow passing in front of the wall through the larger opening. It brings them to attention and has them drawing weapons. The shadow passes by again as it seems to circle over head, and then the high pitched screech of the bird of prey pierces the air and echoes off the cliff face before massive creature rests upon Deshnah's out stretched arm. The bird is a well honed bringer of death, it talons sharp as any blade, its beak hooked and fierce, its eyes set in deep golden amber. The feathers were large and well groomed and its wingspan was enormous. The bird had to be heavy, but Deshnah's arm did not weaver in the slightest when the bird lit upon it.

There was an unspoken acknowledgement, of sorts, that Deshnah offered the animal and in some fashion a return gesture from the bird. Deshnah looked at the bird and seemed to be communicating to it in some fashion, and the bird seem to acknowledge him, or at least it seems as much. Then, as quickly as it arrived, the bird opened up its impressive wings and leapt from Deshnah's arm to catch the wind and soar outward and upward. Deshnah stands there smiling.

Only one click, but after that there are several other noises, ones you really don't recognize. A single light is shot up against the back wall of the tracks. Then, from the loading dock, the entire length of the dock area extends out about two feet from its edge and stops. After that, you here the familiar tones of the female voice saying hushed words that you still cannot understand. Short, quiet sentences, three in total, and that seems to be it. Our own location from outside looks -
Well camouflaged except for this large hole we created in the battle.
The other windows are well camouflaged and impossible to see, in fact you cannot even tell that they are there. As the bird passes up and over the cliff to the top of the mountain, some 100 feet or more above where you are now, and starts across the narrow peak you notice a small out cropping. Actually it is inset back into the out cropping but there is a terrace with a table and two chairs on it. The furniture is made of stone and the bird, at your command lilts upon the back of one of the chairs. Looking around you also see a door pressed into the mountainside. It appears to be made of stone itself and looks extremely old and weathered.

Then we wheeled and looked back down the mountain...
After several hundred yards, about 600 or so, the bird spots a group of men dressed in the priestly garb or the worshippers of the flame lord. You count four priests and at least 20 warriors. They seem to be resting on the very side of the mountain, all reclining with the priest having their heads to the ground as though they were listening to it.

Further on down the side of the mountain, perhaps a good mile or two, there are the remains of a bloody battle. Many severed bodies of the same dress as Shih lay with many more of the Flame lord's priests and warriors. There must be at least 50 bodies, some burned, some decomposed, some twisted and torn asunder, it is a gruesome sight. Circling around the bird spies two other strange corpses. Four legged creatures with four arms, like insects. They are amongst the dead facing the Sarku dead, thus giving the impression that they belong to the company of the flame lord.

There is another small party of gray robbed men creatures walking up the side of the mountain towards the battle carnage, but you bring the great hunting bird back to you. It's wild nature and free spirit does not need to be tainted by the stupidity of men.

Perhaps we can discuss what other understand from this picture?"

We have no more than a day before the priests and soldiers make their way up to this room. Thank the Worm Lord that the Pe Choi died or we'd be facing that contingent within the hour. "If we can recall, and I don't believe that it was that long ago, our little cinnamon smelling friends, along with the worshipers of Vimuhla, the lord of the flame, were those who attacked us in Monru. And while Shih may be right that we are in an area where a land dispute may very well be the reason for their activities, I would care to remain cautious. I doubt that they saw the demon visually, thought perhaps the Pe Choi sensed it, and I am quite sure that they are headed up the wrong side of the mountain to have seen our ventilation hole, but it might also be that we have been followed for some time. In fact, there is no doubt that those trying to interfere with our quest have been hoping to follow us, and perhaps this is one of those parties. We traveled under Sarku city and away from the territories that would involve us in having to deal with the masses of the Worm Lord. No offence to you Shih." He nods and then continues. "But if this hunting party was not careful and they were spotted, it seems logical that the Worshiper of Sarku would pursue them, especially in a season where sacrifices are needed."

"We seem to be rather isolated in this hallway, and this would be an easy area to defend, as most attacks would be rather unnatural and awkward in the attempt. Excluding high magic, of course. But I would still feel more comfortable were we to find a way out. As of right now it seems that this door is our escape and perhaps even more. "Orun, I too will think out loud. If I understand you correctly, that contingent down there would have had to pass below the City of Sarku, gotten blocked at the force doors, found their way out, then somehow crossed the mountains, probably by regular tubeway, to find us here. If they took a wrong turn under the City of Sarku, they'd be dead. The shear volume of activity under there makes their survival unlikely. Let's suppose they traveled the way that the rest of you came bypassing that activity, they would then have to find their way out, then travel to the nearest friendly city to beat us here. All of this, while possible, is highly unlikely."

"As an alternative, they could have communicated with the local Vimuhla contingent to have them keep a lookout for us. I'm guessing that they're psychically tracking Deshnah's orb. They may not have any idea what we're about, though they certainly want to know."

"Barring flight, they cannot assault our position. If they try to climb, the myriad ways that they'll die would be almost amusing. I'm pleased that they don't have a combat sorcerous contingent."

"That door may open on a nexus point. I am interested though in what's atop this mountain. It's worth some risk to make it there regardless."

And yet, we have other powers at our disposal, and we are after all upslope from them on a treacherous mountain peak. Finally, if we are indeed about to journey via nexus point, do we have the ability to deny them the ability to follow us? My apologies for the outburst, but I am concerned." He knots his fingers together, looking over the group and waiting to see the response to his appeal.

Subject: Attack and Defense
After listening to much air movement from the scholars, Nesh sees a moment where he might add some value to the long-winded conversation:
"Learned scholars and others... let us consider that we may defend (by pre-emptive attack) in two places. First is this place, where we know the terrain and have some defensive advantage. Second is on the other side of the door - which some assume is a nexus point - where we will likely have more surprise but less knowledge of the defensive territory. It is also possible that we will not have the opportunity to plan and group ourselves at the other end of our journey through the door" What think you? Churisan?

Noting that the others are worried about outsiders and possible combat and that he cannot contribute anything meaningful, Ssrivan returns to his studies. The light engendered by Shih's activities attracts his attention first--especially the point where the light impacts the floor.

As he wanders off, he mumbles thanks to both Shih and Jenge for their inputs, but it is obvious that he is now in some other, inner space. His scribe dutifully follows behind, ready to take down any necessary notes.

Subject: Attracting others to us
Shih,
I am pretty sure there is no link or imprinting on the Orb which is useful to those tracking us.
Certainly those which were involved with its handling in the temple are no longer adding to their Skeen!

However surely we also have other items which collect or distribute energy on the other planes?

For instance has anyone looked at that spear recently we have in the box? I sense strange emanations coming from it even while encased.

Turning to Shih " Sadly I feel any attack mounted involving demons had best be done without myself or the Orb. Our tribe do not consider their summoning lightly, and I fear the Orb shows more talent in banishing them than summoning them.

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-10-13 11:12:15]
Subject: Acquiescence
Shih opens his hands, palms outward, cocks his head to the right and bows indicating acquiescence.

"Deshnah, it is useful to know what strengths we have in our defense. As to other powerful items in our possession, yours is the only one with apparent godlike abilities and consciousness. I believe it to be at very least a tool of Creation in all of its incarnations and aspects. Also, there is the fact that the group below is comprised of Vimuhla worshipers. While there are other explanations, none are as likely as that they're after you. Leaving them to their own plans and devices could be quite dangerous to us all. We should not underestimate them. They could seriously jeopardize this quest. However, I have not the abilities of some here to address these concerns."

Shih looks from face to face to emphasize the seriousness of his statements.

Appearing relieved (for a number of reasons), the scholar-priest smiles genuinely. "Very good. Best defense being offense, then, how can we best assault those who approach? I confess that my powers are relatively short-range, but I am able to contribute something should they approach too close. I may also be able to effect an avalanche, although I am untrained in mountain destruction," a self-deprecating smile, "and am as likely to cause us to all tumble down the slope together." Jenge attempts eye-contact with Dlarumei. As titular leader he wishes to hear her opinion.

As the sun peaks over the top of the mountain above the direct sunlight fades from the hallway and a cooling shadow settles in on those in the room. The Livyani Priest pushes himself away from the wall where he has been standing for at least the last hour and finally speaks to the party as a hole.

"Those above do not have the ability to summons demons. Their skills are based on lesser temple spells of the Flame Lord. The contingents more powerful priests were killed first by those who attacked them."

He then takes a step back and not waiting for any reply he bends down to study the off color stones that have been discovered. After only a few moments he walks over to Ssrivan and the group assembled there.

"Most learned Locksmith, yours is a great knowledge and the ability to use it well. I am sure that you already know that these stones are part of the way that the door opens. I am able to sense that there are properties with them that connect the door to the landing for the tubway car. I fear that we must figure some way to spark them into action if we are to open the door. Though I have no idea how or what will happen once this occurs."

He stops and bows with respect hoping not to insult anyone with this news or the way it was presented.

Subject: thoughts on our position
Churisan responds to Neshkriuma. He has been nearly silent since he recovered. He speaks in a conversational tone. "We don't need to worry about the muscle down there. We've enough stones and good archers to take them all. It's magic we must fear, as always. You might have a couple of guards take positions at the windows, and keep careful watch. We need to know when they start moving again, and if any sorcery is done. Be interesting to see what happens when the grey robes catch up to them too. You might have some porters bring up a supply of stones - the size of their heads or a bit smaller. We've some time to prepare."

He glanced at the light Shih's effort had triggered and spoke again: "We'll be in more trouble after dark. One of those fellows gets close enough to throw a Doomkill up here and we'll be toasted. If all they want is Deshnah's sphere, they'll have no qualms about cooking us to get it. We would do well to leave by nightfall if we can. Learned Priests, we cannot go up, nor go down while our enemies are outside. That door may be our best choice."

Then he approaches Deshnah and asks quietly, "Your pardon, Oh Ye of Great Clan Status [Mode of Address # 27], but a question for you. Both Shih's compatriots and my own may be referred to as 'gray robes.' I'd just like to confirm that you saw followers of the worm lord out on the mountain, and not a band of scholar-priests..." He cocks an eyebrow and waits for a response.

As for the content and number of those which approach up the slope, I think from the glimpses I caught they were as follows...

There are four Priests, their rank I could not tell. There are also about twenty warriors, 12 of which are bowmen with long bows, five are polearmsmen with standards on their weapons and the other two seem to be swordsmen of some rank as their uniforms were a bit different and they seemed to be in command of the other soldiers.

The grey robed I saw only at a distance and could only describe them as grey robed figures - not even sure they were human I am afraid.

"Your assumptions are in line with my own obserations, learned one, and this single light may be a clue as to where we need to start. I haven't finished checking the stones yet, so we may soon know more."

Sometime later he notes Deshnah's request to open the box of the spear.

"Deshnah, I have been observing this object for quite some time. It becomes active because we are closer to powers to which it is linked. If you really want a beacon to attract our unwelcome guests, then open the case. As it is, the case reflects most of the energies released by the spear within itself to allow the spear to avoid detection--a protection it might not be good to disturb with enemies in such close proximity."

He signals his scribe to bring the case to him to verify that it is still fully sealed, as even a partial opening would allow some of the energies contained within to leak out, and Deshnah's observation indicates that some leakage is occurring. If all is well, he will stow the case once more and return to his searches--unless someone presents him with a better idea.

Subject: Let's see here.
Dlarumei steps forward and says.

"I rather doubt that the Gray robbed priests are from the noble house that Jenge represents. They would be far out of their element here and isolated in these parts, unless they had become lost on their way to Yan Kor, which I doubt. With that, I would make the assumption that they are indeed Priests of Sarku who are tracking our Flame lord contingent who have probably insulted them in some fashion by crossing territory believed to be held by the worm worshipers. This, of course, does not eliminate the possibility that the Vimuhla worshiping party is looking for us or following some beacon or had received a tip or message or command to investigate. There are many possibilities, and unless I am mistaken, Orun and several other military minded individuals seem to think that we are defensively secure in this station. I would go along with their judgment on this issue, as that is why they are along on this journey, among other things. I would think that our focus would now turn to opening that door as to further our progress in moving ahead. Or at least it is a better option that any of the others I can think of at this moment."

She makes a motion to Ssrivan as if to say, " your thoughts? Instruct us."

Subject: Scotty, we need more Power!
"My resesrches indicate that we'll probably need the sphere from the Tubeway Car to power the station systems if we want to get out of here. I also wouldn't recommend being in the path of something coming out of those holes in the wall when the station does get power. They may only be to trigger the lights in these wonderful stones on the floor--or they may be additional wards. In any case, we are in need of power, so it falls upon us to find a way to get the sphere up here and place it into its socket. Shih, your charges below should be most well suited to the task of transport, once we have succeeded in removing it from the car, and as that action will probably take us until well after dusk, they should have no problem doing so."

Ssrivan now awaits thoughts from the others.

From: Shih Nacunya [2003-10-15 21:26:25]
Subject: Big freak'n ball bearing with attitude
Listening to Ssrivan, Shih nods his head with a small smile on his lips, possibly indicating that he doesn't want to upset the crazy man.

"You want us to RETRIEVE a sphere that shoots lightning and probably weighs as much as a ten chlen. And this sphere is under quite a bit of rock."

Shih walks back and forth across the platform thinking. He then goes over to the hole estimating where the end of the two tubeway cars starts. From there, he steps forward 45 paces or so making his best guess about which area of stone is over the sphere. He then calls over the slaves and directs them to get ready to dig, though he doesn't tell them to actually begin.

"This way, we minimize the risk of additional cave-ins and the amount of digging that's necessary. Ssrivan, are you sure that we need the entire sphere?"

Turning to Jenge, he continues:

"Jenge my friend, we can shorten this digging exercise enormously and produce a hole at a much more gradual angle if you can cast that moving nexus point so that it passes above the sphere and to the side of it."

From: Ssrivan Tlokhar [2003-10-16 03:38:50]
Subject: Of course we must have it!
"Unfortunately, the sphere is a self-contained source of power of the type this station needs to operate. We need to use the station, so we need to have it powered, Shih. Without it, we won't be able to make things work properly, as it functions as a sort of specialized key. I really would not recommend trying another method to start the station up. Your rocks on the plate proved that the station requires input from the Sphere to operate, which is as it should be to ensure the stations energies would not be detectable except during the short periods of time it was actually in use. This also explains the very strange mode of propulsion for the latter part of our journey in the spiral tunnel."

Without a clear line of sight, I fear that a near miss could be disastrous. Slicing into the sphere or another installation may very well send us all to Great Lord Vimuhla in fierce molten splendor. Is there not someone here who commands the power to lift the sphere, and traverse the tunnel with it? Could we not persuade the ru'un to bring it up? They remain with the tubeway cars, do they not?" Again, he bows, very politely.

Subject: Innapropriate use of Sorcerous Energies
"Shih, much as it would look nice and quickly open a hole to the ways below, using sorcerous power that way would have too many deleterious side effects--first, those mentioned by Jenge, and second, such expenditures are sure to attract unwanted attention from our pursuit. If they don't know where we are yet--they will after such a blatant display of power. It is actually likely that the beacon created on this mountaintop by the battle with the ring demons is what attracted them here in the first place. They may have no clue what it is they are chasing, just that it let loose a lot of power in a place they thought to be empty."

"As to the amount of time it will take to get the sphere up here, the slave can burrow down to set the sphere free in a relatively short time. Getting it up here will be the real chore. And I'm pretty sure the Ru'un won't be able to convinced to assist us."

To all of those who follow this game.
The GM and several of the players will be experiencing some difficulties posting over the next few days, passably a week, as the fires that are located in Southern California are affecting us greatly. As for me, my house is not in danger, but Urutlen and his family are now evacuated from the mountains and staying with my family and me. Almodhim has also been evacuated from her house at the base of mountains and the fire may even have consumed her place already. Many of the homes in that area have been burned as the fire is being blown by heavy Santa Ana winds. The 98-degree daytime temperature and 11% humidity help to create an almost intolerable condition for fire fighters. My wife's parents and grandmother are also on their way to stay with us from being evacuated from their home in mountains as well.

Your thoughts during this time will be greatly appreciated.

We will resume posting as soon as this tragic event passes and life returns to whatever state of normal it was previous.

The daylight is fleeing behind the mountaintop and casting a large shadow on your side of the mountain. The shade brings relief from the heat and the slaves and porter begin moving about more actively taking care of their duties.

Deeper into the tunnel, where the temperature has remained cool all day, Churisan has had a crew of five slaves digging a hole at the end of track, just before the caved in section. There the rocks and debris are easily removed and soon a rather substantial opening appears. Churisan gives up a slight smile of satisfaction as he peers through the five-foot opening and views the intact sphere. It seems dormant but as Jenge, Ssrivan and Shih have pointed out several times, the Ru'un warrants caution, hence the reason why Churisan is approaching it from the rear, where it has no abilities to send out its lightning.

Jenge and Shih have been in consultation with each other over the best way to approach the Ru'un's return to its resting place, while Ssrivan has been moving about adding suggestions and insights all the while. Ssrivan's main focus has been on the iron door and the newly discovered translucent floor tiles, of which there are twelve (a number of some significance at this end station) He is assembling the information needed to, hopefully, get the door to open and the party moving forward.

Urutlen has been keeping a keen eye on the surrounding. He moves from site to site through the hallway and end station ever watching for any sign of unordinary circumstances. His searching has intensified with the news the there is a contingent of possible hostiles on the mountain close to this position.

Almodhim, feeling much less enclosed now that there is a large opening in the wall, has finally had time to rest well and regain some of her composure and strength. A much calmer person, she takes time to sharpen her weapons as well as instruct some of the guards on her unique style of fighting. Those guards who have been interested sit with her and listen to her stories and take time to practice and adopt some of her techniques.  She, of course, has been of help in any aspect requested of her and continues to offer her assistance for any task she can perform.

Deshnah has spent much of his time helping wherever and whenever he can. From mixing soothing teas, to investigative recon missions. He has been solid and always with a smile, never wavering from what he feels is appropriate.

Orun, finding that his particular talents are not needed at the moment, has taken it upon himself to exercise the troops. He has been working on improving their abilities to work as a unit and to follow non-verbal directions that the military personnel of the party have agreed upon for future conflicts.

Dlarumei has been working with Shih, Jenge, Ssrivan and Churisan, depending on where she can fit into the equation. Her primary time expenditure has been with Ssrivan, however, as the two of them discuss various problems and situation that are posed by this area.

The Livyani Priest has been lending a hand where he can fit in and spends at least three hours a day in deep meditation. It is obvious that during these meditation times Orun keeps watch over him.

Hrissu has keep things going, busying himself with the administration of keeping the camp running, though be it in his own particular fashion. His songs keep spirits lifted as best as possible and morn those who have departed from the company. But you can also tell that he keeps a watchful eye, perhaps something a bit out of character for what he has presented himself as in the past. Though nothing to be alarmed about, perhaps just different thoughts have crept in.

The time of day is around 3:30 in the afternoon and that leaves about four hours of daylight left to you.

Let us start off by having each character confirm the description or state something to the contrary so we all know exactly what each of us is doing.
It's good to be back! :-)

The collapse fell mainly on the cart behind it. What shall we do with it? We might be able to hoist it up, but perhaps we could tell it to come up on its own? If we freed it from its connection it could follow the tunnel around until it was on the other side of the gap. Then perhaps it could fly? or you could magic it across the hole in the floor?
