Re: Cutting Up

Mentat... What level?  Then, when I decide to make a rogue, or call on past experiences on ones I've made...or ninjas, then it goes like this..

If you manage to see me, congratulations, you just saw the guy that has a +37 (at level 10 with a 32 AC, and +77 if I go invisible...or ethereal if you'd like) to hide.  When I make a rogue that's meant to hide, he will hide well.  If I want to make someone that can bluff like a fiend...it shall be done.

Now however, I'm over in Tides of the Underdark working on a character concept...  not sure where to go with it though.. and am stuck between two options... either way, it's sure to be interesting.

Re: Cutting Up

Yeah, but I'm level 5, and don't have magic items that enhance Bluff. That's just wrong.

In any case, invisible ninjas are always funny. "I sneak attack your face and then make a hide check. Gee, what do you know, I pass ny check, because I'm wicked awesome sneaky jerk." Invisible berserkers are even funnier. The effect of a high-level raging barbarian with Improved Invisibility cast on him tearing through the front line of an army are better seen than described. :P

Re: Cutting Up

Actually its sudden strike.  But I'm busy waiting for my DM to give me an answer on a couple of questions.  The Mineral Warrior Template rocks.  5th level though.. bluff is charisma based.. I can see having like +4 bonus to charisma..more depending on your race.. what is your race?  Then 8 skill ranks.. giving ya 12 total..  Magic items not boosting your bluff in particular, but charisma can give ya the extra boost.  (For like 2500gold you can get a ring of +5 a skill Bluff, Jumping, tumble, whatever really)

Then there is skills synergies if any, and whatever bonus class abilities might give you, feats like skill focus or persuasive, which is another +5 right there...

minus magic items though, thats a total of 17 assuming you had an 18 starting charisma and you were a human.

But if you weren't a human, and you had a +2 bonus to your charisma as a racial, thats up to 18, and then a magic item boosting charisma, not necessarily bluff, could put you at 20.

Its certainly doable.  You'd have to focus and rely on bluff, but once you fail to bluff someone, your put in a difficult spot.

So.. it can go either way.

Re: Cutting Up

Half-Elf. I'm dependent upon a combination of racial bonuses, feats, Cha 16, and synergy skills. Sorry, Bluff was +13. Diplomacy was +19, my bad. He doesn't fight. All noncombative skills, which are sorely underrated in the havoc they can cause, even in hackfests.

PT.. I was not expecting to be deaf.  However that was pretty sweet.

"The town vomits fire up to the storm clouds that are hanging over the town"

Mentat.. think it beats nanfoodle?  I just destroyed a city.  That explosion might beat nanfoodle.. I'd have to check to see how large that blast was.. but damn..  thats large and loud..

"The flames are now only four hundred feet high."

Ya know what.. to cause an explosion like that and leave behind 400 ft tall flames..  I find it hard to believe ANYTHING can beat that.. kick ass.

Re: Cutting Up

No pain, no sorrow, and you're able to do with full attention as many different things at  the same 'time' as you like....you can fully participate in sitting down with your friends for a nice restauraunt, and at the same time enjoy the solitude of climbing a skybreaking mountain on an unspoiled world.

The reason you can't come back is you won't fit in a material universe anymore.

Its not quite the Heaven you expected with harps and clouds. There are harps, but very little clouds. But there is also a lot of hard work of varying kinds, and a Great Plan of which you are partner in. Its what the universes were supposed to be before the Anarch powers rebelled. Some time is spent enjoying pure Beauty, and playing a harp in reverence, but 'more' time is spent on reading the lost plays of Shakespeare, and the spellbooks of Merlin, and chopping trees with Daniel Boone, and practising swordwork with D'Artagnan and Michael Archangel.

Its work, but with no sorrow or taint attached to it. Its the kind of work that men did on cathedrals knowing their grandsons would finish the work...except you'll be the one to finish it.  Its the type of work where you bounce out of bed eager to begin each and every day, and are never sore muscled, or threatened with being 'downsized'.

And there is play too...which includes things like racing motorcycles past Earth, and looping around Saturn with the Redeemer.

Perhaps a good game could be made of this, but Multiverser is not that game.  After all, you can still fail, you just can't do evil. Its an interesting notion to make a game for Deep Eternity.

One problem I'd have is that I'd run out of superlatives....

Ahh... But with Pain, you can draw strength from it, and it can make you wiser...stronger.  Pain has its advantages, both physical and emotional.

Wow, Deep Eternity sure does sound cool.

PT, if my current character ever 'retires', would you mind hearing out a notion of re-integrating my character into the multiverse?

If so, would you like it here or through a PM?

Re: Cutting Up

Wow. For once, Avahur and I agree on something. I didn't think this day would ever come in my lifetime...it's the end of the known universe, and no more stupid fun for me. Deep Eternity it is.

But first...

*holds up the Star Trek Enterprise*

Alright, all of you in purely command positions give me the ship and get in the prison cells, because I know from the movie those work. Heck, those were the only things not malfunctioning on the ship. If you don't, I'll poke the trilithium crystals with a stick. And NOBODY wants that now, do they? Now take me to the center of the universe. I've got a God-wannabe there I'd like to smack around a couple times for being a self-absorbed jerk who wants to give idiots the impression he IS God.

Re: Cutting Up

For the record Krillis... Just because you may be immortal, it doesn't mean you can't feel pain.  When you can't harm someone physically, you target those that are close to them so that you can hurt them mentally, and emotionally and such.

Also.. if you can lie well enough and do some small trick, people will believe anything, especially if you dress....differently.

Re: Cutting Up

I agree with Avahur. Most people tend to believe anything as long as you can impress them enough. A good rule of thumb is: the more outrageous the lie, the more likely people are to believe in it.

A good example is the current situation in my storyline.

quote:
Hadrian walked up to a familiar looking woman.
"Hello there Elizabeth," he said.
"How do you know my name?" Elizabeth answered hesitantly.
"I am a priest of an obscure God that is only vaguely mentioned in your holy book, allowing me to make up whatever I want about that God."
"Oh my, I completely believe you. You better come meet my father."

And the story goes on...

The only problem I have is that I have absolutely no "powers" to back up my claims, so I have to rely even more on lies.

Also, before I forget: greetings to Shane. You are in for one hell of an experience with this game!

Re: Cutting Up

In one of MJ's games, I sold a terrorist on the notion that I and my partner were secretly alien observers, and that our bodies were just temporary shells we constructed out of protomatter.

It helped that I had just botched, and dumped his mind into my partner's (another verser player character named Kelly) brain, and vice versa, and that I was going to experiment with torture on Kelly's body.

She was very noble. Most PC's would not allow you to cut off fingers on their body even if they were not currently resident.

Fortunately, terrorist guy folded.

MJ had said that coercion wasn't going to work, but he changed his mind after he said that I was scaring him, the GM.

And yes, in case you're wondering, I keep that side of my soul very well locked up for a number of good reasons. I try to keep on the sunny side of life.

Re: Cutting Up

PT, I was moreso thinking of the character, to return to normal multiverse, would have to lose a lot of his personality, skills, memory, et cetera.

I imagined that also his mental fortitude and prowess might increase, from being in a constantly limitless state for so long.

An ability I was thinking of would be a sort of focus.  While focusing, two options could play out.  1. Everything seems to happen slower, giving the user plenty of time to react.  It would be noticing a five-second moment as if it were two minutes.  2. If the roll fails, perhaps the character could go insane, have his head explode, or something even more creative.

What do you think?  I'll understand if you don't like the idea.

Re: Cutting Up

PT.. you haven't seen Avahur torture someone..  now.. HE gets creative.  When he wants info, he'll get it..or kill his victim.. either or..usually both.

PT.. I want to see that side of you more often in my thread...seriously.

As most of you know, and to the new guys that don't know, Avahur is very....skilled.  He can do many things, and enjoys killing.  He loves fighting in wars and such.  So you DON'T want to get on his bad side.

Oh.. and as for before.. in my current world, I told the people that I was a messenger from the gods, and came to solve some issues for them.

Now..  with just that alone.. they might have believed me.. as I am currently wearing armor from different time periods and I have Sky Blue hair with a red and a purple eye.  So that is believable...but always try to have a trick up your sleeve for when they don't believe you..  and a back up for that, and another back up for that.  This way.. you get to show off, and get people to believe pretty much anything you say.
