Re: Many Paths

You have already started by posting in your Last Verse thread.

It may be a bit longer before I can resume GMing, but there is light at the end of the tunnel...  :)

Re: Many Paths

That was me jumping the gun a bit. I didn't know if the world was even still a thing. For all I know, it has been reduced to a smoking ruin by Magnus and Avahur. They tend to that when I'm not trying to.

Re: Many Paths

Hey! I Haven't reduced a entire world to smoking ruins yet...Admittedly my mishaps tend to be explosive... Well it's not like I'm trying to Explode.

So anyway.I haven't exploded in that world yet. Mainly because I can't do anything

Again, it's good to be back. I've done my share of exploding too: crash landings that I walked away from in the next world, experimenting with a Warmth Enchantment that expanded rapidly, things like that.

Well. At least I'm not trying to do something really insane.

Like trying to graft bits of Primordial Metabiology onto my soul...

Hmmm... A part of me wants to go "SCIENCE!" and try it and another part of me think it is probably a Bad Idea.

Re: Many Paths

Hoping to run a Pathfinder campaign in the real world.

Have a few ideas....

DragonHunt world.  The overlords of the world are ancient dragons which maintain six hundred mile across hunting grounds to exclude other predatory megafauna.  They usually take a lacksadaisical attitude toward the Lesser Races.

Terraycuyl the Red's Hunt is fairly well detailed, but I'm thinking of making a neigbhour of hers.  Istalalanni the Cruel is the overlord.

The site is an ancient city or multiple cities in ruins with a volcano smoking nearby.  The nearest major city is Auriador, the richest city in the world, and one that acts like the Panama Canal.  Its two hundred miles distant.

The border between Terracuyl's and Istalalanni's Hunts is marked by Fuse Canyone or glass canyon.  The flames of the two beasts melted the rocks of the canyon into glass.

The City has an archeological dig city on top of it.  Traders come from far places to get magic items from the hundreds of ruins underground.

Fire priests preaching a doctrine of radicaql autonomy where a man can become a woman can become a fire elemental is hwats tought.

There has been a couple collapses since the Great Collapse.

The Dig City is more of separate hoods or almost nations than a true city.

Re: Many Paths

I am enjoying reading your threads.  Has Oak been around?  The last time he posted in my thread was March 22.  I realize that he has a busy life.  Still...  Mar 22?

Re: Many Paths

Still around, but Real Life deadlines have been seriously melting down on multiple fronts.

At this point, July looks more likely than June, but no promises...  :(

I haven't even had time to post as a player in Eric's thread...  :o

Re: Many Paths

I'm at a crossroads here.  I know Oak is busy with life.  I get that.  Still, I want to play.  I read all of the threads.  Oak won't be back until maybe July.  Watching everyone else play from the sidelines isn't what I want to do.

I'm throwing this out to everyone.  Should I sit here twiddling my toes until Oak deals himself back into the game?  Should I just go away and stop bothering you?  Is there a chance I can play with another GM?

I would be willing to run a new character for you. Admittedly I'll have a different style from Eric.

Anyway give me a pm if you interested.

Re: Many Paths

My schedule has been even crunchier than usual during my current hiatus here, which is really saying something...  :o

I have been amazed by the continued interest in The Last Verse even after all the delays.  Eric attracted a bunch of devoted Worldwalker players over the years, and the characters created during that time have kept the players hooked even during my long pauses.

But I am well aware that it can be frustrating to wait... and wait... and wait.

If there are folks keen to play, and you can find willing GMs, don't hesitate to go for it.  Just because Real Life Taking Precedence may be keeping me on GMing pause for some period of time, that doesn't mean you have to be kept waiting on hold for me indefinitely.

I will leave it to the players and any willing GMs they can find to determine if they want to take up their long running characters, or to make new ones.  Either way, we will figure out some way to let folks that are still interested in The Last Verse resume there (in parallel) if and when I can resume GMing.

Thanks to The Last Verse folks for your interest and for your patience.  :)

Re: Many Paths

Misty, I'd be willing to run you. I've never run a female player before. That would be a new experience. You say you're reading the threads, you'll just run into Olivia instead of Magehammer. (She's a different supercharacter of mine) Send me a PM if interested.

On a different note, where did you get the name Mentat? I've heard that name before, and I can't remember where. It's been driving me nuts for months!!!!!!!

On a different note, can we get a Behind the Screens thread here? I'd prefer it if I had a thread where my players could check my math and whatnot.

Re: Many Paths

Well, Mentat, we could do Temple of the Dying Sun....

More seriously, I hope that Magnus and you can get something interesting going.  I look forward to seeing Misty and John's game.

=============

I started the Pathfinder game.  Enter the hole in the ground waterfall with a pool below it with pirahna (don't bother me with biology...this game is not too serious...had a statue of the Bard Presley in the city park.)  They got past that by fishing for pirahna.

And one of the little fellows is playing a superhero game as a shapeshifting alien visiting Atlanta.

Re: Many Paths

The name Mentat comes from Dune. They were human supercomputers, capable of complex mathematics and conclusion reaching. To be fair, I only went with the name originally because it sounded cool to me; I learned the details after the fact. It is also a drug in the Fallout setting, which increases your Intelligence and Perception scores.

And I'm glad to be starting up again.

Re: Many Paths

Captain Light, the shapeshifting alien superhero has helped a novice pilot land her
Cessna, intervened in an armored car robbery by the Brothers Steal (or Steel since they have steel armor and are thieves), but was ko'ed by Dark Arrow.  He woke up in his first deathtrap and the villain, the infamous Russian immigre' genetically altered by KGB, the Tzar Zoo, who can mind control animals, told the good Captain of the Tzar's diabolical plans which included mind controlling kittens to break into the password protected bank accounts of an owner. Our hero escaped.

As a caterpillar, our hero rode Judge Smith's tux into the party at the museum where the second of the Three Emeralds of Animal Mind Control was on display at a big party. A fight broke out, and mostly useing clever tactics, instead of brute force, our hero won.  It turns out that mind controlled great apes do not appreciate being stung on the nose.

Our hero also gave an interview to Channel Five.  So now, Atlanta knows there is another hero in the night.

And the Tzar Zoo, and the Brothers Steal rot in super jail, but the Sniper, Dr. Dissector, and Dark Arrow are still out there disturbing the peace of the good people of the Peach of the South.
