Practise by driving a branch into the ground. I'll rope it, and then run to the nearest tree, and tie it off while Angus ropes it from the other side and ties it off. Meanwhile, I'll be moving, and getting my second rope ready, and hoping I won't need the weapons I carry when it comes time to do this for real.
You're going to be driving most of the time. But you'll have a half hour here or there whilst refueling the vehicles to practice that.

What is the local area like? Wasteland? Temperate? Trees?
Very good question!!! Trees would make the zombies much harder to spot.
And with a GE of 22, there's lots of forest you're driving through. Sometimes meadows, but mostly untamed forest. You can tell Angus is just itching to get in there and becomes its master.

I'll have one of the others serve as lookout while we practise. No need to get ambushed by a creaker while we practise. That would be embarrassing.
Actually you'll have a chance to practice on one in a minute.
At night, you stop at one of the fortified refueling centers. Time to stop driving. You're in the zombie zone. You left the zombie free zone an hour ago.
The refueling center is an abandoned military base. But one feature about it is quite interesting. They've got solar panels and huge spotlights aimed at a nearby meadow. At night, they can sit up in a multistory tower, turn on the lights to attract zombies, and have target practice.
So you and Angus and Uncle Bob go into the tower. You're on the third floor. They turn on the floodlights. Within minutes, a meadow about the size of two football fields side by side is roaming with zombies. Dozens, perhaps 100 zombies. Then they dim the lights to where the zombies can barely be seen.
Several of the paramilitary guys get out their rifles for target practice. If you want to go down into the field, there's an area where they promise not to shoot in your direction. Angus volunteers to accompany you. He's got a 20 pound sledgehammer and a double bladed wood chopping axe. And an evil grin on his face.
