I turn and look at her, raising an eyebrow. I shrug, whatever, and continue walking.
She's just going to follow you. Break into a dead run if you wish. She can keep up.

If/when I reach the tower I return to my room, take off my weapons and armor and settle in for the first (hopefully) restful sleep in multiple years.
Takes you an hour maybe to walk to The Tower. Carly Rae is right behind you all the way. When you get there you get the feeling Carly Rae really want to tell you something important. But she can't. Unless you pursue it, she will just leave you.
Shower and sleep, awesome. You feel like a new man.
quote:
The next day I re-equip myself in arms and armor and see if I can find a detailed map on the video thing that has information on the area and if there are stalls or businesses arranged by sectors or if it's willy nilly. If none or not enough information is available, I head to the information desk.
It's arranged like city blocks. The silver bubbles linking to the other worlds are in perfect squares and naturally occurring. Just another mystery of Verser World.
Fun fact, there are versers who live in some of the destroyed worlds. Especially if they're the ones who destroyed it. It's an unwritten law that they own that world. If they can prove they were there, that is. So far, no one's ever versed out with one. Some of the universes aren't that uninhabitable, such as the one you versed into.
The areas where they are expected to pop up are cleared. The distance can usually be estimated to a few inches. One minute they're not there and the next minute they are. Sometimes a verser simultaneously arrives. Usually laying right outside the bubble. If you are standing on the spot when one erupts you, will "fall" into that universe. Leaving is of course possible, but some universes are radioactive, or you fall into an asteroid field in deep space that used to be a planet. And while these universes can often but not always be made habitable, falling into deadly universes is one of the leading causes of verse outs.
The bubbles cannot be avoided. This is not the only settlement. It's just the largest known settlement. One billion of three billion known versers. But the land mass is thought to be unlimited. There could be billions more here. The bubbles follow the largest settlements. You get rogue bubbles out in what is considered The Boonies. Strangely enough the bases for The Tower(s) were all laid out before the first recorded verser arrived. There are at least 25,000 known Tower bases, spreading out over millions of square miles. Some in use, some not.
This tower, the one you're in is still under construction, and its height is unknown. It is, however, the single largest known tower. It is taller and larger than any building any verser has ever seen, anywhere.
What else do you want to know?
quote:
Not intentionally, but I'd rather not fight something at the moment and reach the tower. Too much to do.
OOC) You weren't going to. Just saying. (Should I say things like that or not?)
BTW, what does he/you think of Carly Rae?
