Re: OOC Thread

I posted a lot this weekkend despite my plans to just do M-F posting partially because I and the whole Playtester family came down with the cold.  And so it gave me something to do when not tending to little PT-ers or napping.

I'm mostly better after doing my best to do nothing all weekend, and one kid is definitely on the mend and hard to pin down, and the other we are not sure yet even though his fever has stayed down for quite some time.  The ladyfaire is going to try to get out of work early after staggering in.

Thankfully it seems to have been mostly a light attack instead of the full tank battallion of misery that it can be.

Damn. You really should have that glitch checked. By the by, I'm Peter, currently nicked by the gm as Hesu.

Just so you're aware Mr PT, currently my wife and I are expecting our first child and it is 2 days overdue as we speak.  SO, if I suddenly dissappear for a few days you know why.  Don't panic!  I'll be back as I am thoroughly enjoying this game.

Re: OOC Thread

That's fine, Malachai.

I'm off for the weekend as soon as I make a quick post.  Get to watch "Constantine" with the Ladyfaire, and playtest at an actual table, and let the grandparents take care of the kids a bit.  It will be nice.

See you all Monday morning, I hope.

Re: OOC Thread

Hesu, This system is called Multiverser, you basically state what actions you take and if you are in person, the GM has you roll your dice, added to various bonuses and negatives and finds out if you suceede, and how well you suceede, you can also botch, which is sometimes bad, sometimes makes the story more interesting. Let's say you are asked, how well are you with a gun, you say well I know how to shoot, but by no means a professional....you would probably be given a 1@5 Ability with a gun. There are also things called bias levels. There are 4 areas, Tech, Body, Mag, Psi. Tech is for technology....if you were shooting a gun, you would be using Tech, unless it was part of a martial arts form or an extension of your body...then it would fall under Body. Mag is Magic, anything from religon, to arcane magic, to divine magic is covered here. Psi are psionics, very powerful and very dangerous. Body is for body skills, like fighting, martial arts, and things like cellular regeneration, or manipulating of your body stucture. For example, I'm pretty sure our tech level is an 11@ or 12@. Before I continue, Tech levels go from 1@-15@. The world your in also has base bias levels. To make it simple, if you were in a magic based world, your Mag Bias would be high, your Tech most likely low. If you were in the world I just described, you might find it difficult to fire the gun accurately, or find that it won't fire at all (almost like trying to light a fire with no oxyogen to fuel it). So...it's a complicated system at first, but it allows the Referee to have you play in a Sci-Fi world one day, and a Low Tech Mag the next, and not have to change a thing with your stats. I started playing in October, and am just now getting a feel for how it all works. Playtester might get angry going into as little detail as I did, but I wanted to answer your question that it is freeform, but you are using a system of mechanics. Even if you were in person, it's still freeform, using the same system of mechanics. If you have any questions let me know and I will try to help, if Playtester lets me :)

And across the Multiverse, renowned seers smiled, magi looked up from their calculations with a happy joy, and mighty kings proclaimed a day of rejoicing.

Congratulations to the Doulos Family.

Re: OOC Thread

As planned I will be back on Monday morning as this is supposed to be a M-F game (but I'm bad about wanting to goof off and play on the weekends too), so see ya'll Monday.

Rough draft of the novel is 2/3rds done, and for excitement this weekend, we go to Super Wal-mart, and I get to fix the toilet and the fan pull chain.  Never-ending thrills, but I like it anyways here at stately Playtester Manor.

Re: OOC Thread

I get to sit in front of my laptop, frustrated at it's lack of internet connection because they don't trust matelots with technology. (Matelot: French for 'Sailor', slang term used in the Royal Navy.) Apart from the odd Sea King helicopter, of course. So every time I want to post on RPOL I have to trudge five minutes down the road to the bar and the internet cafe.

Curses!

I swear, I'm going to buy a remote internet card for my laptop... if they didnt cost 200 quid.

Well that is unfortunate for you, and I would think for them as the more capable a "matelot" is the better for overall military effectiveness.

Oh well. Keep up the good work.

Away Notice

My job currently is 60+ hours/week and is not allowing me anywhere near the amount of free time needed to keep up with all of extra-curricular activities.  Thus a few things are being put on hold until after the next few months of crazy summer activity passes.  I will be putting my involvement in this game (as well as most RPoL games) on hold until likely August.  There may be a slim chance or two I can put up the odd post but for the most part don't expect too much from me until after the summer.  Have fun!

Re: Away Notice

Okay, well, I'm glad for the note so I know what to expect.  I'd say, 'have fun this summer', but I'm not sure you will.  Try to make some time to catch a few rays, say?

The game will be waiting here when you get back.
