Road Toward The Mine (Adventure Thread)

The Morning is crisp and bright as you awake from the nights stay at "The Falling Feather". As you wipe your eyes and look around you see that "The Falling Feather" is more like "Falling Apart". The beds and chairs squeak, the floors are very dirty and not well kept, the widow coverings if they are even there are torn and stained. Coming in in the middle of the night with a slight bit of liquor must have caused you to over look the dismay of the building.

As you leave "The Feather" the only sole you come in contact with is "Elbert" the desk hand. He nods as you pass by, but he says nothing, he ducks into the backroom, before you can speak to him.

Heading out of the north gate you can see the beautiful countryside. With the city perched on a hill top it is easy to see across the huge valley to the foot of the Rauvin Mts. The valley floor is far from flat, having been twisted and broken by years of faulting and rifting. Rolling hills as far as the eye can see with large outcroppings of rock and stone jutting up out of the ground reaching for the sky. The earth through the vale is over all a light brown with accents ranging from white to dark gray almost black. The sun is bright and the cloud cover clears as you look north, the road ahead beckons.

Re: Cryoden Mines (Adventure Thread)

"Too Danged early for this, need more sleep." Vespian slept poorly while in the fine Inn and 0bviously is suffering for it. While looking for some simply food to forage upon along the way, she walks right past several edible items, failing to recognize them at all. Even worse, her attempts to listen to the sounds of the wild or seek out hidden animals or foes is also poorly executed.

A natural 1 for Spot and Search,, She must still be asleep, and only appears to be walking along with the others.

Erdthar took off in a long smooth stride that easily carried him twice as fast as the party averaged.  No stranger to the wilds, he circled the group in slow arcs along the flanks, never straying out of the fringes of sight.

Re: Cryoden Mines (Adventure Thread)

A few hours after traveling the road and hacking down the local foliage, you leave the main trail and head north; you will be crossing the Redrun River soon. Then you will be near the old outlook, shelter for the evening if you wish. The terrain is passable with large outcroppings of rock. The rocks slope up at almost 45degrees; their northern and eastern faces have eroded away, forming large cliffs, ranging from 5’high at the south to 40’ high on their north face. The southern and eastern faces can be readily climbed due to the angle of the tilt.

As the company rounds a rock face the valley floor widens for a bit with the surrounding rocks casting tall shadows in the afternoon sun. Three Creatures can be seen lying near one of the cliff faces. They seem armed, yet they are unaware of you.

Note on map: The brown represents the rock outcropping.
Black represents the cliff face.
Climb Slope DC: 5 for full movement otherwise half movement
Climb Cliff DC: 15
1 square=5feet

Quindil Liahstia rolled 6 using 1d20+2 [4]. Move Silently.

Unfortunately for him, the hill has signifigant amounts of gravel and scree on it, nullifying any chance of keeping quiet.
OOC:I know there's no real cover to hide behind, I'm just rolling to see how well my guy keeps his head down :)

Quindil Liahstia rolled 12 using 1d20+3 [9]. Initiative.
The gravel also seems to have slowed his reaction time a touch, but he makes it to the slope without much incident.

Re: Round 1

The adventuring party jumps into action as they see the three creatures. The party moves in cordination with Erdthar taking the middle as Gimuld flanks left and Quindil flanks right. The others remain in their spots as the action plays out.

Two of the Gnolls(1&3) Stand from prone and ready their axes. Gnoll 2 is on his feet he also readies his axe and approaches Erdthar. (moved to M-22)

Will update map tonight.
Also I gave everyone their full move this round, however it seems that some moved a bit far, but no worries, from now on just check your movement rate.

Does anyone have weapons drawn?

Initiative: 21

Free Action:
Standard Action: Attack!
Action Results: clobbered him!  either 12, or 31(if crit confirmed) hp of damage
Ending Location: N22

Die Rolls:

15:42, Today: Erdthar Grimear rolled 19 using 2d8+8. additional damage if crit.

OOC:
I don't think I over moved last round, remember I'm a barbaric grey orc
20 squares is what I do on a full move.
Also, Erd carries his axe in hand - so I don't think a 'draw/ready weapon' move-equiv action is required?

Round 2 Ends

As the battle begins Erdthar steps up to the oncoming Gnoll. Erdthar swings his mighty axe as the blade comes down hard onto the enemy it crushes his shoulder sending him rearing to the ground with a “thud”. Gimuld readies and loads his bow. Vespian takes out her short bow notches an arrow and lets one fly, her arrow goes high into the sky in a wide arc and then comes thundering down on one of the enemies, unfortunately the Gnoll was able to send it wide with his shield. The mage Pello advances into the ranks as he finds a good spot next to the large rock outcropping. Quindil also launches an arrow from a great distance, his mark looks true, but the arrow fails to penetrate the armor. Milo and Ruff hold their positions next to Vespian.

The Gnoll’s seeing that one of their ranks has already fallen, Began to hoot and holler as they egg Erdthar on. The two Gnolls circle each other for a second as they move closer to Erdthar. One of the vile creatures growls exposing his yellowish fangs. They do not attack it seems as though they wait for Erdthar.

Sorry but only time I have to update maps is in morning. So Gimuld and Milo: did not get an action that round, you can take an extra action this round.
