Trails to Felbarr (Adventure Thread)

High Noon 5th of Fading

After tending to the wagon the dwarves prepare to open the doors. A couple dwarves that had scurried down one of the halls earlier have just recently come back with armfuls of supplies: mostly weapons for the dwarves. A smooth grinding sound is heard as the dwarves work the door mechanics. And then…

The massive stone doors open wide to the out side allowing rain and wind to storm into the building. The old dwarf looks back and hollers as the rain splashes his face. ”Ohh yeah this I’ll be noth’n. I thought it to be worse. Get snow this time a year on occasion.” He trails off in a chuckle. Seven of the dwarves come along. Three of them get themselves up onto the wagon and ready for a bumpy ride. The other five trudge along side the wagon wielding shovels and axes.

The storm outside is brewing pretty good. Winds whap past your ears as large rain drops pelt your face, over and over and over. It’s down right cold! The sun is nowhere to be seen amongst the clouds and the terrain beyond looks extremely treacherous. The land before you opens up into a low boulder infested valley. Steep rock ledges dotted with pines surround most of the area. A nearly invisible rock strewn trail leads away from the building, winding its way westward through the valley.

Looking back to the building that you came from, as the doors start to shut, you see that it is not a building at all, but a rock face, a huge rock face, with a very well camouflaged door placed into it. It is rather impressive.

Re: Trails to Felbarr (Adventure Thread)

OoC: Any last request before we head off to Felbarr?

Wagon: Simple four wheeled wagon pulled by two mules with a driver seat that sits two upfront. This wagon is empty other than the dwarves. Two mules pull while two mules rest, tied to the back of the wagon.

Where are you at?

Pello quickly regrets his peppy remark about the cold, but tries to do his best to get a place on the wagon and burrow himself deep, deep into his winter blanket.

"Wonderfull, wonderfull." She exclaims but is not terribly convincing. She looks at the wagon and decides to walk behind it as it travels. "I always thought travellers who in the company of dwarves were supposed to be on ponies... and have a wizard and burglar with them."

Gimuld, seeing the cold wind and rain, decides to try and make himself warmer. He takes his blankets from his bedroll and tries to tye them around himself, with a bit of rope if need be. If their is an open spot in the wagon, he tosses his pack there. He also walks behind the wagon, hoping it might block some wind and rain. "I thought I was the burgler here!" exclaims.

"Sorry Gim, I had you figured the lost heir to an ancient empire." Vespian smiles. "Come to remember now Erdthar, didn't Pello steal that cup from the Tavern some time back?"

"I do believe he did.  The little redheaded rascal!"  Erdthar agreed jovially, flaunting his disdain for the elements by marching along into the face of the wind with no more protection than his armor and cloak.

"I didn't steal it! I borrowed it! Not my fault that I was too drunk to remember to give it back, and had to leave town the next day!"

Pello crosses his arms

"Frankly I don't appreciate you calling me a common burgler. If I had wanted that cup I could have aquired it in many much more sophisticated, and no less illegal ways that didn't include theft."

Erdthar guffawed, and shot back "Good thing you didn't.  If you'd torched the place, we'd have to find a new watering hole when we returned."

Re: Trails to Felbarr (Adventure Thread)

Rolls his eyes at the banter of the others. He'd actually heard that legend about the wizard and the dwarves too, and found it humorous, but felt that to laugh, would reveal his inexperience and youth to the others, again...He was so uptight, and he needed a drink.

"On the road in the cold wilderness again, and who knows what may hap this time around? Is there room aboard that waggon, or have you any warm furs, or perhaps a dram of something to warm my bones? It may not be snowing, all praise to Auril, bless her name..." He adds quickly making some sign over his head to the clouds that he picked up somewhere in tribute "But I'm still chilled. Walk walk walk and never any rest until death, I suppose."

Now you've got me all flustered and wanting a drink, damn you Erdthar! Gimuld says with a slgiht bit of hate, hate for reminding him he hasn't had a drink in quite a while.

Milo lays on Ruffs back with his head proped on his hands looking up into the sky." Dem fine day if I do say so eh Ruff? Nice to be back under the open sky."

As the group walks Milo drifts in and out of sleep as Ruff walks along beside the wagon.

Quindil trots along side the cart, licking his lips and reminiscing.
"Good Dwarven Ale, that tavern.  Pint o' that warms ya up.  With a bowl of meaty stew, all you need.

"Quindil, quit teasing Gim"  Erdthar growled.  "He doesn't need to be reminded of a roaring fire under a cozy mantle.  Or pretty wenches serving up rich dark ale, bubbling with a thick foamy head.  It's just mean to remind him of such things."

Gimuld just keeps walking, muttering a few choice words under his breath. Maybe we should make an ale run in Felbarr... I'm sure the gods demand it.

Pello shifts uncomfortably under the blanket, taste buds aching for the sweet scorch of alcohol now by the other's talk.

"Next time I'm going on a mercenary run, I'll bring a bag of holding and enough hard liquor to fill it. It's inhuman to let a gnome thirst like this."
