A ruselling of noise can be heard coming from the lower portion of the spiral staircase. Sound sound seems to come from down below the area where you once fought the troll like demon.

Quindil waves his allies quiet as he concentrates on the noise.  Giving hand signals telling them to be quiet (and hoping they understand them), he sneaks down the stairs to investigate further.

Re: Brattor's Thrall (Adventure Thread II)

Quindil makes his way down the stairs; he passes the room with the demon’s dusty corpse in it and then continues downward. He continues on with the others a bit behind him. The stairway darkens as they head lower; this section of stairway goes on and on for what seems like ever. Finally, guessing you descended over 200’, you reach another room, the stairs still go down from here as well.

Nothing is in this room but the stairs continue down, looking down the lower level from here the stairway is flickering with lights.

Listening down one can hear a murmuring voice.

Re: Brattor's Thrall (Adventure Thread II)

Quindil listens carefully, but the voice is too garbled to make any sense of it.

Slowly and quietly he proceeds down the last flight of stairs. Upon reaching the bottom he sees that the area opens up into a wide hallway that goes on forward for quite a while. The hall way is flickering with light that comes from an unseen room. The voice is now louder but still can’t be understood, it seems like mumbling.

Quindil sneaks back up and delivers his report.
"Stairs go a looong ways down.  I'm guessing 200 feet or more.  There's something at the bottom, but can't tell what or who is making noise down there.  Sounds like they're chanting or mumbling, perhaps.  Maybe some sort of religious ceremony or cult.  Recommend proceeding with maximum caution and firepower."

After this, Quindil prepares to head back down the stairs, this time with the rest of his group.

*Still refocusing from the sudden expansion of her awareness and the struggle to regain her center of being, she telepathically reaches back out to her old friends, hoping that they are not to far away to her thoughts again,"

"This is bad, the absolute worst we have crossed blades with yet,, but so far,, I only see one of them, so hopefully the advantage is ours. That is if Pello can keep quiet and not set off any loud explosions that may warn the demom..,"

Vespian lets her emotions sit for a moment, then adds to her missive.

There is no shame in turning away and coming back another day. If it wasn't to late for me, I would turn and depart with haste. Well, that and I can't necessarily leave without taking the helm of Brattor off it's unworthy Head!...or die, most gloriously trying..

Then, with a small smile, she allows herself the luxury of a memory of her younger years when she was one with, happy with her sisters. Her growing smile wakens as well does her natural claws, talons and wings.

Re: Brattor's Thrall (Adventure Thread II)

Quindill and the group move down closer to the murmering voice. While Vespian inspects from her position.

The murmering is not understandable, no matter how many launguages one speaks they can not determine what exactly is being said.

But Vespian from her position realizes that something is happening with the murmers, probablly something bad.

The creature that now wears the helm is large, rather large, Sunlight shines down on the shrine lighting up both the room and the hallways.

Whats next? The creature is too busy to notice Vespian at this point, but she has done little more than stick her head around the corner.

ooC" Falk is on the map, but i dont think he is presently with us. So if he is not, he makes for nothing more than cannon fodder.

Bring it!!!

Quindil and the others move up to Vespian’s position and take a look down the long hallway before them. The hallway starts off to be around 8’ wide but then expands both outward and upward, up so high that no one can make out the actual ceiling. A beautiful rug runs from the doorway to a tomb that is placed in the center of a large room. The tomb in the center is flanked by four large columns that shoot up to an unseen ceiling. Bright sunlight shines down from above.

A large winged creature stands before the tomb, the Helm of Brattor rest upon its head. From here the Helm looks to be quite marvelous, adorned with gems and inlaid with gold.  Long cheek and neck guards sparkling as the sunlight reflects of the inlaid gems.

The creatures stops murmuring as four sets of legs begin to form from its abdomen, a scream comes from the creature and then it yells in a beautiful feminine voice. ”The Thrall is mine!” Then ringing through everyone’s head you hear the same voice, but in a much softer tone ”there is nothing you can do to stop me my dear.” As she rings that statement through your heads she turns and continues to transform. The eight legs reach out of her abdomen followed by a bestial head. Watching in horror you realize that she is not transforming but something is coming out of her, she twist her neck when finally a large eight legged creature screams out at you. There are now two creatures, she has returned to medium size, and she is beautiful, she looks a lot like Vespian, only a bit more beautiful. Her eyes shine green as she smiles and flaps her wings. She points to Vespian as she starts to ascend. ”Sister, you should not have betrayed us, your blood will be a feast for my pet here. And your friends will make lovely slaves in the Abyss. Eternity they will suffer for your betrayal.” It is now obvious that this woman is the same as Vespian. She flaps her wings and takes off upward and out of sight. Leaving her pet to devour you all!

Quindil eyes up the prospective opponents...
"I do not want to tangle with that directly.  I think that's Erdth's job."
He takes another look.
"Also...I might be wrong, but I don't think it can fit through this door...might want to keep that in mind.

He then calmly but cautiously enters the room, keeping a wary eye on the creature.

Moving in approx 20 feet, staying close to the right wall.

Initiative:
Quindil: 22  -28 hp unless saved
Pello: 21
Enemy: 19
Falk: 14
Vespian: 13

Quindil steps past Vespian and slowly heads into the room. The large beast at first does not seem to take notice of him, when suddenly it turns quickly and proceeds towards Quindil’s location.

The beast rears up snapping its four large claws before it. The snapping of the claws drives straight into Qindil’s nerves, nearly causing him to lose his kool, but he hangs on to it as his sword is drawn.

The succubus woman heads higher to the ceiling as you hear her yell out. ”Kill them, kill them all now, and take them home with you!”

Upon her command the beast responds. Blackened eyes turn colors into a deep transparent blue. They shine for a moment and then suddenly a ray blast forth from the eyes and heads straight for Quindil. The ray barley hits Quindil, but when it does it nearly turns him into ice….. (14 Touch, hits. -28 cold damage reflex 18 for ½)

As the icy ray blast Quindil the woman’s laugh from above echoes through the hall!
