Re: One option

I still like my way, preserving PC inits is important when they do pervese things like mutually exclusive actions or try occupying the same space, or simply want to taunt each other.

Re: One option

thanks for all the input guys.

I am still rolling it around in my head. Trying to decide if its worth messing with, or if it something I just want to work around. I see advantages to all the options, of corse I also see dis-advantages as well. So I just need to draw a line in the sand somewhere and stick with it.

Also I will get us updated when i get home from work.

Re: One option

Ok so, sunder was dumb, I probably just should have hacked him down, but I wanted to try some of these different combat options. Sunder is really useless I guess huh?

Re: One option

Well, sunder might not be much worth against goblins. And then again, these goblins seem tougher than most. Any opponent that takes longer than 1 round to kill is worthwhile to sunder, if it leaves them weaponless.

Re: One option

Have I ever suceeded a defensively cast spell? You aughta think its easy; just 6 or more on the dice; 75% chance. I think the dice gods are punishing me for trying to play safe with a pyromaniac gnome.

Re: One option

I think you still cast the spell if you fail to cast defensively, as long as you arn't hit my the AoO.  Casting defensively is just trying to avoid he AoO.

Nope. Just checked it to be sure. You lose the spell if you fail.

Re: One option

Reno: are you trying to break his weapon or disarm him?

I think that +4 to the attempt is a 3.5 thing, unless you are trying to disarm.

Re: One option

I was trying to break his weapon in half.

But I didn't do enough damage. Even if the goblin makes the weaker check, his weapon will still hold.

I guess I have to quene up the 3.0 SRD in my favorites, so I can reference it. Or go down to my local comic junk store and get an old copy of 3.0.

Sorry Dungeon Master.

Re: One option

I found a 3.0 book that I could refrence.

Good news reno. A spear has hardness: 5 hitpoints: 2

so if you succeed on the sunder you will break the weapon.

Re: One option

Yeah that must be 3.0 because in 3.5 it only lists it a "Two handed hafted weapon". So I figured it must be that.

Re: One option

Looking back on it. I think that you were supposed to roll "to hit" the goblin, or in this case his weapon. Then if succssesful we do opposed attack rolls for the sunder.

But oh well its done now, so maybe next time.

Re: One option

Do Erdthar nand I have the flanking bonus now, or is it negated by the space between Erdthar and Kurag?

Re: One option

Vespian, the space would negate flanking because I don't threaten Kurag from where I was, but I'm taking a 5-foot step toward him this round, and I go before you, so you do get the flanking bonus

Re: One option

I had a couple tonight...but tomorrow is the night I attempt to rid my fridge of liquor.  And seeing as there is 8 bottles of beer and 6 bottles of cider, that may not be a good idea.  I think I'll stick to the cider tomorrow..prolly the safest idea ;)
