HTML Codes in Character Names

Is there a way to insert ISO or HTML codes into character names? That is to ask, can character names have accents?

On the GM menu [Edit Characters> Edit/Rename], when I try to insert é into a character name to make an acute accented é, I get the message that...
"The new character name contains one or more invalid letters."

I assume it's flagging the ampersand and semicolon, but I get the same message if I try the Alt-number approach (which I know is discouraged).

EDIT: Alright, more searching and I found this question asked in the threads back in 2008. The answer is no.

It was worth asking again.  The site was redesigned recently, and improved unicode support was one of the things the new site was supposed to deliver.

I believe there was a/some change(s) made in that regard with the responsive site.

However I don't recall if they went beyond the display and input of posts and extended into other text input areas.
