Posting Expectations

From now on, when Posting in a combat thread, the following is required (as a minimum); if you wish to provide more, feel free to do so (in the following post a template will be provide for which you need only 'cut and paste' to your battle thread and fill out, for player ease; not to mention DM ease when trying to follow the action; feel free to delete any portion of the template that doesn't apply to your post):

What round you are in (ie. prep round 1, prep round 2, round 1, round 200)

Your actions listed (use the following as an example):

STD = standard action
MEA = move equivelant actions
free = free action
Swift = swift action
Immediate = Immediate action

Your initiative result (and in case of a tie: your dex modifier to determine the winner)

Your 3 main armor class amounts (and any temporary penalties/bonuses in brackets) = AC/FF/TAC: 25/16/19 (-2 for expansion, -2 raging)

Your current position (helps keep track if you don't do any moving for many rounds...your opponent doesn't have to keep scrolling up to find out where you are)

The amount of damage you currently have taken (after any fast healing, damage reduction, healing spells, etc)

ie:

Damage dealt: 10 from last round + 5 from this round = 15
Damage taken: 14 from last round + 8 from this round - 5 FH - 8 DR - 12 cure moderate wounds = 0

Any effects that you are currently being affected by (and their rounds used/total duration):

FX:  Expansion (0/30)
     FH 2
     DR 5/??
     Raged (2/7) or (2/?; if you wish to keep your opponent in the dark)

Any specific details you wish to keep from your opponent (the type of potion or spell used that doesn't have a visual effect for example) can be dealt with as follows:

FX:  Spell <private to GM : spell name (0/30 duration)> though, using the correct brackets [  ].

Roller results:  cut/paste all roller results related to your post to your post.
                 This is already a rule, but doesn't seemed to be being followed as of late.

quote:
From this point forward, all combatants are required to cut/paste their roller results to the combat thread that the roll is for.  This ensures, on a busy day, that the rolls aren't lost from the roller record before your opponent gets a chance to check the numbers...and it saves the GM's having to flip back and forth between combat threads and the roller to confirm the accuracy of the numbers used.

It is also request that you make the details for each roll as clear as possible. There should be no mistaking what the roll is for and the specifics affecting that roll (ie, charging attack vs AC ??, flanked attack vs AC ??, ranged attack vs RTA, claw attack 1 vs AC ??, claw attack 2 vs AC ?? (etc).

I will provide a template of what's expected so that players can just open the posting thread and cut/paste it to their battle thread.

Also, please us the following formating for your posts (at the start and end of your posts): < tt > and < /tt > (omit the spaces)

Re: Posting Expectations

As it still seems unclear to some, as to what it is I'm looking for, I'll provide an example or two over the next while, with some explanation.

(use proper brakets, <>)

Captain Morgan

The captain taps a tattoo and then moves toward his opponent.  While doing so he puts himself into a rage. (note: the text describing actions isn't manditory...it just adds to your post and thus is optional)

Round: round 1

Actions:

STD - tapped tattoo <private to GM: inertial armor; 1 hour duration>
MEA - 30' to M,19
free- rage

(note: if you aren't using an action type, you don't need to include it so this example has left out the free, swift, and immediate actions)

Initiative: 19 (list the roll for init in your prep round action, but then post the actual result in subsequent posts)

AC/FF/TAC: 22/14/18   (-2 for raging)

Damage dealt: 0
Damage taken: 0

Current Position: M,19

FX (Visible):
raging <private to GM: duration 0/7>

FX (Not Visible):
tattoo <private to GM: inertial armor, 1 hour>
tattoo <private to GM: force screen, 1/30>

Roller results: (cut and paste roller results for actions taken here)
(use proper brackets) <>

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, without all the commentary, this post should look as follows:

Captain Morgan

The captain taps a tattoo and then moves toward his opponent.  While doing so he puts himself into a rage.

Round: round 1

Actions:

STD - tapped tattoo <private to GM: inertial armor; 1 hour duration>
MEA - 30' to M,19
free- rage

Initiative: 19

AC/FF/TAC: 22/14/18   (-2 for raging)

Damage dealt: 0
Damage taken: 0

Current Position: M, 19

FX (Visible):
raging

FX (Not Visible):

Re: Posting Expectations

Just a reminder that (except for the first prep round, where you can enter the arena with items in your hands)...it is a move equivelant action to draw a potion...I've noticed in several battle threads that quaffing a potion has been done in a STD action and some other move action has been made; thus making the 'drawing' of the potion a free action, which is not the case.

If you are entering the arena with something in your hand...make a statement such as:

Captain Morgan enters the arena with a loaded crossbow in one hand a potion in the other (you must make a private line to the GM, stating what potion it is that is in your hand).

From that point on...any and all move equivelant actions must be taken as such.  Therefore you could not do the following:

STD: quaff potion of x
MEA: draw weapon (as the drawing of the potion would need to be the MEA).

unless of course you have the quickdraw feat. (the 'having a +1 BAB' in this case, doesn't work because the drawing of the weapon is done while in motion...ie.  Captain Morgan moves 20' while drawing his sword).

Those who have done so currently will not be penalized (as in, made to backtrack their rounds of action to correct it); but from this point on, if it happens, backtracking will occur.
