Rill

Corvis are smaller cousins of the better-known urban Tengu, clever raven to their bold crow, slim-limbed humanoids with dark beaks and glossy black feathers. This Corvis is typical of its kind, smaller than a Forest Elf but too tall to be mistaken for a Halfling at a glance. Where many folk have a nose, mouth and chin, they have a hooked, matte black beak with tiny nostril-holes just forward of molten-golden eyes. It has long-fingered and needle-taloned hands, exposed skin like worn black leather, three forward and the 'thumb' reversed, with no palm to speak of - the feet are the same again but larger.

Like all Corvis, Rill provides expression through head movement and position, and deliberate working of her beak, otherwise unable to provide what most folk would understand as a 'facial expression' - no lips or eyebrows, nostrils to flare or cheeks to blush. Paired with their characteristic refusal to use their hands for gesturing, the resemblance to their namesake ravens is persistent and misleading with regard to an sophisticated intellect. Her voice is agile and emotive, permitting a wide range of sound-mimicry and native-sounding speech in any language she demonstrates.

Rill clothes herself with fine silk robes in muted shades of earth and woodland, expertly-tailored and richly embroidered in metallic threads just barely discernable from the cloth. A hooded mantle is worn assiduously when out of doors, and removed when indoors. The ornately-stitched mouths of numberless pockets are all but invisible without careful examination. Rill carries a tall, angular longbow of highly-unusual design and construction - the grip is low on the body, the bowstring slanted, the whole thing employed   so that it juts above her head during use.

She is usually accompanied by, or perched upon, her shaggy canine Familiar.
