Dr. Arthur King

Dr. Arthur King is the Clinical Director at White Creek Center for Recovery in Sequim, Washington.  Dr. King is a well respected medical professional and is considered an authority on the support and recovery of persons with mental health issues.  He has authored a number of books and papers on the treatment of eating disorders and is regularly invited to contribute to symposiums and conferences where he is often the key-note speaker such is his regard from his peers.

Although he has specialised in the treatment of eating disorders and the underlying psychological issues that contribute to them he is also an experienced dietician and has a strong grounding in the treatment of ill health brought about by substance misuse.  He takes a keen interest in the latest developments in psychiatry and psychology.

Dr. King (or Arty to his friends) has been the Clinical Director at White Creek for five years and he takes a close, personal interest in the welfare of his staff and those who use the services at White Creek.  Whilst he maintains appropriate levels of professionalism at all times he is nevertheless, friendly, approachable and dedicated to wanting the best for those who recover at White Creek.  He is dedicated to ensuring that everyone at White Creek focuses on patient-centred recovery, and is of the firm belief that his and his colleagues roles are to identify the root causes of trauma and challenge in people's lives and to help unlock the capacity and capability for recovery.

Dr. King is 43, married to Angela, a paediatrician at Seattle Children's Olympia hospital.  They have a daughter Macey who is currently in Middle School and two labradors.  They live in the small town of Silverdale in order for them both to have a degree of sanity commuting but the journey time to work suits neither of them.  Due to work pressures one or both of them are away from each other at weekends and both are known to 'sleep-in' at their workplace rather than travel home.  That said, they both have successful careers, have no financial problems and are respected.

Dr. King's hopes are for White Creek to build on it's reputation as a first class treatment centre, for those who use his services not to relapse and to live happy, healthy lives and for him to try and engineer more quality family time with the people he loves.
