Ghouls are effectively immortal unless their powers are removed; they'll even heal from the cold if removed from it. This allows them to take multiple trips through Dr. Mortos' Ghoul Juicer. This warps them into even stronger, tougher, and nastier forms; by this point the ghoul compulsion to eat human flesh is a nutritional need rather than a simple compulsion. These ghouls heal faster, too...but their immortality has a clock. Eventually, they will mutate in ways that are cancerous, which is one of the few ways they can permanently die. A ghoul that feels their death coming has no restraints whatsoever left, and will go on a rampage until their body fails.
