Brief History:
Ann family emigrated to US in 1916 after the Dublin rising, fleeing English prosecution. Her parents have an Irish pub in coastal town, while her uncle has a farm where she spent summers in her childhood.
At 12 years old, a building in her neighborhood burnt, and she watched helpless how it collapsed with people inside, while admiring the firefighters job. Hating how powerless she felt, she began studying first aid and emergency response.
She began working as Paramedic to pay for her nursing studies, and she finished them this year, after very hard work in both, her job and her studies. Just after graduation, her teammate (the ambulance driver) died in her arms after being hit at a street gang firefight. This was the last straw, leaving her physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, and in dire need of a sabbatical she could not afford.
Nonetheless, her supervisor saw the symptoms and had a talk with her, where she told her how in her youth she worked as a nurse in a cruiser. After moving some threads, she achieved a contract for Ann In the Villareal Institute ship.
A months long relaxing cruise, far from the streets problem, surrendered by young and healthy institute students, and being paid for it, I nexchange for looking for those passengers and crew medical needs (usually seasickness, with an occasional accident or illness) seemed what she needed. She signed over, and now is in the medical crew of the ship, ready for her first cruise.
After all, what can go wrong in such a cruise?

NOTE: Ann is somewhat of an adrenaline addict (the one given by stressful situations, not from dangerous ones) who tries to relax after becoming nearly burnt out after overtaxing herself with simultaneous work and studies
