Gustav Rett, born Colton Anthony James, became Henry's second protege at the age of 18. Before this he was an Army Ranger, his first mission went FUBAR and he barely made it out alive when he was contracted by John Marlow.

Rett is a superior assassin, skilled in kung fu, hacking, and almost every firearm there is.

His best skill is disguise, Rett can imitate any male close to his size, and does so on almost every mission.

His primary alias was Anthony Vega, whom Rett developed a split personality with at the age of 37. Perhaps the stress of paranoia combined with frequent use of alias's caused Rett's mind to forget who it was, or maybe Rett was too good at "becoming" others. After all, he was pretending to be Vega when he discovered Genarro was responsible for killing his father, Keith James, a rival assassin.

Either way, Vega led to the demise of Rett's entire world, plotting the assassination of Henry Genarro; killing Rett's woman, Kathrine McTavish; killing Adelmo Lucchese's son; and ultimately putting himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, in front of a bullet from the gun of William Blazik.

Gustav Rett and John Marlow were both killed by headshots, standing less than five feet apart. Their brains strewn all over the empty penthouse suite.

Then Rett woke up. A super secret organization, known only to him as The Agency, repaired his brain with nuero-stitches, making him more than human. The scars were gone, his skin perfect, his mind was his again. No more Anthony Vega.
