Before her murder at the hands of an escaped demon when a summoning went awry, Kara du Winters, "Ceridwen," was a sorceress and student of the Nocturne Conservatory at Vangarde Academy, studying forensic thaumaturgy. With her good looks and trademark red hair, her style, and confident (if somewhat shallow) personality, she was easily one of the school's "it" girls, and had high hopes of earning a prestigious position with the Sorcery Collegium upon graduation.

Her tragic death launched a whirlwind of rumors at school, many of them alluding to foul play.

A spectre of her former self, Kara is nonetheless a resourceful young woman hunting Hell's shattered landscape for the soul remnants of dead exalts, on a mission that transcends time, destiny, and death itself.
