Tall and athletic, with neatly styled light brown hair, handsome features and expressive blue eyes, and a fatherly smile capable of melting the iciest of hearts, Michael often comes across as someone younger than he actually is despite his position as a chief executive artificer for Avalon, Inc.. He loves children, gadgets, and apple pie, despises meaness, reads fairy tales, and has a weakness for damsels in distress. His optimistic approach when assessing a situation might have, in another age, been attributed to youthful innocence or old-fashioned country upbringing. In fact, Michael rarely raises his voice, rises from his seat when a lady enters the room, says "sir" and "m'am" when addressing his elders, and is in general an exceedingly polite, thoughful individual.

It is difficult to dislike Michael. Most people even find his slight Texan drawl to be endearing. He is said to be the most brilliant machinist in the world.
