Liam was born in Scotland, but only lived there a few years before his family relocated to another country. His several brothers mostly enjoyed sports and other outdoorsy pursuits, leaving Liam relatively free to peruse their comic collections and mess around with the family computer. He developed an interested in the programming, hardware and gaming of the later, and the overblown stories and merchandise of the former. He always carried the reputation as the 'littlest brother', which wasn't helped when he got a job as the manager of a comics/games/collectibles store.

Though he wasn't as fit as his brother in the SAS, his brother the fireman, or his brother the professional rugby player, he came from the same well-built stock as them, and had been dragged into enough camping trips, matches and work-outs that he didn't have one of the typical nerdy physiques. 6'2” tall, Liam was strong, lean, fit and healthy despite his sedentary pastimes; and having been a sous-chef before working at the comics store, he knew how to cook and eat well. He had short, raggedly cut brown hair and light brown eyes above a perpetual boyish grin. He sported only a few body mods; a pierced nipple, a large Superman S-shield across his chest, a straightedge black X on the back of one hand, and an arrow on the top of one foot, pointing towards his toes, reading This Side Towards Enemy.
