Robert Yalework

Born in a small industrial town in England, Robert's early life was not the happiest. His father was an abusive drunk, who thankfully disappeared around the boy's tenth birthday, though not before doing some damage. He grew up alienated from his somewhat neglectful mother, and from everything about the impoverished, desolate community around him. Music was his escape, listening to the Cure, Siouxie and the Banshees, Velvet Underground, The Blue Oyster Cult, Chumbawumba; artists that spoke to the darker side of life he was familiar with, or with an eclectic and off-the-wall views. Though fairly bright, he was unfocused and ill-disciplined in school, frequently in trouble for disrespecting teachers, getting in fights (he always seemed to get blamed, despite being more often the target than instigator), and vandalising school property. Despite this, he did well enough to earn a modest scholarship to attend university, where he studied literature, becoming enamoured of the gothic and romantic periods. It was at university that he met the friends with which he would form a band.

The band, Melmoth, played gothic-metal, darkwave, hard-edged emo-rock music with strong occult themes, just the kind of thing that spoke to disaffected youths and alternative culture denizens. They began playing student bars and underground clubs, but were soon discovered by talent scouts and signed to an independent label. With the release of their first album, Slouching Towards Babalon, they've been booked on a promotional concert circuit in the US; a series of venues that happens to partially coincide with Harmony's latest tour.

Robert is 6'2” tall and lean, with just enough muscle not to be 'skinny'. His hair is coal-black, thick and messy, prone to form spikes and swirls that contrast with his pale skin. His complexion, leanness and the dark circles under his eyes give him a consumptive, Byronic appearance. He has several visible piercings, in his ears, brow, lip and tongue, plus tattoos on his arms when he wears short sleeves (plus more of both that are usually concealed).
