At first glance, Byron Kelligher might not seem very imposing.Though tall and well-built, he has a quietness and reticence about him; not shyness, but a lack of need for the limelight. He dresses in a plain, tidy, slightly antiquated style that befits the stereotype of an English professor, and has a Clark Kentish modesty that helps him fade into the background most of the time. From first impressions, one would hardly think that he is a former deep sea fisherman, field guide for Medicines Sans Frontiers, extreme athlete and travel writer...but has lead exactly such a storied life. Having had more adventures in a couple of decades than most people manage in a lifetime and sown more than his share of wild oats, Byron was ready to settle down... into a career, if not a marriage. He is a confident, mature, experienced man with nothing to prove, with a passion for language, writing, learning... amongst other things.

Aged 38, Byron stands 6'3” tall, and is broad-shouldered, well-muscled without being hulking. His rough hands and strong body bear a few scars from his adventures, and his skin retains a golden tan from his time in the Pacific, contrasting with sky-blue eyes and the silver flecks in his chestnut hair.
