Maryam’s mixed blood is reflected in an appearance that is quite different from that of the standard Southerner.  Her skin, while darker than that of many air aspects, remains quite fair.  Her hair, though wavy, is blue rather than the typical blond, red, or black, and is worn longer than is customary, flowing a bit past her shoulders.  Even her eyes, a pale blue that is almost grey, hint at her connection to the air.  An attractive woman who appears to be in her mid-twenties, Maryam is of average height and has a slender figure.

Maryam tends to dress in practical clothing.  Unless she is dressing for a festive or formal occasion, she is generally seen wearing tan cotton slacks and a white shirt or tunic, perhaps with a sash or scarf to add a bit of color.  Additional color is added by a Chiaroscuran glass breastplate which appears to have been forged from blue glass containing swirls of grey.  Though, it and the hilt of her sword is frequently partially covered by her storm grey silk cloak.  Oddly enough, twin belts can often be seen at her waist.  One is of leather to which several pouches and objects are attached.  Above it rests a slightly more interesting looking one, which appears to be formed from links of blue jade and inlaid with trace amounts of orichalcum.

While not immediately obvious, after a bit of observation, the reason for her nickname, Silence, becomes clear.  Even when she isn’t trying to hide her presence, Maryam moves with a grace that limits the sound she makes.  Her clothing never seems to rustle.  Her footsteps are muffled.  It is not at all unusual for her to be next to someone before they notice her presence.
