Menoz was a man at arms in the army of the Faithful of Nymuriel.  Aside from the armor that marks his profession, he doesn't come across as being anything more than average.  In contrast to his fellow guard Gita, Menoz is a compassionate man who truly beleived in the promises of Nymuriel.  Of course that was before his former companions had branded him a traitor and tried to kill him.
