Yaotl is a predator, that much can be certain. The dinosaur's inches-long teeth protrude visibly from the top of his maw even when he has his mouth completely closed and the breath that leaks out is generally foul in the manner of a carnivore. Standing nearly as tall as a human at the shoulder, the Carnosaur is significantly larger in terms of weight and muscle. Unlike some of its bipedal cousins, his arms are not small and useless but rather well-formed appendages tipped with claws that are clearly used to hold the prey still while his bite and raking hind talons make short work of any prey. He strides forward on powerful legs which are perpetually bent in a manner which almost suggests he is eternally ready to pounce. In the jungles of Chult, his mottled green and tan coloration makes this an inevitability, since he blends in well with his surroundings.

However, despite his feral mien Yaotl is fairly well behaved. Whether this can be attributed to his demeanor or Asha's training is up to debate. His eyes carry a trace of intelligence which suggests this saurian is perhaps not as dim as others but might even rival some mammals in intellect. However, it is also clear that he is merely a juvenile at the moment, and will become even larger and more ferocious still. Whether Asha will be able to retain command over such a fearsome predator remains to be seen.
