When she was 22, Aryana was in UNH studying journalism and thought she had her whole life ahead of her. She had loving parents and a pesky little brother that made her want to turn to the dark side sometimes, but that was what a family was all about.

Whenever she read about family tragedies in the newspapers, she was one of those that thought her own was safe from such horror and that it only happened to others. That was foolish thinking and she learned that the hard way the night her parents didn't come home from their outing. The night when policemen showed up at their door to announce that her mother and father had died in a car accident.

She had always been a responsible person, but after the shock and tearful cries, she realized that a greater weight had been settled on her shoulders; that of raising her teen brother. What they had as relatives were in England, but it didn't matter as they were not on speaking terms. Aryana was nothing, if not proud. She was an adult and she will face her own problems.

Dreams were pushed aside and sacrifices had to be made. The part-time waitress job she had while in school was no longer enough. She dropped out of university to work full-time during the weekdays and on the weekends, she bar-tended. It was tiring but the last thing she wanted was for Ethan to torch his own dreams just because they didn't have enough money. Besides, she had to appreciate the fact that they had grown closer.
