The A.rtificiaL. I.ntelligence C.ybernetic E.ngineering project was supposed to be the salvation of the western world.  Top scientists from around the world spent years working together to advance the fields or Artificial Intellegence, Cybernetics and Robotic weapons systems in what would turn into the second Manhattan project.

  Kept under such tight security that even the scientists working on the project knew little to nothing beyond their personal area of expertise.  A small band of military leaders during the early days of WWIII organized and implemented what they hoped would be the ultimate weapon against the Psychic threat.  When the war ended the project was scraped and considered a failure. The facility was destroyed along with all prototypes.
Every engineer and scientist associated with the project disappeared or was killed.

One engineer & one robotic physicist managed to escape with notes on the project.  They used their stolen notes as a safeguard against their lives.  They both disappeared, but managed to live out their lives in relative peace.  Upon their deaths a safety deposit box was bequeathed to the University of MIT.  It contained the means to revitalize the project.

The result was A.L.I.C.E.
Once it was discovered what she was and where the project came from Government agents swept in to erase all evidence of her creation.  A.L.I.C.E. would have herself been destroyed if it were not for the intervention of The President of The United States of North America himself David Lennox.
Instead of having her dismantled, Lennox sent her to work at the new headquarters of his multi national super corporation (LexCorp) know as Galaxy Towers.  Ever since A.L.I.C.E. has worked to support the super hero team owned by LexCorp The Galaxy City Avengers.
