John Blackburn is the second son of an impoverish gentleman. At only twenty years old, Blackburn has not achieved much in his young life. But he is handsome and charming and has a way with the ladies.

Too poor to afford a commission and not well educated enough to gain employment at a reputable firm, he also lacks the faith to join the clergy. As such he is trying to find his way trusting in his charm and his skill with a blade, dice and cards.

Blackburn somehow manages to make his wardrobe look stylish, but truth be told it is a bit threadbare. Tall and handsome he cuts a dashing figure and is almost never seen with out his sword, cards and a beautiful lady.

Blackburn managed to obtain a commission as a Captain in the Royal Marines. Now when out and about town he can be found in his uniform.
