Joseph MacPherson

Name: Joseph MacPherson
Position: Traveling musician, bounty hunter, tinker [civilian]
Age: ye can ask, but I won't tell [appears 40]
Gender: male last I checked
Appearance:
[when not in disguise] Joseph is a short man at 4'2" but he is proportionate. His [silver/dark] hair falls down in loose ringlets several inches beyond his shoulders.  While not as strong as a full sized human, he is strong for his size, but will resort to weaponry to defend himself if he unable to avoid a fight.  His fingers are nimble in their very movement, and behind his relaxed smile his deep brown eye's don't miss a thing.
Personality:
An engaging sort, he supliments a Charismatic personality with wit and shrewd honesty.  He's been around the block a couple of times and knows nearly every Merc band in the area.  He knows his way around the dark side of the station but prefers not to delve to deeply into it, a bard has to keep up a reputation you know.  And he always has a song in his heart and an eye out for trouble.  He switches to the full brogue when entertaining or charming but his serious voice is much less exaggerated and bears an English hint.
History:
They say the Shire Cove MacPhersons made a deal with the land an the sea, so that every generation a short person would be born with the blood of the little ones to show the sheep the best place to graze, an every generation a dark person would be born with the blood of the silkies to show the boats where to fish.

Once one of them Angel ladies came by to check on that.  She said it was just recessive genes, a roll of the dice if you will.  If she's right then Sean MacPherson shoulda gambled more.

On a dark blustery fall night, his wife gave birth to twins, both of the small stature, but they weren't identical.  One had the raven locks of the dark Scots. The boys grew up learning from their father who was a clock maker like his father before him, neither showing an inclination to go to the fields or the sea but Joseph, the dark one was always restless unlike his brother Jacob.  Every night he would stare out the upstairs sky light at the stars and dream of leaving earth.

The one thing that calmed Joseph was music.  His first instrument was the penny whistle, the second, the clarinet and he always had a song on his lips.  It was with some resignation that his Father turned his apprentice over to a master of instrument crafting. Already talented in clock making Joseph's tiny fingers proved adept at assembling even the tiniest pieces of the picalo but his true passion was in the playing of the music.  Never quite big enough in the chest for the bag pipes he mastered all the other traditional instruments of his people.

When he came of age Joseph was quick to inrole in the military to fulfill his dreams of going to the stars, but as might be expected, he came up a little short in the medical exam.  Heart broken in that regards he turned back to the ever jealous mistress, music and in time was picked up by a mercenary group who were stopping on earth for shore leave.  Passed from one band of cutthroats to the next, his talent and wit saw him through where his strength did not and he learned to shoot and fight with blades even as he was respected in his craft of music. The traditional Scotish saber was the weapon he felt most comfortable with though his had to be made a little lighter than most.

One group saw his growing weapon skills and used his musical talents to get close to a bounty.  They still hire him from time to time but the thrill of bounty hunting never left his blood.  He trained harder with weapons and learned to keep his eye open for possible paydays as his act wound it's way through the stars.

The dark haired people of his family always had a soft spot in their hearts for each other, and when Joseph made his way back to earth to celebrate the birth of his niece he lost himself in those little brown eye's. His trips home became more frequent and the little girl was spoiled with the gifts of the cosmos.  She grew to be a great beauty, at least in the eyes of her uncle, eyes that like his before her were ever fixed on the stars.

War happened, worse than ever and stranded him away from home for some time.  When he got back she had left without him.  An unwise choice for a gentle girl amongst the turbulent stars.  He searched for her but it was her father who first learned of her fate.  Joseph received an envelope that had a watch that told both the time and date with her picture on the inside cover.  It the face was smashed stopped at the hour of her death as was the tradition when a MacPherson fell.

Joseph has special plans for the murderer of his Niece. Through his mercenary friends he bought a sword made from a Magnesium alloy.  He fully intends to run it through a not too fatal part of the murderers body then light it on fire giving them an early taste of hell.
