Leaving a professorship at the UK's Oxford University for the chance to study the flora and fauna of hundreds of different worlds, Henry enlisted in the ESN.

Raised of academic parents, and following in their footsteps (sort of, they were a archaeologist and a linguist... his fascination with plants and animals took them rather by surprise!), Henry has travelled Earth extensively to study ecological systems, always regretting in a small corner of his mind that the heady days of the 18th and 19th century 'naturalists' hitching rides on such as Royal Navy ships and studying plants and animals unknown to science were in the past... until everything changed and again there were new places to explore, new critters and plants to discover!
