Sir Edgar Armstrong-Spencer

Sir Edgar Armstrong-Spencer is ruggedly handsome, he is 39 years old, 6' 2"'stall and weighs 170 lbs. His hair is a sun bleached black and his eyes are light blue. He is an African explorer and big game hunter. He is currentlytrying to get funding for an expedition to Africa. Sir Edgar is giving lectures about his experiences in Africa and the peoples and animals he encountered. As most of his life was spent in Africa on safari or hunting, he never married.  His primary residence in Pretoria, South Africa and, when in England, stays at Spencer Castle in Oxfordshire.

Relation to Jackson Elias:
Before the start of the 'Great War', Jackson Elias was in South Africa researching a rumor of strange rituals going on in village several hundred miles north of Pretoria. Jackson contacted Sir Edgar and asked him to assemble a small safari to that village. The small safari left Pretoria and traveled to the village. Jackson and Sir Edgar became fast friends during their long travel. The village had been decimated by local tribes that had banded together to fight the vile villagers. Jackson returned without much of a story and left South Africa in mid-1914.
Sir Edgar again met Jackson in England when he was doing research on his book "Witch Cults of England" in 1919-1920. Jackson made Sir Edgar an honorary member of the 'Shop' whenever Sir Edgar is in America.

History:
Born Jan. 1, 1885 into the aristocratic family of the Dukes of Marlborough, a branch of the noble Spencer family, Edgar Armstrong-Spencer, like his father, used the surname "Spencer" in public life. Spencer's father, Lord Randolph Spencer, the third son of John Armstrong-Spencer, 7th Duke of Marlborough, wasa politician; and his mother, Lady Randolph Spencer (née Janice Henry) was the daughter of American millionaire Leonard Henry. Spencer was born on 1 January 1885, in a hospital room in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. He has two older brothers, Leonard and Randolph, as well as a younger sister, Janice.

His mother doted over Sir Edgar and was an almost constant companion until is sister was born, then he was sent to a boarding school. Sir Edgar was educated at the independent school, St. George's School, in Ascot, Berkshire. His grades were passable, but not excellent as his father expected.  He completed St. George's School in 1904.

After passing his Oxford and Cambridge exams with honors in science, in 1904 he went to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge where he studied Natural Sciences, obtaining a first class degree in 1908. He was particularly interested in the study of archaeology and history.

The 'Great' days of African exploration was over, as were the Bohr Wars. Sir Edgar left England after graduation and went to South Africa. He would 'sign on' with traders and explorers going into the 'Dark' of Africa.  Sir Edgar would do this for six years until the 'Great War' began.

In the Senussi Campaign which took place in north Africa, from November 1915 to February 1917,  Sir Edgar was used as a scout for British forces. He saw little combat as a scout, but had many interesting and dangerous experiences. After the Senussi Campaign, he was sent back to South Africa to assist inlogistics for the remainder on the war.

After the war ended, Sir Edgar would lead hunting expeditions and safaris throughout southern and central Africa for well to do, 'Big Game Hunters'. There were parts of Africa still not well known to the civilized world.  Sir Edgar wanted to lead an expedition deep into central Africa to find some of the rumored archaeological finds still to be discovered.  He travelled back to England and then to America to get funds for the expedition.
