Background: Ralph was born in Alaska and his parents were homesteaders. Thus his early life consisted of living off the land and in wanting to get away of the frozen tundra of Alaska Ralph joined the United States Marine Corps in 1964 after graduating high school in a graduating class of just six students.

After graduating boot camp at MCRD San Diego as an 0311 Rifleman, Ralph was assigned to 1st Battalion 9th Marines, AKA 'The Walking Dead' from September 1965 to October 1966 in Vietnam. He then spent time in the first Marine Division in Camp Pendleton before volunteering to become a Recon Marine.

Ralph's second our in Vietnam was from 1969 to 1970 with Marine Recon carrying out long range patrols. During one of these patrols Ralph was severely wounded after taking a bullet to the chest that collapsed his right lung, and shrapnel wounds to his face.

After spending time state side recuperating, Ralph went back to Vietnam in 1972. Again he was with Force Recon but only officially as he was seconded to the CIA for operations in Cambodia. Ralph extended this third tour several times and did not return stateside until 1974.

Upon returning stateside in mid 1974, Ralph was discharged form the USMC and was was recruited by a subsidiary of Morrow Industries International.

Placed in his 'bolthole' in 1975, Ralph did not awaken until 2139. As the only member of his team to awaken he made his way to Project Base Tukwila. After familiarization training with newer equipment, Ralph then spent time assisting in the emergency efforts around the eastern slopes of Mt. Rainier, which was an active volcano.

Ralph was then sent to the Olympic Peninsula to assist a Project Recon team operating in the area.
