Seth Bullock was Deadwood's marshal until Custer put the place under martial law. An easygoing man, he prefers to handle his problems peacefully if possible, but with gunplay if necessary.

He's a man of many parts. In addition to his law enforcement duties, Bullock serves on the Board of Health & Street Commissioners, and owns a number of local businesses. His increasing importance and wealth make him cautious. His recent run-in with a crazed cult has sapped some of his pacifism.
