Mug

Name: Mug
Height: 9'6" Weight: 800lbs Age: 25 SM: +1
Appearance: An ugly Ogre with a perpetual grin on his big stupid face. He wears full leather armor and carries a huge shield and morningstar.

A group of humans let by some priests had attempted to create a settlement up in the northern part of the continent, away from the larger cities and factions to the South. A group of Ogres misplaced their baby while trying to eat sheep the priests kept because Ogres are dumb. Instead of just letting the shepherds kill him the priests decided to raise him instead. His first word and the only word he would say for the first year or two was "Mug", a word he learned front the priests always shouting at him at meal time when he would take their ale as a (gigantic) toddler, "That's my mug! Give me back my mug!" And the name he had been given (he had been named after some saint whose name he could never remember or pronounce) was quickly forgotten and everyone just called him Mug.

He was actually not as stupid as the average Ogre, though the priests quietly credited their constant teaching (and canings) with good progress. He was useful for all kinds of hard labor from the time he was a child, building walls and houses, pulling a plow when the ox got sick, and fending off the occasional goblinkin thief or wild animal that would attack the villagers, the shrine, or their flock.

When a group of cultists summoned demons to kill, destroy, and enslave the human settlement the light of Enti shone down and chose big, stupid, kind-hearted Mug the Ogre to protect the people who had raised him. When a great demon kicked in the door of the shrine where everyone was huddled inside Mug picked it up, used it as a shield and beat back the raiders using the crossbar as a club.

While he was successful in killing the demons, driving out the cultists, and saving the people, the fires destroyed everything they had and the next day they gathered everything they had been able to save and set out south for Sanctuary. Mug accompanied them most of the way there then the priests explained to him that people wouldn't like him in Sanctuary because of what he was and that Enti had big plans for him. They gifted him with a morningstar and shield to replace the club  and door he had broken defending the now destroyed village and told him to go find other people who needed protecting and continue to smite evil in Enti's name.
