The Storyteller

I am 68 years of age, married, with 5 grown children and 6 grandchildren. I retired from the military in 1998 and will be retiring from state government in 2020. My hobbies and interests are varied but the one interest that has stayed with me for over 40 years is Fantasy Role-playing.

My background is fairly extensive. While this is my first attempt at rules writing, I have a background in play-testing several rule systems. I cut my teeth on the original white boxed edition of Dungeons and Dragons and have played several different systems finally arriving at Pathfinder's doorstep about 5 years ago.

While it took about 2 years for me to realize the Pathfinder rule system was too complex for my interests, most of what I developed was focus around the Original D&D and AD&D 1st Edition. I know this seems kind of crazy but the BECMI system was too 'conflicted' for me and the multiple rulebooks just kept pushing me back to OD&D. About a year ago I came across the B/X Essentials rewrite of BECMI and found it easier to work through. When the Old School Essential Kickstarter was announced I was excited for the possibilities.

Now don't misunderstand, I like working with most of the OSR versions and play in games that are GM'd around several different rule systems, i.e. Swords & Wizardry, Labyrinth Lord, OSRIC, etc. The only reason I use OSRIC v2 is it's availability as a free product. Players don't have to expend cash to obtain the rules. It is not uncommon for me to pull something from another rule system and use it in my game as long as it melds well with the base rules being used, i.e. the critical hit tables.

I have a historical interest in Medieval Economics and Society which is my catalyst for attempting to draw from several resources to prepare a rules set that is compatible across any d20 rule system.
