Duke Bertilak is the Lord of Bia Ro. He is Acting Chancellor of Parliament after the murder of Maximus Dervarin, the previous Lord Chancellor. Bertilak was once regarded as one of the best Warriors of his age, with a calculating mind for military stratagem. His holding of Bia Ro is one of the more distant of the Empire, regarded as mostly consisting of frozen marsh and moorland, there is some question as to whether Bia Ro is still inhabitable at all.
